So don't claim "millions" in your rant then!!
You nor any of the other posts speak for millions so lets just say it as it is and it all gets silly and sulky.

I don't agree with the other post either but.. In the same way you say trash for SGSS5 (which i had to work out btw!!) I'm sure "millions" (see what i did there) will say the same about the iPhone on "their forum" and given they have a better market share (based on this topic) does that mean they are more right than the iPhone users? just spitballing here...

Pointless rants spring to mind If I'm to use your wee term.

It would be sad in your world if you fall under the impression that millions spend money on a product solely and exclusively due to marketing. Interesting group of lemmings around you. Marketing, by the way, that Sam{s}ung also uses in their advertising. Oh....but that doesn't apply?
Nope. The millions speak for themselves. And if we're going to denigrate millions for falling for Apple advertising so can we denigrate the millions who have bought the lackluster SGS5.

Please. And speaking strictly for myself and giving my personal opinion of my use of the SGS2, SGS3, SGS5, and Note 4, they are not worth going for the next one.

I don't care what bargain basement and free phones running Gingerbread are out there. Why do you? Considering we're in MacRumours and not XDA.....because see, I expect that rabid type of defence for Samsung over there on "their" forum. So your wee rant? Wrong neighbourhood, if we're going to discuss enthusiast sites and the posters there. Clearly, I'm not in the Sam{s}ung forum in absolute defence of their offerings.

So if we're going to follow the logic that millions buy solely on marketing, and given Sam{s}ung's dominance of the market, one would safely deduce that the millions who buy Galaxies and Notes are more prone to lemming like behaviour of buying solely due to advert pressures, therefore truthfully making themselves the sadder more naive less discerning lot.

"Interesting" way to ignore that most of that - as you say - crappy SAmsung hardware is found also in most apple products. In fact, Samsung is still the No.1 supplier for apple. apple often tried to get rid of Samsung - but the main problem of apple is that Samsung is still the Number ONE in high-Tech suppliers.

The "solder and glue" policy will break the neck of apple - not now, not immediately, but people are beginning to realize that they are changing their status from customers to prisoners/slaves.

But surely there will rest a lot of lemmings who will join Orwell´s hymn:"Freedom is slavery and slavery is freedom"
and "Facts are imaginations and Imaginations are facts".

It is always very amusing to read the twisted and "flexible" standpoint of ignoring "loyal apple crusaders" about the world leading competitor. Now, there are several competitors. Huawei and Samsung will enter the market withe the G7 and Mat S - this will be very hard for apple….

as for "crappy spare parts of basement services" : They use the same spare parts as apple does. But they don´t have to pay shiny temples - they just do their job. Often they do it better than apple´s "genius" do:"genius" mostly just say: "It´s broken, ail cost nearly the same as a new iPhone, so buy a new one".
These "basement" services just repair - and it works.

apple sells for example EXACTLY the SAME RAM and SSDs as you can buy everywhere in the internet from serious sellers. But apple charges double or three times the reasonable price charged by serious sellers.

The "solder and glue" policy will break the neck of apple - not now, not immediately, but people are beginning to realize that they are changing their status from customers to prisoners/slaves.

Oh dear lord what are you in about?!?

A prisoner / slave has no choice. I've got all the choice in the world and CHOOSE Apple's approach.

I don't ignore that I've got Apple components. I've got a Samsung chip. But components are only part of what a phone is. The overall implementation is what I find significant.

Competitors? The more the better! Competition is a good thing. I still won't get the Note 5 and unless I can change my own battery I won't buy the Note 6 because as I've experienced with all my Samsung phones each OS "upgrade" actually *degrades* the device to the point where I find it unusable. FB on my Note 4 is a laggy crashing steaming pile of bovine processed feed.

And where did I say anything about crappy spare parts of basement services? I spoke of third party repair centres run out of basements. Not the same point. Which is that I have no problem with Apple demanding authorised repairs through authorised centres. Otherwise there is some buyer getting repairs in the cheap and trying to pass it off as a faulty device. Our fees go up through the dodgy repair work because of increased in prices and Apple Care. Which is what I use. Authorised repairs through the warranty I get. Oh and I get extended warranties for my refrigerator and my washer and my dryer and my car and my laptop.....it's what I find responsible behaviour.

As far as the lemmings, it seems Sammy is getting more and more of them, in view of the article quoted. There are millions of them chanting as they go buy "the next big thing."

