You are right about the battery, it will indeed require a new battery but they could built the headphones in such a way that the average consumer can replace the battery. I am not going to buy the AirPods or Beats as a matter of fact. There are 3rd party solutions that are cheaper and don't have wires. I also hate wires hanging around to be honest.

They could design the battery to be replaceable if they wanted, but if you look at teardown guides they go way out of their way to make it impossible to replace the battery without destroying the headphones. Of course those tiny airpods are always going to be difficult, but something the size of QC35's has plenty of room for a battery compartment. Instead it's full of glue and a whole lot of stuff in the way. On their customer service site, Bose also has a major campaign against anyone even bringing up the battery issue.

I'm a lot less familiar with beats, but I do know they don't want you being able to change the battery either.

Looks pretty good tbh. Reasonable price, great camera, and guaranteed security/os updates. Now that the operating systems have matured, I've started to like Android more than iOS. It doesn't aggressively close apps in the background, and I like how I can customise it and have proper notifications. Might pick this one up depending on what the next Pixel phone is like.

Edit** Plus it has a headphone jack and card reader! Sold.

I thought the same thing when the S7 debuted and now I have an iPhone again. The bloatware that always reinstalled itself was horrible, I didn’t get Android updates until months after official releases, and being stuck with SMS and MMS messaging was frustrating.

You also lose the versatility from not being able to use 3.5mm accessories like Square card reader, light meter, oscilloscope, multimeter, etc. The cons of removing it far outweigh any imaginary pro. It was removed to cut manufacturing cost of drilling, reduce component cost and make it cheaper to obtain water resistance.

Do you know anything about Square? For people still using the old, outdated reader you showed in your pic you can get a Lightning adapter.

But why would you when Square has a brand-new reader. One that accepts chip cards and also NFC (inc Apple Pay and Android Pay). It connects to your phone with Bluetooth LE. So Squares newest, most advanced and feature packed card solution doesn't use a 3.5mm jack, but is now wireless.

Multimeter, oscilloscope and light meter? I'd LOVE to see these amazing examples of technology tied to a useless 3.5mm jack with all its limitations.

Why do cameras keep being the focus of mobile phones? I hope software, battery life, and speaker quality is the focus of the 2018 iPhone.

I don't know how much better it can get honestly.

Check out this pic I took with my iPhone X this afternoon for an IG shot

I can understand why cameras are an important feature of mobile phones. But I can't understand how a different biometric authentication method is a major feature worth upgrading for. Whether it's your fingerprint or your face, both are simply ways to unlock your device. Is that a big deal? I'm not going to buy a new car based on the type of key I unlock and start it with. Smartphone innovation is stalling if these are the new features we're debating and differentiating devices by. I also hope that improvements and breakthroughs in software and battery life are at the forefront of the next iPhone.

Canadian pricing:

Pricing Unlocked pricing for the new flagship devices are as follows (available to pre-order now from Samsung Canada): Galaxy S9 — $960.00 CAD Galaxy S9+ — $1,100.00 CAD Carrier contract pricing: Galaxy S9 — $249.00 CAD Galaxy S9+ — $379.00CAD

Read more at MobileSyrup.com: Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ specs, pricing and Canadian availability

For corporations that consider going to Linux Desktop Distros ... and with capability to load a desktop distro directly via Dex partition on the Galaxy S8/S8+/Note8/9S9/S9+ this is a huge pricing and benefit for them. That along with KNOX.

Still for me this makes me annoyingly rethink if I should struggle through the Android pain yet again to switch from iOS later in the summer??

I'd like the iPhone 8 and X to drop in price to match for contract pricing though.

Bah who am I kidding no android!!

Does ripping other people for merely giving their opinion make you feel better about yourself? Just curious. I read the post you replied to, and all he said was his opinion.

Oh the irony. If I only had an AR Emoji to post right now. Lol

I like that front design, and the purple color. I hope Apple adds a copper and berry color to their lineup.

Atmos on a phone completely misses the point of Atmos. It’s akin to putting a new paint job on a 1986 Toyota Corolla. It’s wasted resources better spent elsewhere because the speakers have absolutely no way of doing it justice.

Why stop at the speakers? Why not use a set of high end wired headphones that can do it justice. There's also no audio lag with Bluetooth to deal with.

Sorry, but the glass looks downright terrible. Especially on the left side.

Phone cameras have come a long way. But this computerised background blur, which my old Sony Xperia Z3 had years ago already, still has long ways to go.

That's such an elegant phone. Ain't no crazy notch and huge protruding camera assembly going on.

Not gonna lie, if it worked with iMessage, or ran iOS I’d be all over the S9 / +. I’m just too invested in the ecosystem now.
It's really not that bad honestly. I've been an iPhone user for 9 years and that was one of my fears also but I got over it and I really enjoy the Note 8 and S8. It will take a little getting used to but it's really not that bad.
I am an interactive designer so I work on a Mac. The funny thing is I can charge my Mac and my Note 8 and my icon X 2018 with the same charger that came with my MacBook. You cannot do that with an iPhone.

Oh, I know. It’s just difficult with an iPad, iMac, MacBook Pro, Apple TV, HomePod, AirPods, and time capsule. I mean.. how do I ditch my X with all that other Apple stuff? I am firmly entrenched in the walled garden.

And for the life of me I can’t see why Apple stuck with lightning over usb-c on the 8/X.

Sell everything except your Macbook

good specs for the price. Live translation is a nice AR implementation. Apple should copy this instead of wasting time with stupid Animojes
