I'd imagine it's the point for Samsung.
Breaking News: Manufacturer would like to outsell the competition.
What a joke to make a pointless comment about sales, then make up an even more pointless reason for it. How embarrassing. Smh

Got to be the face unlock or the oled screen, or the edge to edge display.
I know Samsung had them first, for years even, but they heard Apple were going to do it so rushed to beat Apple to the punch.
But always remember Apple are never first but always right!!!
The iris scanning is secure enough.Samsung's unlock could not be used for any real security (a photo unlocked...), so Samsung was a joke and still is.

Samsung are not trying to upstage Apple. They’ve announced the note in August almost every year since it’s inception.I wasn't expecting you to take it so personally and get this upset about it. The whole article is about Samsung trying to upstage Apple. It doesn't make any sense to me considering they can't outsell a 2 year old iPhone. Samsung needs to focus on marketing their features and what makes their products great, not trying to beat Apple. Unfortunately their users only seem to care about that as well. It's pretty embarrassing that they flock to Apple sites trying to convince others that their preferred products are so much better, yet a 2 year old iPhone sells better.
The iris scanning is secure enough.
And apparently the FPS under the screen. Not really. Actually not at all.
Samsung is rumoured to be dropping iris scanning from the s10.
They are adding 3D facial recognition that’s similar to the iPhone X.
Samsung's unlock could not be used for any real security
Neither is Face ID since they're classified as conveniences rather than security.
Iris scanner > fingerprint > face unlock

Also the note has never been Samsung’s big seller so I don’t think they would use that to try and out do Apple.
Samsung are not going to outsell Apple. That ship has sailed. They have no chance now.

Got it, makes sense. I thought they had pushed up the release. I still don't get it from a marketing perspective though.
And not paying taxes is what lets them stockpile all that cash.
Been an iOS guy since day 1 but switched to the s8 last year and now the note 8 and loving it! The new Galaxy phones are beautiful compared to the iPhone 8 and X. Also love some of the Samsung features like the edge panel and of course I can customize just about anything I want. Also, I can charge my phone, icon x 2018 with my MacBook charger... Can't so that with an iphone
What's your definition of news? This is one of the worlds largest companies inviting the press to the release of one it's flagship products. On a tech website that's news.
Really your response is just an attempt to throw shade at a product your not interested in.
I like this forum for its range of responses but the hate for Samsung from some users is odd to me despite this being an Apple orientated forum. The reason being is I think everyone should feel positive to Samsung, even if you don't purchase their products, because while they continue to innovate and manufacture they keep Apple on their toes and stop them from being lazy. This is a win for everyone.
The Note series along with a few other models from HTC etc helped drive Apple to finally release plus sized iPhones. For this I'm thankful as really enjoy owning a 7+.
But they all got announced at IFA/Samsung unpacked which is in August. Release dates were always later due to production and staggering the release in different regions. No you were right.
The note was released at the end of October
The note 3 And 4 were September
The note 2 and 8 were the last week of August
The note 5 was in the middle of August
The note 7.....2 of August.
Iris scanner is secure enough but it’s crap. Turned it off on my note 8.Don’t know where your getting your information from but faced is secure
Didn’t you hear Samsung is dropping iris scanner in the s10 for a Face ID clone. Somebody is going to be eating crow in a couple of months.
They don’t but they are all at it. All the companies, google, Apple, amazon do it. Apple are rich because they sell a lot of high end devices period. They pay the appropriate taxes including a huge amount of VAT put on their products in Europe; in fact they're one of companies that pay the most.
You can verify that instead of spitting nonsense.
They respected Irish tax laws; it's Ireland seemingly that fracked up and that's what this whole thing is all about.
If you hate the current tax laws, bitch about that instead.

blah blah blah blah, thanks for "telling" me that.

I said IFA/ unpacked. That’s not true either, the original galaxy note through the note 4 were unveiled at IFA, but the note 5, note 7, and note 8 have all been unveiled in NYC.
The note 9 is scheduled to be unveiled in NYC as well.
Samsung will not let you pay wit iris scan because it’s insecure, crap or otherwise.
Your right, it's more than obvious from many comments that this shouldn't be news on this website. if it ain't Apple.....Oh, I think you're misunderstanding my point. I have no hate towards any brand... well maybe some brands, but definitely not Samsung. I'm simply stating the obvious that anyone informed on the current state of mobile phones is already aware of.
As for throwing shade, you need to remember this is an Apple based site with a lot of Apple enthusiasts. Obvious, obvious... shade.
I said IFA/ unpacked.
Unpacked is Samsung’s own event.
Wow. The amount of haterade that is being spilled over this story is mind blowing. 1. There will be NO NOTCH. Just because you all have to deal with that doesn’t mean the rest of us have to. 2. Why do you insist on bringing up the Note 7 EVERY time there is a story about the Samsung Note series. That was many moons ago. You don’t see my bringing up “Antenna gate” or “Bendgate”. Stop it. 3. I have a Note 8 and it is a thing of beauty. No nasty bumps on the front and back like your tiny Apple X.
BTW, I’m no Apple hater. I’m writing this on my beloved iPad Pro 10.5..never leave home without it.
Not true. You can use iris scanning with Samsung pay. It’s the face unlock you can’t use. That’s not true either, the original galaxy note through the note 4 were unveiled at IFA, but the note 5, note 7, and note 8 have all been unveiled in NYC.

how can you be a hater if you use Apple products?Talking about notes in a note thread,
Yeah the note 7 exploded and got recalled , stop being sensitive and get over it.
Sure comparing an exploding recalled phone that did physical damage is to a phone that bends easily.
Yeah sure your no hater, because you have an iPad. Gold star for you.
Btw there are plenty of apple haters on the board that use iPads iPhones and/or macs
They’ve mostly unveiled them in August, either at their own avents (unpacked) or at IFA. IFA is usually at the end of the month and unpacked is usually towards fed beginning. Apple usually unveil the new iPhone in September but it’s not always on the same date. You first said almost all notes were unveiled in August, then backtracked and said you meant ifa unpacked events. Who cares.
The other poster was right Samsung is unveiling their flagship earlier than than usual before the ifa, just like with the note 7.
The note has traditionally been announced in August pretty much since its inception. It used to be unveiled at IFA towards the end of the month but for the last few years Samsung have been holding their own unpacked events before IFA.