I was writing about lemmings in general way. Did I mention your name? NO, I didn´t . I quoted your posting just because it contains some elements of ignorance - in my personal opinion. You told me in an indirect way to leave thoiis forum.
I think this is not correct.

I am not defending Samsung as their fanboy. I have now several MBPs, a MacPro, iPad, iPad min, even 2 IPhones. You could hardly say I am a Samsung fanboy.
I just want to correct some distorted statements of "apple Loyalists" suffering from their rose-colored view through apple-spectacles….
I dislike every sort of brand-crusaders - even the ones that are "Loyalists" of brands from whom I purchased products. Progress starts with critical views on the existing situation/products. Only this way guides to continuous perfection, not praying at brands in temples…

Loyalism requires adherence to one thing. Hardly the case as I own all four major US platforms, wouldn't you say?
As far as telling you to leave the forum, unless you and AFEPPL are the same person, I was not speaking to you about forums and their posters.

If you intend your post to be general in nature, don't quote a poster. So it seems the ignorance as to the proper use of the quote functionality in the forum is not mine, wouldn't you say?

We do agree that progress starts with critical views. But it ends where broad brushes are used to paint an entire set of the market, as you did by claiming that Apple buyers buy their products simply due to marketing. In that, there is ignorance because it displays a lack of logic inasmuch as, as noted in this OP, Samsung surpassed Apple in sales, thereby making those who buy based simply on marketing more likely Samsung owners, given stats.

Oh and my prayers, although irrelevant in this thread, don't go to any company.

not sure, to be frank. somewhere it's gone to millions of apple users are lemmings because they buy only on marketing irrespective of the fact that samsung sales also market their products and their sales are rising which means that there must be many many more samsung variety lemmings than there are apple but that doesn't matter becase apple is eeeeeevehl......

Daughter and her husbands have i phones and when thwy send picture texts, they are lousy. Love my samsung s6.

Well it should be obvious that something is wrong because they shouldn't be "lousy" but since your on a superior Samsung phone I'm sure you have no intention of looking into what the problem might be.

Samsung is beating Apple in design and camera since last year it seems...

http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-iphone-7-plus-galaxy-s7-camera-comparison-2016-9

This thread didn't need to be bumped. If it needed to be, should be after an annual quarter with the iPhone 7 sales. Another four months to see if Apple has closed the gap or not. The only gap it closed at Samsung was at the camera but the iPhone 7 Plus still hasn't beaten a six-month old S7 in photography. The burning Note7 is actually better than the S7 and S7 edge in photos according to GSM Arena.

This whole "sales gap" thing is kinda silly since Samsung sells a full line of phones ranging from as low as $150 all the way up to $1,000. And they have an average price around $250.

Meanwhile... Apple's phones start at $400 but actually average closer to $600.

Gosh... is it any shock that Samsung sells more units?

If we're gonna compare unit sales... let's make sure the units are somewhat similar.

Did it occur to anyone that Samsung sells tens of millions of phones at $200... while Apple sells ZERO phones at that same price?

What exactly is the comparison anyway?

The link you posted:

http://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/blue-light-has-a-dark-side

This scientific orientated part of the article you link edmentions NOT ONE SINGLE TIME electronic equipment, but talks about "Light bulbs" and ambient light from LEDs. It is about ambient light.

EVERY user here should read this link and make his own conclusion if this is about "electronic equipment" or about ambient light.

Only at the end there are some recommendations - but WITHOUT Scientific facts. This is just a extrapolation of facts about AMBIENT LIGHT, NOT the result of studies concerning electronic equipment. The last sentence safe nothing but SPECULATIONS, and NOT scientific results at all.

Neverthgeless, these bizarre recommendations are more about other things (Light intensity of Screens which will to change under "Nightshift" app in comparison to other light) and wearing blue light- absorbing glasses (super!) or work completely under red light.

It is NOT about the color of phone screens.

Even if you Follow these recommendations and even if these were relevant, you might even fall asleep at work. Or on your way home in your car. You cannot work at night in top-condition and get sleepy at the main time. Do you understand this?

These recommendations are vastly overrating the results of studies about AMBIENT LIGHT and transferring these results in an inappropriate manner.

Even if you would admit that staring the whole night at a bright screen don´t get you tired enough to fall asleep (surprise, surprise!) - this proves nothing about using a Phone.

Looks like Samsung jumped on the "Nightshift" gimmick bandwagon. This is from my Note 7 that is a ticking time bomb. I'm just waiting for Samsung to email me the FedEx shipping label to be sent so I can get a refund.
