I can't see how a display the is flexed over and over again isn't going to degrade. I could believe a two-screen phone with a precision hinge might work, but no one that bends the screen. I'll pass.

Flex ribbon cables inside laptops which is similar idea have been around for ages and are durable except maybe for Apple. They maintain a bend radius for longevity and don't fold like a sheet of paper.

We would still be at 4 inch iPhones if not for Samsung. People literally laughed at the Note being ridiculous in the past; and not all that long ago either.

Water-resistant phones too.

It goes both ways.

When Apple does under-display cameras in a few years too it will be #courage.
I think you got that backwards.
simce the OG iPhone Samsung has copied apple in terms of software and presentations.
icons software even slideshows in their yearly presentations.

SonyEricsson was THE first company to have water/dust resistance! There after others followed suit and that was since the Feature phone era over 15 yrs ago.

the demand for large screen phones didn’t happen at Apple because of Samsung it was a major trend in the Asian markets with Samsung and then up coming players like Huawei, Oppo, etc. Not Samsung.

I'm interested to see how the new Wear OS and hardware performs. Right now the Apple Watch doesn't really have solid competition.
Wearos failed already, that’s what happens when Google squeezed out the competition. This is Google’s second reboot with insight & expertise from Samsung doing the heavy lifting. I don’t see it progressing much.

I do agree they should have kept the pin hole for better quality on things like Zoom
Yep the under display camera was the wrong choice 😬👇

Basically all the early reviews have said it is noticeable if you look for it. But surely it is less noticeable than a punch hole, and far far less noticeable than a notch. I'd say it is a moderate improvement.

In all those reviews, it is clearly there when zoomed in on, but in most of the wide shots you don't see it, even when you are looking for it.
MKBHD said it’s very noticeable and photos come out looking like trash, for $2499 it should be perfect. 🤦‍♂️

Two years of field experience from users seems to show it holds up.

The iPhone is my primary phone, but I've always had a secondary Android phone because I like gadgets. So I'm trading in my Note 20 (a great phone) for the new Fold. I'll give it a try, see what all the excitement is about. It looks intriguing.

It is certainly "noticeable". As shown in that image, with the worst case screen color, at the worst angle, up close, it is about half as noticeable as a punch hole, and maybe 5% as noticeable as an iPhone notch. If "perfection" means completely unnoticeable while taking perfect pictures, I don't think there is a phone that comes closer. Surely this solution obscures the top couple rows of text less than a notch, which makes most of the top of the screen unusable.

You would not use this camera for photos. You'd use the main cameras with the front screen, meaning your selfie options are better, not worse, than your typical phone. This compromise improves the screen while reducing the video quality of video calls.

I do think that if you were to watch other MKHD videos, you'd find that he mentions that you can see punch-out holes and notches too. I will say that every compromise, from notch to under-screen needs to be evaluated at the individual level. If video calling on phones is an important part of your daily use, then this is not the right solution for you. I care more about content consumption, and only use my phone for video calling as an emergency back-up and maybe for an hour/year while traveling. A soft video from my end doesn't bother me for those limited applications.

Here are some more screen captures from MHKB's hands-on, where he isn't specifically trying to show you the camera. (for comparison, I've included an image from an MKHB iPhone 12 video. See if you can spot the notch.)

My Galaxy Buds+ from April/2020 are still very good with huge battery capacity. If I didn't already have the Buds+, I would buy the Buds 2.

That fold looks pretty awful… no sure what the draw is. Maybe in the future this tech will entice me but not at this time.

Seems like they're addressing a lot of the early issues with foldable displays, so good for them. Looks like an interesting device, but not $1,799 interesting. Prices need to come way down on these things before I consider one from any company.

The new Body Composition feature on the Watch4 is quite neat.

I'd like to see some numbers on its accuracy. Biofeedback based body composition measuring has always been erratic, but those devices don't take continuous measurements.

I'm curious how accurate biofeedback may be if readings could continue to be taken over time with algorithms applied.

The battery life of a Watch4 is said to be up to 40 hours. Consider me interested. I've been a FitBit user for years, but the day the Apple Watch is able to deliver close to 2 days of battery life, I'll seriously consider switching.

Any reports of phone screen cracking? lol
Can't have reports unless people are buying the product. Hardly anyone wants this nonsense. And for the "witty" comics who are saying that if Apple's name was on it people here would buy it....perhaps so because if Apple does it this technology will be done right. Samsung is enjoying the people testing this for them because the ones buying this right away just want to be first on the block to brag to their friends. That fold is so ugly only a diehard Samsung fan would try to pretend it's not noticeable.
