just like movies , if it’s released in many places BEFORE the US it’s because there are issues with the product or there is very little hope for it

Just like when Apple releases a service like the Apple Credit Card in the USA long before Europe, because the stronger consumer protection laws in Europe mean they would be declared illegal

Meanwhile Apple is about to announce the re-release of the iPhone XS with a 20% price bump to cover the 15% China tariff

The new price point makes the iPhone even more "premium"

Checkmate China

I think you missed the time when they already did that.

They will in 3 years and people will claim Apple invented bendables :D...considering the iPhone 6 / iPad Pro 2018 issue they might even be right :p
Considering they have had patents posted on the site for a couple of years now, and Samsung is their supplier for screens, it makes you wonder how much Apple’s work has influenced Samsung. Why do you never have patents from them leaked years in advance?

Kudos to Samsung for actually trying something ‘new’ and I’m sure there’ll be a market for folding smartphones but I won’t be buying one from them nor Huawei, Apple etc.

Mind you if it wasn’t for the likes of Samsung we’d probably be stuck with 3.5” screens ;-)

All companies have hits and misses. How's that homepod doing?
HomePod is selling well against its real competitors. It was never meant to sell against throw away loss leader horrible sounding speakers that were meant to gather data or get you to buy stuff. By the way, they aren’t fulfilling their true purpose as order takers and they are being shut down on the data side by regulators.

IF apple ever builds a foldable phone, it will be when the technology is ready. But I'm happy Samsung is trying new things, keeps their fans happy.
Really and truly you don't know if anything is ready until it gets out into the wild. I wouldn't say that the original feature light iPhone, (slow as molasses - no MMS - crappy battery life - etc), was 100% ready but they released it anyway.
I applaud them for trying even if it fails.

Samsung says Sep 6 for Korea.

That's a fact, not a rumour, therefore.. MR must have omitted it ;D

I've never seen anyone claim Apple invented anything that another phone had first. Where does this even come from?

+1 to this. Apple doesn't 'invent', it 're-invents'. It takes what Samsung are doing today, and in three years time makes it actually reliable... useful... intuitive... desirable to the masses. And it's clearly working out for them!

Instead of hatred, why can't we just say good luck to Samsung and its foldable phone, after all they are the first one to bring this tech to the market...

What the f has Samsung done to you Apple fans personally to bash them right away :) if it's not jealousy then what?

Well Samsung is commendable when it comes to innovation, I think they were the one to really popularize wireless charging and OLED screen.

Excited for this! Obviously won't be buying this model (and likely few will) but genuine excitement for where this technology will be in 2-3 years. Good on Samsung for pushing it forward.
Great post. I'm right there with you. Anyone who can't see that for many use cases (surfing the net, watching videos/streaming, gaming) this is a great solution just refuses to get their head out of the sand or let go of their Apple bias. But yeah, need to see how it holds up under normal use (not idiot Tech Bloggers trying to make it fail or just being ignorant), how developers embrace it, and the price has to come down to at least parity with just buying a flagship smartphone and tablet - ~$1500.

Current foldable devices are useless. Perhaps Apple will come up with ones that make sense.

Lol just like exploding iPhone and exploding mbp...
Did Apple have to discontinue the entire production of some model because the CONSTRUCTION caused problems with the battery? Apple, like any company, sometimes has a problem with a batch of batteries bought from an external manufacturer.
