Yeah, Samsung copies, and it's a pity that, after months (years?) of rumours about Apple AirTags, Samsung was quicker developing their own technology, although Tile was the first in this market I guess.

However, I like them. I just like this product, the design, the functionality, and the price is awesome. At this price I can afford having 3, 4 or even 5. If this Samsung SmartTags are fully 100% compatible with Apple Find My, and don't present any threat to my privacy (they don't send any info through the internet), then I'll be buying some, for sure.

"Samsung told The Verge that the SmartTags are only designed to work with Samsung Galaxy devices and are not compatible with other Android phones or iPhones". Samsung's walled garden?
Ok then, no Smart Tags for me.

Nice! I will definitely be getting some of these, been waiting years for Apple to come out with their tile competitor. It will be interesting to see if Apple actually ever copies Samsung and releases a version of these things themselves. Apples snail pace costs them again.

yah, I know if they could only ever release a product customers wanted, then they would be successful. too many fails, they should be bankrupt soon.

Seriously though, I do wonder why they have not released their rumored product yet. Probably making sure it will actually work and be useful and it sounds more like the higher end, unreleased next gen product that Samsung did not release yet, as opposed to the one they did. So Samsung 0, Apple 0 on that one.

oh, and btw, you did read that the Samsung tiles only work with Samsung?

It'll be interested to see what AirTags look like and their price point.

I'd prefer all of these trackers work together so that the network is even larger, for now I prefer find my

That's a shame.
If Apple wants to force customers to use their products on their phones, then fair enough.
But for Samsung not to make their product work on all Android devices, that's a shame and seems silly.

Perhaps the problem is, you need to be sure the correct tech is in the phone to work with the new product, so I can understand that.
And if that is the case then they should allow other brands to incorporate what's needed.

Whilst I don't have a "Tile" product, this is why I love independent brands, so that everyone, no matter what can use the same items.

Hard to understand how it could possibly take Apple so long to bring such a simple and straightforward device (relative to other tech products) to market. On the other hand, I don't personally have a use case for tags. Now, a *freaking* Apple backlit desktop keyboard, that would be something! Yes, Apple, believe it or not, many people use their desktop Macs at night.

Anyone care to guess that some/many cases you will need to put airtags in will cost as much as the actual Samsung tag itself ;)

The author of the above (main article) obviously doesn't follow Apple very closely...

"...will want to price the AirTag competitively..." ???

Apple doesn't price their products competitively in any way shape or form any more.

For all we know, they may cost $100 each because that's what Apple thinks we should pay.

Other than that... What's this about AirTag going to use other people's devices to locate an item?? Is that going to infringe on my privacy, and battery power?

That could definitely impact sales, in my opinion.

I will continue to wait for AirTags. Hopefully, they will be offered at a reasonable price.

But AirTags will definitely only work with Apple devices.
