And the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge models appear to be exploding at an exponential rate. There were at least two incidents that made the news yesterday.

I wouldn't say that. More likely people who previously never reported these incidents (just got a new device) are now reporting them because of all the media attention.

It happens a lot with product recalls. Just like when Toyota had the throttle recall and suddenly reports of "stuck throttles" went up with all manufacturers.

I flew United last week and the Samsung warnings were in the waiting area and announced at the beginning of the flight. What a nightmare for the company. And now I see on the morning news that one of their washers also has an explosion problem.

They make good products overall so I wouldn't be surprised if this all just blows over in half a year. Memories are short.

Wait, Notes are blowing up for multiple reasons? The battery and "there are reports within China of exploding Note 7 phones that the company is looking into, which it says is not at the fault of the battery."

WTF?!?!

The joke was:

How did Helen Keller burn her ear?

Answering the waffle iron.

Now it's:

How did Helen Keller burn her ear?

Answering her Note 7.

Seriously your answer to my phone is too hot to talk on because it is burninb my ear is NOT to say that it is in the normal range of smartphone temperatures.

It was a poll.

Uh huh. Yup.
That's what it was.
*confused as to your point*
Do you actually believe that the findings of this poll of over 500 American consumers that returned their Note 7s are COMPLETELY false?? You believe Samsung's claim of "over 90% of people wanted another Note 7"?? Lol. C'mon man..... please get real.

"You're holding it to your ear wrong."

Seriously, too hot to use as a phone? What is someone supposed to do, buy an ice pack case? Wait, imma go to Kickstarter, BRB.

Really? Yikes. I saw a pic yesterday of the guy who posted his phone and MacBook that was also damaged by it and yeah, that thing looked torched. Are these phones or grenades?
Anyone that uses a Samsung device should always have a fire extinguisher nearby and know how to use it. The fire retardant should accompany the user to the workplace, coffee shop, airplane, and museum of failed companies.

This whole thing is just insane. And I really hope Apple doesn't lax moving forward with the iPhone now that Samsung has taken this gigantic hit but seriously, this isn't a battery simply overheating, these things are exploding! I was talking to my friend the other day about it and I also found the story on the washing machines made by Samsung; how they could rush this out to market as being the potential issue that's causing these battery issues seems like a pretty big oversight to me. And in terms of the Note 7 getting too hot for phone calls; my iphone can get warm if I have the screen brightness set to high or have been using it intensively but NEVER has this thing gotten too hot to hold against the ear. I would think people would rather deal with the whole iPhone pre-ordering fiasco that's been going on with the Jet Black models than getting a phone that potential could burn a hold right through your bum lol.

So, like the packaged headphones and charger, etc the extinguisher should just come along in the box as an accessory right? LOL

0 percent of devices in Switzerland have been exchanged because Samsung hasn't delivered any replacement devices to the local providers. I guess it's time to hire a lawyer now - had to return the phone to Swisscom almost a month ago and still haven't received a replacement. Swisscom has no idea when replacements will be arriving.

Why would you want a replacement from a company like Samsuck? Demand a refund, and choose a different brand. I doesn't have to be Apple, just ANYTHING but Samsung.

I thought she burned her ear by calling a Hotline.

I'm not in church, so beliefs are irrelevant.
Polls of what people might do at a future date are not proof that something actually took place.
Whether Samsung is telling the truth or not is not what is being questioned.
Your posting a poll as fact is.
Time for you to "get real" and post some third party verifiable proof if you want to make that argument.

And the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge models appear to be exploding at an exponential rate. There were at least two incidents that made the news yesterday.

Exponential??? They sold in huge numbers. Some units are having meltdowns. The vast majority are not. The tech press is just highly focused on any story and thus making mountains out of molehills. In other news:
  • sharks are not biting every person that goes in the oceans
  • hurricanes are not completely destroying every house and every community their wind & raindrops touch
  • floods are not destroying every home in America
  • every Clinton email ever written was not corruption waiting to be exposed
  • every Trump action is not driving us toward nuclear annihilation
  • every athlete is not refusing to respect a patriotic custom
A small number of Samsung phones are indeed melting down. The vast majority of them are not. There's enough of an issue to motivate Samsung to recall them all and fix the issue, rather than- say- trying to deflect with a variation of "you're holding it wrong." Do they have a component problem to address? Yes. But don't we all know if this was Apple's problem, we'd be spinning it as user error and every other possibility to deflect blame from the Almighty? No particular love for Samsung on my part... more of a "get real" rebuttal here.

And none of the above is in an exponential rate expansion- just hot news of the moment getting as much attention as can be mustered... until something that draws more eyeballs comes onto the stage.

Oh, that sounds really really really impossibly hard to believe??!!
Huh. Maybe it's because that outlandish statistic is Samsung's lie.

http://www.pcmag.com/news/348028/most-galaxy-note-7-owners-getting-a-refund-or-iphone

PC Mag's study found that over 60% of returns are NOT for a Samsung device whatsoever.

The article's numbers sound closer to reality.
I don't care who makes the phone, if there was a chance of a phone catching fire, who in their right mind would try it again? Sure try another model or change to another manufacturer.
I love apple but I still feel bad for Sammy, the completion is good for Apple.

You could be correct: the Note 7 problems probably shinned a brighter light on all the other Samsung issues.

It also might be true that Samsung threw the Note 7 under the bus in hopes of misdirecting a potential recall for the much more popular Galaxy S7 Edge. So far, the majors haven't picked-up the S7 Edge explosion/fire stories, so it appears their alleged plan is working. Will the FAA have the same lenience?

I can't understand why 90 percent of costumers actually chose to get another Note 7 device instead of a refund. Companies will never learn that safety, security and privacy should be their number 1 focus if consumer don't push for such with their wallets.
Amen to that. I don't understand why anyone would buy a Samsung phone at this point. It doesn't have to be Apple. Just not Samsung.

I don't think you would consider the matter a molehill if your house or car burned down or you or someone in your family was injured. Even a single incident is bad enough, but there are numerous...

92 in the US alone from an article posted 2 weeks ago, and many more since then: http://www.droid-life.com/2016/09/1...er-incidents-new-stock-expected-september-21/

Sounds to me like it's more you trying to make a molehill out of a mountain

There were at least two S7 Edge incidents that made the news yesterday. Before yesterday there was maybe one incident every week or so. There could be many more incidents that are unreported like there was/is with the Note 7. To me, this is an exponential escalation. Will there be twenty more this week, forty next week? Is the fast charging causing the batteries to fail at an exponential rate?
