Exactly the thing is once individuals start using one then why would you need two separate devices when one can be both and my mum loves hers because when she’s out it’s just treated like a single screen phone and when she’s in doors it gets opened up into tablet format and it’s very practical plus she’s got the blue shadow one and it also looks good

Not quite. You could buy three m5 iPad pros for the price of one of these. It may make watching star wars more fun but all these devices dont solve the issue of serious work.
It had to be said a tri fold will likely cost more than a 1TB Vision Pro so it’s not likely to sell much at all and Samsung can’t produce enough even if it did.
When Apple release their foldable it will be because they can produce enough supply to meet demand. Apple are late of course but over the next two years will likely sell more than all foldables combined over the last several years
If a tri fold is going to cost 3-4k if not more people are just better off carrying around their 11 inch iPad Pro with them or buy a Vision Pro whiz will offer a far better media content experience and better multitasking granted will be used in different settings but point still stands
Going from 8 inch display to 10 inch isn’t really changing much at all aside from costing the consumer a lot more even if the tech is cool

Why would you buy 3 of the same item
When you can have a phone & tablet in one
That you can fold into a phone when walking about & then sitting down open it up to use as a tablet rather than carrying two items with you then you only need one.
So your point is redundant

And they don’t sell gazillions because it will push more individuals to purchase the foldable because it’s more in reach so then it makes the fold a more reasonable purchase because they are comparing against a trifold that’s the point

certain individuals on MR need to look at the bigger picture in regards to foldable’s and maybe think it’s a business decision why apple haven’t released a flip or foldable or trifold device based on Apple’s business model in terms of mobile’s
Yeah sure, but I am pretty sure they will come down in price eventually.
I currently use both a phone & a tablet.
The serious problem you mentioned has more to do with the software not being powerful enough.
Individuals don’t purchase foldable’s phones to do serious work what individuals like my mum & my work colleagues who have purchased various versions of the fold do is use it as a phone & as a tablet because it’s two devices in one because it makes sense to individuals to have one device that does both than have two separate devices
Samsung will make it affordable when they bring out their trifold unlike apple
I mentioned the serious work part to respond to the guy above. I am sure people who already can do serious work on tablets will do that on foldables once they become mainstream.
The reason why that guy mentioned serious work is because apple doesn’t have a foldable out and he’s dismissing that Samsung’s foldable’s are any good because apple doesn’t have one so that’s why he mentioned laptops
3 m5 iPad pros blow the doors off one foldable.
The amount of horsepower in an m5 iPad pro will make the foldable look like it’s standing still. My point stands you’re paying for a crease. Different strokes for different folks. Samsung will release it and we’ll check out the sales and longevity.
All tech comes down in price and some fades into the sunset.
I use a phone , iPad, laptop and desktop. My laptop has 2 monitors and my desktop has 3. It’s going to be a while before tablets and foldables catch up.
It does make a difference as if samsung are making basically no money out of the cost to make it will affect everything. Juist because this is 3k and other foldables they have is 1500 or less doesn't change how people buy the devices. People aren't more likely to buy a foldable just because one is cheaper over the other.
apple haven't released a foldable as it has only just become a good option from a durability point of view and a thinness point of view. For apple to make a foldable there has to been many factors which make sense and supply and demand is also massive. Other brands they won't need to make so many but apple needs to have enough supply to meet demand.
That’s my point it doesn’t matter to Samsung if they’re trifold is 3k as it will push more individuals to purchase the fold because it more reachable for individuals because there is a higher priced item

Apple can’t as a company just release a foldable mobile at a high price point because they’re business model for mobiles relies on a gazillions of sales so for that particular product so if they don’t hit the projected target then it’s not worth their while however Samsung doesn’t operate like that in terms of their foldable’s because it’s about giving customers choices

Most individuals People don’t give a stuff about how powerful mobile chips are when they purchase products because if you asked most individuals they would think the M5 was a stretch of road

That equals about 4000
When you can purchase one device for about
1700 that does both things so instead of carrying two devices about with you then you only have one that does both things
Well there have been 7 generations of foldable’s from Samsung and it’s not discontinued if anything they keep improving it because the fold 7 has a level of fit and finish that not even Apple can make

As I said though people who buy fold 7 aren't doing so because it's a cheaper version. What other folds that they have cost doesn't really matter. a tri fold isn't really helping or solving any problem aside from costing even higher on what is a lower volume product.
Apple can release a high priced product if it's a completely new category and benefit greatly from. The foldable iphone will likely sell more in one batch than other foldables have for past few years if they can meet demand. Benefit with apple tablets and soon to be foldable iPhone is the app optimisation and why it will simply be a better tablet form factor as it will make use better of the bigger screens which current foldables have struggled with. even a tri fold will certainly be good for content apps could look worse as android tablets apps aren't as good in the bigger form factor as they are mainly just blown up apps and not made for tablet usage.

