There are people on this thread talking about Apple like they are a battle worn underdog and happy to see Samsung get glory. You do realize neither company is poor, right? You on the other hand will be $1,000 dollars poorer buying either just to do the same thing: selfie, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter.

Thank you. I swear, you'd think Samsung had reinvented the wheel with this. It's pretty much what I expected. They were under the gun to have a hit with this after the exploding phones last year. And, it looks a good deal like the front of all the renders based on iPhone leaks we've seen.

The back looks different and I've never cared for those centered cameras, but that's a Samsung thing and if they moved it, they'd really look like they were copying Apple's iPhone designs, so they won't.

It's a phone, not a cure for ebola.

I expect iPhone to look similar.

Just more Apple-y.

It really does. It shows how inefficient the use of space on the iPhone is. The dimensions are roughly the same as the 6/6S/7 and they fit a 5.8" screen into the same body. Same with the Plus... they fit a 6.2" screen into a 5.5" body. Amazing.
I agree. the bezels on the iPhone are gross and have been for quite some time now...there is so much wasted space

If Apple doesn't redesign the iPhone it's going to be a bloodbath. I'm sick of the home button and the huge bezels. I am thinking about pre-odering this beauty, but it seems like they've added a lot more software junk...

You're "sick" of the home button? every single phone has a home button til now, don't fix whats not broken.

Now THIS is how to make a futuristic looking smartphone. The older Galaxy S models left a bad taste in my mouth, but this is (physically) what the iPhone 8 should be. Gorgeous ultra-wide AMOLED screen, sleek slender bezels, on-screen navigation buttons... what's not to love. It makes my iPhone SE look dated by comparison.

Because always-on screens are not new. When you have an amoled screen, it is easy to show the clock and/or notifications on the screen without turning the whole screen on (and without hurting battery life).

Ah, is that all they mean then? Not full always on.

Even today the S7 Edge has the same physical screen size as an iPhone 7 Plus. The latter one being a physically much bigger device.

Sexy af. Need a new phone this year, my 6 is getting too slow and beginning to look pretty ugly (always thought it was but even more so now).. now I can't justify buying a 7 because I've left it this late(and don't want the giant bezels anymore anyway).

Aghh, Apple please don't let me down. I can wait but please let it be worth it.

From the front it is stunning: minimalistic and Apple like.
The rear is **** again, Apple does that better.

Software updates will be ****** from Samsung , so Apple wins.
Tho , lately iOS is more buggy then ever. But hey! iMessage emoji's come first!

This is the first time Samsung made a design that challenges the iPhone
if the next one corrects the rear of the S8 , and better support for update's Apple is in trouble.

The f*cked up thing for Apple is that +50% of their sales are iPhones , so if they fck that up...

You get what you pay for. I have absolutely no issue paying $1,000 for a great iPhone. A lot of other people might, but I don't. However, I do expect it to be one damn good phone for the price.

When you're paying $600+ for a phone, any and all should be good. The truth is, Apple has re-introduced it's Apple Tax with "Pro" mobile devices and the iPhone 8 will be no different. That's ignoring the $98 markup on capacity on current models. You're going to tell me with a straight face that the iPhone 8 is worth $350 more than the iPhone 7s? No, no it's not. The scarcity of the device, whether it's real or manufactured, is what will allow them to drive the price up.

And in 2018, we'll either see iPhone 8s replace iPhon7s..S? which is what you'd expect, but seeing how Tim loves doing this on all their mobile devices, he'll create the "Pro" split and explain it as a higher cost out of "hard to make" and maintain it once it's not.

Software & user experience.

Android is horrible.
GF and a dozen of her closest friends have iPhones and iPads.

I should have switched to iPhone years ago because I miss out on a tonne of information and socialization by not having iMessage.

As an IT guy though I observed the platform first and found it to be simultaneously horribly limited and horribly unreliable.

My Note 1 and Note 4 have crushed every iPhone I've come into contact with for reliability and stability. And the Note 1 was not very good!

All other Apple ecosystem elements except Macintosh are even worse than iPhone. I have owned or extensively supported: Every iPhone ever made except 7, AppleTV, watch, music, iCloud. Each one is a cutesy attempt at playing big boy but they spend SO MUCH TIME NOT WORKING.

By the way I am a mac user since 1999, a former shareholder, and a mac evangelist.

I say either find another visionary to run the company or close the damn thing down before it becomes any more of a mockery of it's former glory.

Throw the accountants into the street and put a builder in charge again.

*Ehem* AssistiveTouch. *Ehem* No you are right. The home button never breaks.

Developers aren't leaving iOS. The Google Hangouts app is better on iOS. Very odd don't you think?
Marketshare = good. More marketshare = more good.

Flirting with single-digit marketshare = flirting with TEOTWAWKI.

Don't believe me? Ask Blackberry.

What just happened? You started by admitting that you should have an iPhone, because it would make your life easier, then you claim the Note's are more reliable. Then you say you bought a Note 4 after admitting that the Note 1 wasn't very good. I kind of understand. I guess. You owned all music? What does that have to do with anything? What does being a shareholder have to do with everything?

You are not seeking to convert people to the mac with your words. This means you are not a mac evangelist.

T-Mobile says data speeds will double for some customers using the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ (VIDEO)

T-Mobile used today's unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ to announce that some subscribers upgrading to these new phones will be able to double their LTE data speeds on T-Mobile's network. With the faster speeds, a two-hour movie can be downloaded in just 15-seconds. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are the first handsets to take advantage of three technologies already built into the T-Mobile network.

These three technologies include 4 x 4 MIMO, which adds more connections between a cell tower and a Galaxy S8/S8+. Carrier aggregation increases the bandwidth and as a result, the bitrate is increased. Think of a busy highway with only two lanes open. Cars slow down. Once the third lane is open, traffic speeds up. And 256QAM increases the number of bits delivered per each transmission, which also increases data speed. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ will also be the first to use the unlicensed spectrum on the 5 GHz band known as LTE-U.

I really hope the new iPhones this fall use this technology also!

Not sure if i'm the only one bothered by this, but why on earth are the corners of the display rounded? will everything have letterboxing around it? or will it just cut off corners of things? this isn't the 70's. displays have hard corners for a reason....

Genuinely can't see what Apple are going to do that is better than this and I have been an iPhone user for many years. Definitely will be dipping my toes into this one

Apple already wins with software. Lets be honest, Apple is gonna reveal a beautiful device...And if the past is any indication, it's gonna be better built. Apple knows what's at stake here. if they miss even a little bit, it's gonna hurt bad. Apple has something bigger then big waiting for sept. You can bet the house on it.
