Interesting analogy, but that doesn't explain the hatred towards Samsung. An artist doesn't hate the shop where he/she buys their materials do they? Perhaps we should be thankful and applaud Samsung for providing the parts in our iPhones.
Assuming you have the necessary attention span, try reading this rather long article. It explains the Samsung hate (at least for me), very well: Apple-Samsung smartphone war

Although It's often impossible to avoid purchasing products made with Samsung components, I do attempt to do so whenever it's convenient. I certainly don't buy Samsung-branded products.

Well, some people treat tech giants and competing platforms as a religion. It is stupid but the way it is. I love my Samsung galaxy S8 and writing this comment on my iPad Pro.

What a well rounded point of view, I'm not going to argue any more.

Everything you said is true. But I can't work out how Apple fans can separate in their minds Samsung mobile Division and Samsung Electronic Division. It's like "we hate your phones, but please keep making great components for our iPhones, pretty please".

And here's the irony, If there Electronic Division is so great at making components for Apple, why would you think the mobile division wouldn't use the exact same parts found in an iPhone for the hated Samsung phones?

Here’s the part you’re having issues wrapping your head around.... (it's actually quite simple!):
Absolutely NOBODY here hates Samsung Mobile because they think their top tier phones are made out of bogus parts.
NOBODY!!!!
NOT ONE PERSON!!!
That is a straw man you’ve set up, because it’s easy to argue with.
You’ve made dozens and dozens and dozens of posts reiterating that Samsung makes quality parts.
Ummm, ok. Who do you think you’re trying to convince??
We all know that...
Sure, a few components of theirs aren’t top-notch, but certainly most of them are.
So......... 1st things first- PLEASE get off that subject. Please.
Literally not a single person here has said differently. STOP trying to pretend like that proves some “greater” point.

Ok, now that’s out of the way... on to the REAL conversation!! =)
People here hate Samsung Mobile, not because they think the hardware innards are shoddy, but because we are fundamentally disgusted by their BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! By the fact that they control 90% of the Android market through momentum from their initial theft of Apple’s IP. They cheated. They stole. They lie. They litigate. At this point.... their sleazy strategy has been 100% successful; and that offends people of a particular moral fiber as well. To see the slimiest & sneakiest criminals being so handsomely rewarded. As Jony said- he & his team didn’t find it “flattering”... they may give up the better part of a year, barely seeing their families, toiling on a particular new design. It’s a slap in the face when Samsung cranks out a “good enuf” version 10 weeks later- because Apple did the heavy lifting!
I fully admit that NOW they are finally really differentiating, but look at the S6! It was a carbon copy of the iPhone 6... even to the point that they removed SD card and water resistance and removable battery (all of which were supposed advantages of S5 over the 5S and none of which USERS were calling to be removed).
We are appalled by this and offended by this and do NOT want to see them succeed!!
If you feel differently.... so be it.
I know I’m certainly not judging you.
Some people boycott companies whose practices they disapprove of, while some do not. Some simply buy what is cheap, or what they like, and have no other opinions or weighted factors.
You happen to be in a (virtual) room with a great deal of people who DO care.
I hope this elucidates the thought process on our part, and you no longer feel compelled to repeat ad nauseam the tired facts that currently Samsung is a decent parts procurement firm. We gotcha on that part! Please feel us on this part...

7nm. Wow. I can't even wrap my brain around that.

How small can the tolerances be before they start seeing quantum effects? What about plain old electrical seepage between traces?

Anybody know what the theoretical limit is using current technology?

Sean

I’ve heard the 1nm threshold refererred to as a theoretical max shrinkage, without solving other issues....
That’s still “research lab” only kinda stuff: Stanford, Berkeley, and UT- I believe.

You missed my point. When I said design, I am including all of the hardware components. What I also said is, 99% of iPhone users don't care who made the underlying parts. Who cares if Samsung makes parts of a phone designed by Apple?
I stand corrected and take your point. Loads of forum dwellers here do tho and justify it by saying that it isn't outwardly branded.

Exactly. I have a Samsung TV, Samsung 4K monitor, and I use Samsung 850 EVO SSDs in several of my computers. All of those products work great and I would recommend them to anyone. I just can't bring myself to buy products from their mobile division, however. All these strange comments about "LOL I bet Apple fans hate this news" are really out of place.
What a convoluted attempt to justify Samsung hatred.

Unlike Apple haters on this forum, I don't buy products from companies I don't like. I like Samsung. Under no circumstances does "can't bring myself to buy products from their mobile division" mean I dislike Samsung. Maybe I just appreciate phones with polished software that receive regular, timely updates for several years after I purchase them?

I apologize for not considering Samsung to be perfect, I guess?