Right now Samsung has a flip & a foldable
The foldable is about 1,700 and that’s the top tier foldable device that Samsung produces
So once the trifold is released at over 2,000
Then naturally individuals will psychologically think the foldable device at 1,700 is a better choice because they are comparing it against the trifold’s price so in turn it’s designed to not actually sell gazillions but to drive sales of other Samsung phones by bringing customers up in price point.
From a business point of view apple can’t just release a flip or a foldable device because they need to convince gazillions of customers to purchase said foldable or it will go the same way as the iPhone mini apparently gazillions of apple customers wanted one yet sales were poor for apple so it went the same as the dodo bird but this doesn’t matter to Samsung because they have a different approach
As they are not investor focused unlike
Tim Cook and because of that this is how Samsung’s flagship devices are technically better and using the latest technologies compared with apple because they can do things that Apple can’t

No no I'm just saying i don't feel samsung having 3 foldables at different price points has much difference in what people decide to buy.
Apple are only releasing a foldable as they finally see it being worth it. It's come to a point where the tech is good enough to be dependable for most people from a duabilty point of view, weight and overall thickness. The display and overall crease has always been a struggle on foldables but apple from sounds could finally fix this or have it really reduced to where it wouldn't be noticeable. Apple have been testing this tech for years and it's simply a reason why it's only just coming to market.
Technology wise samsung aren't really doing anything different to apple. Spec wise they are pretty much the same now.
Apple has bigger sensors, same level of ram, higher panel display being 10bit, brighter screens just as an example.
Samsung has more al due to joining forces with gemini which apple should've done 2 years ago but here they are using gemini models now for 2026. so al wise might not be too far off in a year's time but again thats guessing games.

Exactly the reason I avoid Samsung products including refrigerators, washers, phones and tablets. Not being investor focused means not being customer focused. And it shows in their products of which some are treated as short time disposable products imo.

Is 1,149 and fold 7 is 1,700 to purchase now that is some jump but the minute you add a trifold to that over 2,000 then 1,700 doesn’t seem that big a spend in comparison because you now have a more expensive option.

Love it so basically Samsung does all the donkey work by utilising and perfecting new technologies and advancements for then apple to comedown the track later on by releasing one of their own but Samsung aren’t a more innovative company because they sell and have released multiple versions of these devices first consistently by pushing new technologies into the world

This is incorrect about same ram in flagship devices and better panels or camera sensors or cellular chips & WiFi chips because what you will find is Samsung use more ram in flagship devices and more latest chips like things I’ve just mentioned
If you’re one of your points is apple will only release a foldable when it’s worth it is certainly true because this company under Tim Cook is more about investors than innovation that is why Samsung as a company can & do push boundaries in mobile technology because they don’t have to worry about investors

Not being investor focused shows in their financials when revenue in like for like business divisions are compared to Apple.
A for profit company that is not investor focused is not customer focused because customers drive revenue.
Again investor focused meaning they won’t launch a new product unless investors will think it’s worth while meaning that it’s bean counting so then a company like Samsung can release a trifold because the technology is there but Apple have to wait and see if individuals will purchase it and it’s the same as AI that’s why other companies are so far ahead in that compared with Apple Intelligence because as a company they can’t take the chance so that is why other companies are more innovative than apple under Tim Cook prioritising income over innovation
That’s incorrect. Apple is customer focused which in turn drives revenue. Any for profit publicly traded companies has a duty to count the beans.
Or release it early before it’s really ready. It means Samsung can release a product and move on. The customers that bought the product are screwed.
Ai is going to be a commodity. Just like compute power today is a commodity. Apple recognizes this and they have the power of their ecosystem. They sont worry about the flavor of the month.
