Good I'm glad, because Apple SHOULD be told to stop mucking around and to take on Google. I think they are either too scared to take Google on, or, as is the most likely factor Apple refuses to take Google on because Samsung is the one who has the market share selling the devices, and this is what Apple wants, to block its competitors over bogus claims and cases in order to damage them and claim more market share itself.
Which is just business as usual, I guess it's cheaper to sue a competitor then it is to spend money on R&D?

Samsung is Already in the Medical Devices / Health Field

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/healthcare/

But that doesn't mean they have the partnerships to make a viable consumer ecosystem which is the direction it appears apple is pushing towards. I can only
imagine apple has learned how Samsung conducts business and intends to make it extremely difficult for them to repeat what happened with the iPhone/iPad.

They all "steal." Are you forgetting Apple was also found guilty of infringement?

They do all steal to some degree and "settle later."

But there's stealing Tic-Tacs from the store and then there's stealing cars off the lot and selling them to unsuspecting buyers.
Both are wrong. One is far worse and the law would agree with me.

Google is a harder target. In the beginning, Google DELIBERATELY left something's in Android less optimal than iPhone, partly because they wanted to stay "one step" from crossing the patent line. As seen in the trial, it was Samsung that took their custom Android skin and made it nearly identical to iPhone... Right down to documented design committee decisions to use "Google's way" or "Apple's way"

Interesting point. I assume Google would be more difficult to go after, which is why it seems to me Apple is using this flanking maneuver. I take it this is what the jury foreman is saying, essentially,

Because in the case of this suit Samsung had infringed on apples patents. Not googles version of android. Apple has no case against google. They did against Samsung. Also because Samsung refused to license the patents as others have.

You do what's best for you. I find it amusing though that people post that they'll never buy X product again. Ok. Then don't. You don't even need a good reason lol

I have no problem with competition but Samsung is a scum company that does not deserve one bit of its success in any market.

I don’t know, I think they came by their success in the defense sector legitimately. I haven’t done a ton of research though, so that might not be accurate.

There's no missed point, other than for you.

Samsung takes business practices to an all-time low. They blatantly copy others, down to the smallest details, in both hardware and software. Then they shred evidence and appeal everything.

I don't think Apple is an angel of a company, but Samsung is definitely a **** of a company. Even Microsoft didn't stoop to these lows.

I would imagine they probably bought nearly all their defense tech from the US. Most of our allies do, especially those with insane neighboring countries.

Absolutely, because code that would infringe on a patent doesn't actually infringe on anything _until it is installed on an actual device_.

Wait a second.... Samsung has just been convicted. For the second time. So what do you suggest is bogus about Apple's claims?

I hope Samsung is not guilty of Jury tampering in this case.
Might be worth while for :apple: to hire PI's to see if there is a drastic change in life style of any of the jurors in the next year. LOL.

I have no idea what you mean by missed point. Again - do whatever you want. You don't need to justify your hatred or reluctance to purchase a product by a specific manufacturer. Just don't.

Unless you're trying to rally support behind your cause. Then I think your post needs a call to action. A survey of who might feel the same. A petition. Something?

So they tampered, lost and are going to Appeal. Is that what you're suggesting?

Reform the system. Get rid of jury trials for patents. The patent office should have a patent court run by a panel of judges who are experts in patent law. Settle these cases quickly, decide what fair and reasonable lisensing terms are, and ban companies that won't play by the rules.

A wunch is a humourous term that refers to the plurality of bankers, and could now extend to Samsung executives.

It's hilarious that they even try to defend things stolen for their toy phones- they're just a predictable joke.

Hard to sue a company that can claim no profit to the sell of product i.e. cell phone. The nexus is a flop b/c they don't make that much of them. Samsung, any way you want to cut it, is a piece of S&%$ company aggressively stems any real creative productivity in the market. It's only my opinion that we are doomed for another 90's era flatbed of churning out junk without any innovation. That is if companies like SAMSUNG can cheat and cut into everything innovative someone can make.
What it boils down to is pure human greed at it's best.
Lets keep in mind that Apple has had everybody duplication every hit product they have ever made. Can you call it prejudice that they are defending they're main stake profit generator. It's not like Apple is making appliances or running a huge search engine. They simply sell products and rent for media access i.e. music, movies.

