Oh my, how will Apple ever keep up? Just kidding of course, I'm sure the iP8 will be extra super magical. Regardless, with TouchWiz and limited OS updates, Samsung phones are a non-starter for me personally.

At this point, it is all about software. The hardware on phones has been pretty top notch for at least the last couple of years. For example, the ipad feels fresh because IOS11 breathed life into it, and is really attempting to make it a laptop replacement.

Totally agree here. Eventually, we'll just have slabs of all screen. All comes down to software, core technologies, ecosystem, support, and privacy. All of these things I think Apple has the leg up on.

Personally I find 'infinity' displays look good if they don't curve the edges. Otherwise, the distortion is quite irritating.
On displays like Dell xps laptops, it looks great.

Absolutely the best phone of the year. Every feature and more is here and we still have a headphone jack lol. You just cant get any better. The ultimate phone...once again iphone fanboys will be envious.

Envious of? There's nothing exciting here. If I was going to use Android there's no chance i'd use Samsung's version of it. Pixel all the way.

I'm not an Android guy at all. That said, may friend has been using a Note 4 for years, and for that kind of person it really is a nice device (qualms about software aside).

Looks good Sammy.

If I were to use an Android phone, the Google pixel would be my choice. I honestly think the Google Pixel 2 will be a huge competitor against the Galaxy series from Samsung. It's a really well-made phone and it has a promising future.

Yeah, but it is not a real 2018 flagship.
Besides the stylus, the double cam and 2gb more of memory but with less battery, it is similar to the s8+ that retails for about 350 less.
A faster soc, and no chin and forehead at all and a better placement of the fingerprint scanner, could have made it a lot more attractive.

What is a 2018 flagship though? For 2017, it certainly in line with what's expected: high caliber SoC, 6gb RAM, QHD+ display with minimal bezels-18:9 aspect ratio, USB Type C, water resistance, etc.

The last three you mentioned are a wishlist request. Ideally, a FP sensor would be underneath the OLED panel and the bezels are completely gone with one metal-glass slab, but that's not going to happen any time soon.

And of course the S8/S8+ are much more attractive with the price and features because the Note 8 is a slight upgrade. That's how technology works. The LG G6 is a much more price friendly version of the LG V30.

Top notch design and not surprised they've opted to go with a dual-camera lens. The dual optical image stabilisation feature is pretty neat and the camera quality looks amazing.

No doubt it will be their best seller, even after the troubles with the previous Note device.
Seriously doubt it. The Note has never been Samsung's best seller. The Note has never been in Samsung's top 5 in sales.

Here are Note 8 Specs :-
Can you just post thumbnails? Please. :) Those huge images you favor are a bit too large.

So, it’s basically the Samsung audio jack.

For Samsung-compatible headphones, while the rest of the world is using Bluetooth.

See how that works?

Samsung has Bluetooth 5.0 on board.
They give you options, because they seem to care about the customer.

The Apple way is:
Put Earpods with Lightning connector to the box, which nobody uses (it's not even an "Apple audio jack", since you cant plug it into a Macbook)
Then they also throw in an adapter which you have to carry around.
And when you do use it, like my friends do in their cars, you get noise because the adapter is made poorly.

What a gorgeous device. If there's a silver lining from the Note 7 fiasco last year, it's this -- you can bet that the battery in the Note 8 is probably the safest, most inspected on the market.

Also, while the Note 8 is significantly larger screen than the upcoming iPhone 8, we can't give Apple too much flak about a $1000 phone anymore, seeing that the Note 8 starts at $960. Oof!
