Why do they (Samsung) always market there new phone competing with LAST year's iPhone!

Message to Samsung,..Your 2022 model phone should be compared to Apples 2022 model when it is released in about 6 months, not last year's iPhone! ?‍♂️
Actually the 13 pro line is what the s22 ultra should be compared with. S21 ultra has been out over a year.

I understand your joke, but seeing iPhone users here upgrading their iPhones on a yearly basis anyway, does it matter in context of people here? :D

I used my 8+ for 4 years before upgrading to the 13 pro max last year, which I also expect to hang on to for the next 3-4 years as well. So yes, I do appreciate the continued support.

S22 ultra will likely be the best phone on the market just like the S21 ultra was. Built in S pen is great to see back as it’s certainly a great thing too have when you need it. The tablets will be interesting certainly the 14.6 model but not a fan of a notch on a tablet or laptops.

And Samsung flagships now are getting 3 years of OS upgrades and 4th year of security updates. So I think that's pretty good and matches many people's upgrade cycle ;) I mean we can joke about Android updates, and although that's still valid for other OEMs, I think we should also admit that Samsung is doing better.

So…only their flagships? No such luck for their other cheaper models?

Even the back of these phones look great, no awful camera bump.
I think it's about time to switch.

I'm pretty excited for this event. Haven't had a Galaxy since the Note 10 and I loved that phone. Played with the S21 Ultra at the store and it was just amazing. And now the Galaxy watches have WearOS and actually don't suck. Samsung has come a long way.

“108-megapixel main camera” on a smartphone? Seriously? The file sizes would be insane and a picture in a dark area would be all noise. Yes, I know about pixel binning, even so, let’s not go down this rabbit hole. Give me larger pixels, not more!
Quite a pointless comment.
It's Samsung's like 4th generation 108mp sensor (S20U, Note20U, S21U) so from where does this big surprise come from?
Also Yes, it does pixel binnig and outputs 12MP photos so what's the point in complaining about file size and low light photos?
And also a binned pixel is like 2.4µmm so what's the problem?

Last year's iphone?
You do realize thta the iphone 13 line is Apple's latest for the next 9 months?

I think these look good. Completely my opinion of course, but I can’t understand how these would be considered uglier than iPhones.

Yes such luck for cheaper models. My 200€ A52s(I got it with a nice deal on Black Friday) also gets the same support as Samsung's flagships. So does the regular A52, the A51, A71, A72, A42 and so on. Also the S20FE, S21FE so it's not just their flagships that get 4 years of support.

Good to know.

Really exited to see their new cameras. And despite popular opinion here, I really like that hole punch they do in the front. Maybe they can make it more useful with proper facial recognition though.

Samsung has a good record in developing and manufacturing sophisticated electronic components, some great and some not so great. Its the right combination of wisely chose hardware and software components that makes a product super. Unfortunately Samsung is just not good with software (in- and outsourced) and that breaks their phones so much.

Samsung makes good phones, do take great photos but the software to manage it all... horrible. I always feel like its rushed through development just have something on the market fast. I wish that they would take more time into software development. Apple is doing better, but they seem to rush things too in the last 10 years.

That used to be the case but one UI software is rather great now. Would say it’s the most stable OS out there. More stable than iOS

I agree, don’t like the non-rounded corners, as I am typing on my 13ProMax with my pinkie right on the rounded corner.
I think this is the max size for a phone…
Depends on your hands, I guess. The S22 Ultra seems to look almost 1:1 like the Note 20 Ultra and this phone has never been uncomfortable to me for the last 1,5 years. I actually love the fact that the screen is squared and not rounded as in my former iPhone X.

Can't wait to see what the S22 Ultra holds. Looking to upgrade to that.
I believe hardware-wise it will push the bar up again. And the iPhone 14 Pro will raise that and so on. I am glad we have great hardware choices out there because that gives us better products. Where Samsung loses me is Android. There are just too many benefits for me to stay in the Apple ecosystem, and thus will continue to use an iPhone Pro.