MAIN POINT: Samsung creates an uncompetitive market that drains innovation motivation. Just ask Sharp and other companies they've stolen from. Just pull our forces from the 38th parallel and let them fend for themselves.

The problem is Apple HAS the money.
It simply does not want to make items customers want.

It makes items, then persuades customers they want it.

For years (and it nearly killed them) People wanted cheap desktop mac's great graphics cards. Mac's could of been THE gaming platform but they just kept it all too locked down and lost and it pretty much killed them till Steve came back with the iToy stuff.

Same with phones.

Apple COULD for the past few years of been offering various sized phones at various price points running iOS and not allowed Android to take over.

But no, again, like the desktop they kept things locked down and now Android in ownership terms is miles ahead.

They are great at making what THEY want to make, and making money from their loyal fanbase.

Locked down systems NEVER win in the long term.

Apple's iPhone profits would like to disagree.
I'll take Apple's iPhone profits over Samsung's larger sales number any day of the week.

Locking down (in Apple's case) seems to be working very well. Less security issues and still huge profits. Apple being locked down is what has been their unique feature and it's one reason why people have bought Apple over the years. Remove that and Apple won't ever be the game, and it will not be a good thing.

And I applaud Apple for not entering the phablet market thus far. And I hope they stay out of it forever. It's just a bag of hurt.

Apple are at a peak, people move on in time and want more
Apple have to give more or lose.

Bit by bit Apple has to give in and open up

Hang on. Did someone, named Thomas Dunham, just say something that made sense? I'm not used to anybody saying things to the press that make sense, or that isn't a lie, or that isn't being said to cover someone's ass. Excuse me, but I'm going to have to go lay down for a bit.

Why is he speaking to the press at all. Other than to make a name for himself.

I understand very well how big Samsung is. I know they are in almost every gadget you can buy, including Apple's. I know that won't change anytime soon. Still samsung's corrupt business of copy first and stall until it's too late to matter needs to stop. I really do hope apple can manage to create a market that Samsung can not easily copy.
I don't think you do. Samsung is one of just a handful of chaebols that run South Korea. Where the USA seems mostly corporate-controlled these days when you analyze politicians' activities, Korea is actually controlled by these conglomerate companies. Samsung makes almost every product you can imagine for Korea, not just "gadgets". Housing, electronics, industrial, etc.

Guess which is the biggest chaebol for many years, now.

Well you are buying products full of Samsung components.

So you won't buy a Case and OS made by Samsung, but you'd but it if all other parts of the device were made by them?

What are your rules?

If Apple make the Case, and iOS and Samsung make all the inside, screen, batter, CPU/GPU would you still buy it as an Apple product despite is really being a Samsung phone in an Apple case?

I know that's not the case right now, but would you buy it?

People who hate Samsung should stop buying Apple products that contains Samsung components, otherwise you are giving your approval.

You can't have it both ways.

I hate Samsung, but happy to buy things full of Samsung parts and I'll pretend they are not in there as I can't see them.

But, there's a big problem in your comment:

1) Apple designs their own chips, sends blue prints to the Samsung and Samsung manufactures them. They DO NOT design them, so iPhone has APPLE technology not Samsung

2) I am pretty sure he was trying to tell that he would never buy a SAMSUNG BRANDED product like a Samsung TV, Galaxy device etc. Because they can use their nasty business strategy on their own products not manufacturing

3) Only Apple A7 is manufactured by Samsung in new iDevices. As I know, screen is manufactured by LG, Camera is manufactured by Sony, Apple M7 is manufactured by TSMC, and most of the things are assembled by Foxconn

4) I would be very happy to see Samsung going bankrupt. Because now, it's not a war between Samsung & Google vs. Apple, it's like Good vs. Bad. If Samsung wins that war, a lot of companies will follow Samsung's non-ethic way and it will kill innovation, we will have some non-innovate, corrupt companies that would do everything for getting more money.

You assume wrong again. I did know that. I know how big Samsung is. That doesn't mean they can copy everything successfully. It is also safe to assume that in 5-10 years when apple and hopefully others stop using samsung's chips in their products and Samsung starts losing money as a result we may see them lost a significant amount of their power.

Bring Da Hamma Down!!

Apple this time needs to tag on all the legal fees to the amount owed by Samsung, and restitution for delayed payment from them stalling, along with corporate douchebag fines as well.
