Those nay sayers will praise Tim Cook once it is released and will proclaim it’s done better, then sit back after a big gulf of the kool-aid.
Regardless of whether Apple brings a foldable to market or not, if/when they do, the implementation will most certainly be better than the current Samsung and Huawei offerings. Samsung and Huawei both remind me of America's media; more concerned with being first than being right.

I absolutely agree with this. I think Apple is going to move more towards a focus on minimal meaningful interactions with iOS user tech, and I believe the iPhone will evolve to be the hub of the Apple ecosystem.

Yup, I think that’s how they see it as well. Definitely still value to the iPhone in itself, but the main interactions will come from products like Apple Watchm AirPods, potentially AR glasses, or who knows what else they come up with. As a society, I think we need to move away from large screens in our faces and focus more on human interaction, health, travel, community, things like that.

Meh, whats the point? Apple ain't gonna do anything. It will still try to sell us "The thinnest and fastest iPhone ever" and "The most powerful iphone ever" and this time it is made of diamond back costing $3000. Hurrah!

How? You're a mac user.

Yeah and it's understandable for what you're getting and trying to do. Good thing we've got Apple to fix that.... oh wait, they neither have decent GPUs, VR support or even a respectable pricetag on any of their existing gimped hardware.
I have a Mac laptop and a PC desktop with great specs - GTX 970, hex core i7, etc. and I'm still not confident it could run 4k games smoothly, let alone VR. Idk why you assumed I'm exclusively a Mac user, I know that Macs suck for gaming and that's why my desktop is a PC.

How is this desperate by Samsung? They have a technology they want to license. Doesn't make them desperate. It's buisness and I'm sure Samsung has calculated enough to make it doable to produce these panels even if nobody wants to pay the license free.

Every once and a while, a revolutionary product comes along, that changes everything...

"An iPad, an iPhone and an internet communicator" Are you getting it yet? These are not 3 separate devices, This is one device. and we're calling it, iFold.

The only thing this thing will change is your bank account balance.

I think foldable tech is cool, but the implementation by Samsung and Huawei is cumbersome. The point of folding is portability while also being able to show more content in the unfolded shape, but at the price point of these foldables, you can get a XS and iPad Pro, and have better experiences on both without the cumbersome designs and design trade-offs. The tech is neat and will certainly evolve, but in 2019, I'd rather spend that money on a XS/iPad Pro and have separate devices.

Agree with you as of today, but the mail benefit to this technology is that we will only have to carry one device with us at all times. No need to worry about whether to lug along a tablet in addition to your phone. I really think people need to start rethinking the concept of an iPhone. It really has evolved into a mobile computing device that happens to have a phone and camera feature. I suspect actually talking on an iPhone is one of the least used features (as a percentage of usage time) for many people.

Instead of a "whats a computer" campaign, APple should have ran a "whats a phone" campaign :D

They can make a high tech version of a paper fortune teller.

I expect this display technology is going to show up on car bodies allowing drivers who like to customize cars the ability to change colors and display patterns on their vehicle. There already is similar technologies to change auto paint color.

@john123 and @LordVic ...you guys are trying to reason with people who do not play nice. They state their POV as fact and ignore all others. The have a very narrow POV and belittle anything other than their own position.

Sometimes it is best to ignore and let some statements speak for themselves.
You will never win an argument with these types of people. You have to stoop to their level and it is not worth it.
One being a federal employee to boot.
Scary.

Dumbest tech ever.

Most hyperbolic statement ever.

It's not strictly an either/or. I think that's an important fact that both "sides" of this debate miss.

These aren't really comparable.

It does not bother me if Apple adopts foldable AMOLED or not, more choice for the customer is good. The question is why do you oppose such a move, Apple does not cater to you only. Have an open mind, you do not have to like it, then don’t purchase it.

We have seen this play out several times, a minority of opinions here hate something that is rumoured, Apple release it, then some of these people change their tune like Apple invented sliced bread and can do nothing wrong. Get real people.

Heres why Apple will not make a foldable iPhone, at least for now:

- It does not make a good user experience. Having to flip to different screens.

- It makes the device thicker and heavier with no clear/reliable advantages.

- Given the laptop/tablet trend, Apple is not known to follow these kind of stuff.

- Apple does not consider iPhone XS MAX a phablet, but a smartphone.

Better is questionable, we can go back and forth with this argument from both sides. Use what you want, you neither run Apple Inc or Google, even as a shareholder your only concern is if your shares value is more when you sell compared when your purchased. Stop commenting as if one company does somthing better, perspective and choice.
