No, crazy comments would be from the people who routinely defend a company like Samsung or Google who has made their living copying other peoples products and never coming up with anything on their own.

Or Apple who blatantly copied Androids notification system and the WebOS card multi tasking system. Yeah we'll forget about what Apple has copied right?

All these companies copy each other, including Apple

Difference is Apple has really good marketing people who repeat "culture of innovation" over and over until people think it's a real thing

Samsung have blatantly heard the talk of Apple looking into health stuff and implemented it into the gear 2 and rushed it out before apple get the chance to release theirs,

Oh my God! Do you truly believe that? I mean seriously? Are you going to choose to totally ignore the YEARS that wearable health monitoring devices have been available, and accuse Samsung of copying an Apple rumour? You need to seriously read up on tech before posting stuff like this, because it just makes you look arrogant and not very knowledgeable of tech and that you are blatantly jumping on the hipster blame Samsung bandwagon.

Christ, I remember a Casio watch that could take your pulse back in the 80's!

The Samsung UK website's Galaxy Gear page shows just what is wrong with this seamless product:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/galaxy-gear/

The revolutionary Galaxy Gear connects with your
Note 3, Galaxy S4 or Galaxy S4 Mini seamlessly.*
When you’re wearing it you can make calls, check
messages, take photos and more.

The small print then says:
*System update required. Update will be made available by your network operator on dates to be confirmed by your network operator. Contact your network operator for full details.

In other words your at the mercy of your operator for this seamless experience

No doubt the new gear will also require updates to the phones which also will depend on the operator.

Why do non-Apple phones require the mobile operator to push the updates? I'm glad Apple were able to insist they were left in control of updating. It's an important advantage of an iPhone (+ iPhones are supported much longer in general).

This is one of the reasons I choose iPhone. I don't want carrier bloat ware, I don't want carriers dictating when my phone gets a software update and I don't want carrier logos on the front and/or back of my device.

I agree with some of the other posters in the forum, Samsung is running on Apple rumors now. They heard that Apple may be working on an "iWatch" and what do they do? They release a smart watch. They hear that Apple may build health monitoring features into the "iWatch" and what do they do? They release another watch, within 5 months, that has a heart monitor feature.

It seems clear that Apple is working on products that include medical functions, but it would be really funny if it is not a smart watch, and Apple was feeding rumors to the competition to get them to chase their tails as Apple is preparing to shake up the landscape once again. I sense that Apple is not only working on a single product such as a watch, but is working on a whole ecosystem that they will release, that centers around medical sensors and other features that their current products don't offer. This new ecosystem will connect to iCloud, and will tie it all together.

Apple is joining the rush and is making their own smart watch. It's another thing that shows that they've run out of ideas (for an obvious reason). For that reason, I've switched from AAPL to SPY. Also, look out for that down day for AAPL tomorrow.

A down day for AAPL tomorrow, after they were down on Thursday and Friday? Why, because MWC started and the media will be showing us a slew of "iPhone killers"? As if the media hasn't been talking about every new phone as an iPhone killer since basically 2007.

Yeah like when Google completely changed Android to look like iOS amazingly right after iOS was introduced?

Or when Samsung amazingly introduced something called the S5 with a fingerprint sensor right after Apple came out with the 5S?

Try to rationalize it all you want but Google and Samsung made their entire business based around copying other peoples work.

Right, I am going to call you up on this one, so what do YOU think has motivated ALL the other makers of smart watches then? Both now AND before, you do now you have been able to buy a smart watch long before ANY Apple rumour about them right?
So come on, did they time travel to read the Apple rumours than go back to their time to make a smart watch? And all the other makers launching smart watches, have they ALL copied Apple too, or is it just Samsung?

Because of the horribly stupid SSL bug that was introduced in 10.9. Bad publicity.

Also, two down days in a row don't really point to an up day on the third day, or else that would be easy money for an investor. That's like flipping a quarter a few times, getting heads every time, then saying that the chances of tails on the next flip is high.

Difference is Apple's products are good, so people buy them. They barely advertise.

Like the people that bought an iPad 3 and then an iPad 4 comes out a short time later with the specs that the 3 should have had initially? But since it was Apple nobody was upset? This happens all the time in many industries, especially fast paced ones like electronics.

A lot of people were upset about it. But it seems quite obvious that Samsung rushed this "smartwatch" to market so they could say they got there before Apple or Google did. Does anyone really think the 3rd gen iPad was released when it was because Apple was trying to beat a competitor to market?

Got any proof about Google copying iOS then? Or are you just flaimbating?

Samsung has had a health app on their smart phones for a while now. I have it on my Galaxy Note 3. I do not use it. I do not think many people use it. I do not believe many people will care about Apple version of this either.

My guess is people will because it will be a major feature of iOS 8 and will be given a lot of attention by Apple. It won't be one of a long list of features Apple just threw in to fill up a spec sheet. As Jony Ive said in a Bloomberg interview last year:

We never would, but we could just stack up feature after feature after feature that would make for a long list but would make for a completely un-useful phone. [Touch ID] was something that I think we all felt was a very useful feature, and we started with a desire to solve the problem. We didn’t start opportunistically with 10 bits of technology that we could try to find a use for to add to our features list.

I would actually state Apple advertises MORE then anyone else, plus it has it's giant Apple logo on the front of it's stores. On TV I definitely see more Apple ads then anyone else.

I dunno, last time I've seen an Apple ad on TV was 2 years ago.

It's called MACrumors for a reason!!! If I wanted all of this other crap I'd goto verge or engadget. Apparently Samsung and Google are also lining the pockets of Eric Slivka as well now.

I just don't understand why you all care so damn much. I want to know what the competition is up to so that I could tell Apple what it is that I would like to see them do. Even if it is "copying" since we all know they all do it anyway.

Outside of an Apple forum, I doubt many people think that Samsung is copying a non existent Apple watch.

Apple had a short release period between iPad 3-4 to provide a performance boost, it made the iPad a better product. Samsung has/will have released a minimum of 2 watches before/if Apple does. If you think this is copying, I disagree.

I saw one tonight while watching the Daytona 500.

iPhones (all four models currently in production) now have only 17% (or so) market share worldwide. Why would anyone even need to talk about iPhone killer anymore? There is not much to kill. Android and Samsung are the "things to kill" now.

Samsung spent $14 billion for marketing costs in 2013. Apple's budget was just north of $1 billion. I would state that it's pretty clear who advertises more.

Why would Samsung care about this? Do you think that iWatch will work with Android (or Windows) phones?

The two figures are not compatible. To Samsung it's not just marketing costs. They manufacture and promote a lot of products. This budget probably includes Samsung stands and mini-stores in BestBuy and other places. In case of Apple this would be a different budget category because they operate their own stores.
