I literally had to start giving away charging bricks because we had accumulated so many.

My wife keeps one pair of earpods in her backpack, I keep one at my desk and one in my work bag, and then I think I have two more sitting in a drawer, but then almost always use my AirPods.

Some people might find the change silly.
I totally get it.

We’ve been down this stupid game before. Until next year when every other phone makes the same move and applaud themselves for being innovative

I wish Samsung would shy away from this kind of marketing and highlight what their devices uniquely bring to the table instead.

I've been using Galaxy devices since I ditched my iPhone 4s, and I must say that they really don't need to do mudsling adverts.

Their products are excellent on their own merits, and provide an alternative to customers that want a bit more flexibility with their mobile device (even if it is at the expense of Apple's polish).

i think the insult stems around the claim that the accessories are no longer included to save the planet.
I think that's pretty hard to swallow even for rabid environmental fanatics.
Dude do you know how many power adapters I have. I have 6 laying around in the house not really sure what to do with them. Its an issue because eventually they will be thrown away.

Samsung on its social channels is mocking Apple for removing the power adapter from the iPhone 12 lineup and other iPhone models, pointing out the fact that the Samsung Galaxy smartphones continue to ship with a power adapter.

samsungfacebook.jpg

"Included with your Galaxy," reads a Samsung Facebook post that features a picture of a power adapter.

Apple notably is no longer providing power adapters or EarPods with iPhone purchases, a change applicable to the new iPhone 12 models and new purchases of iPhone 11, iPhone SE, and iPhone XR models. Apple says that the change will let it cut down on carbon emissions both through the elimination of the accessories and through the smaller box size iPhones now use.

Apple at Tuesday's event said the shift was made for environmental reasons, but there has been speculation that Apple may have removed the accessories to cut costs due to the expense of the 5G modems used in the new iPhone lineup. Apple's iPhones ship with just a USB-C to Lightning cable, and power adapters and headphones must be purchased separately.

Though Samsung is touting the USB-C power adapter that comes with current Galaxy models, rumors have suggested that Samsung too plans to stop including chargers in the boxes of some of its smartphones starting in 2021. Samsung is allegedly planning to nix power adapters because chargers "have become widespread" and doing so will cut production costs.

It's not clear if this will happen, and Samsung may opt to keep offering power adapters to differentiate its smartphones from Apple's iPhones. Samsung did, however, make fun of Apple for removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 in 2016 before copying the decision and releasing the 2018 Galaxy A8 without a headphone jack.

Samsung has a long history of mocking Apple's design and product decisions, oftentimes prior to adopting some of the same changes. Samsung this year is targeting the iPhone 12, which competes with its Galaxy Note20 5G and Galaxy S20 5G lineup. In addition to the rib about the power adapter, Samsung has also shared a tweet that mocks Apple for being late to introduce 5G.

Apple's first iPhone 12 models will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, with the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro launching first. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will be available for pre-order on November 6.

To be fair, Samsung has a point. And Apple’s excuse of being environmentally friendly doesn’t pass muster because I would presume that the USB-C wall adapter that Apple will sell will also come in paper-boxed packaging, along with wasted ink on the front and the back of such packaging.

They already planned to copy apple again next year but people will fall for this and I’m sure will have an excuse come next year -
if I had to guess people will say well doesn’t matter I’ve got so many cheap ones already!

Lol typical Samsung...

Mocks Apple for having a concealed battery, then does the same later..

Mocks Apple for the notch, then does the hole punch and conveniently stops showing the Samsung commercial with the apple fan that has the notch haircut.

Mocks Apple for no headphone jack, then does the same thing later...

And now this.. Why do the like biting their own tongue so much? lol

I'll have to pay around 70€ to get Earpods, Lightning cable and 5W charger. No, I don't already own those. What really sucks is that Apple lightning cable is proprietary. If Apple was for real they would include a promotion where you can get them for free or massive discount if theres need. There should be a law that prohibits this. You don't sell an consumer electronic product with no way to power it.

So they include them in the box, and you pay an extra €50 for your iPhone. And so does everyone else who doesn't need them or who prefers to buy cheaper or better third-party ones. I know which version I'm happier with.

I'm paying Apple for everything that comes in that box, so I'd prefer it to only be stuff I actually want.

I'm still not over the fact that, in the run up to iPhone 6, Samsung rushed to market products with "curved edge screens" that no one asked for, due to all the rumors of "curved screens" in the next iPhone...which turned out to be simply curved glass. And Samsung was left having to justify the hideous curved screens that no one asked for.

I think those Samsung phones look ugly. Even the charger looks cheesy. This is the best that Samsung can do to get people to buy their product, hype that it includes a cheap wall charger.

Samsung's marketing people are literally so stupid. They never learn anything - just take the cheap shot right in the moment, then look like morons in a year when the Galaxy S35 doesn't include an adapter either. Then they will be in overdrive to wipe all the tweets and videos from their YouTube channel.

I get that Samsung is quite hypocritical, but to be fair, Samsung has also included USB-C adapters for years now, unlike Apple, where only last year's iPhone 11 Pro models came with the 18W USB-C adapter (as opposed to the standard 5W adapter).

I don't often respond to quotes from others. But ... NO, there should NOT be a law that prohibits this. "There should be a law..." is practically everything wrong with Europe these days. If Apple (or any company, for that matter) wants to sell a product with batteries, chargers, headphones, paint, plastic, even main components missing, as long as they aren't lying about its absence, that's FINE. That's the free market. The *consumer* will decide if the value exceeds the cost of the product. The only exception I would make to this argument, is a safety issue that impacts the rest of society, like a car without a steering wheel, etc.

Exactly, if people in this thread represent a large part of reality, and Apple sees a significant decline in sales across all models, I would bet that they would come up with a better solution. To make inconveniences illegal is laughable.

Anyone one got a running list of times Samsung has ribbed Apple about doing something, then ended up doing the same thing themselves? And vice-versa?

and this year's iPhone is 25% faster than last year's. Keep trying Samsmug

(And Kudos for paying the Qualcomm extortion, it was a nice try for Apple to break it by going with Intel, who failed on 5G, but sometimes you just gotta try to do what is right)

Can’t stand them, they always mock apple then end up copying them, and there phones have 120hz with limitations so no Samsung nice try
Yeah, the nickname Samesung has always fitted them well.

Still never understood how their devices became so insanely popular in the first place.

If you go back to 2010 or so, they were shockingly bad - just basically ugly iPhone clones with a slow, bloated skin on top of Android and they really didn’t deserve to gain any meaningful market traction.

But money I guess, and carriers getting kick backs to push them in preference to the iPhone and the Android competition (which also wasn’t great at the time).
