I Hope the news for this Samsung S6 bending gets put out massively by the media the way they did it with the iPhone 6 Plus. Sammy enjoyed watching Apple take crap over this. Samsung deserves it too, especially since they lied right in their keynote saying their phone won't bend.

Okay, to be fair to Samsung, first, this is the S6 edge which has significantly less chassis support than the S6 or the iPhone 6 Plus. Second, the S6 Edge didn't remain bent after 110 lbs of force unlike the 6Plus which was still bent. It did crack the glass, though, but that was more because of the fact that the glass wrapped around and was under greater pressure. Would like to see the test for the standard Galaxy S6.

Full disclosure-- iPhone 6, imac, rmbp, ipad owner. Not Samsung fanboy. Just a fair guy.

But but... that's not what they said during the keynote.

"In official hands-on videos of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge released by Samsung, the company noted that the smartphones are constructed with a metal casing that is made out of aluminum 1603, the same material that is used in manufacturing airplanes.

"Basically, this stuff will not bend," the video said, poking fun at the infamous "Bendgate" that was triggered by iPhone 6 Plus smartphones apparently bending if kept in a user's pocket for too long while sitting."

Well yeah, it's basically an iPhone clone.

Would love to see the Samsung fanboys reaction to this and the fact that their beloved phone can't switch out the battery or use sd slots anymore. They always loved to gloat about that.

Honestly, I went to a Samsung fansite and people were livid about the battery.

I saw an article a few weeks that said that Samsung was "racing" to develop bendable phones.

It looks like they have achieved their goal.

I actually have to say I'm rather impressed considering the absolute minimal amount of available structure in that phone. The front and back are glass and the front portion wraps around the sides a good bit. So for it to withstand what it did that's not honestly a fail to me. I may get one to compare next to my iP 6

More spin than a centrifuge?

lol.... opps

That's some bending...

Users really care anymore about "i'm not going to buy a phone that bends this easily" ? If so, how much sleep have a had recently.

Ouch.

Where are all the Samsung fans from September? I'd like to see what they make of this.

I'm not a fan of anyone, though I feel for the test to be comparative, they should of used the Galaxy 6 and not the 6 Edge.

The Galaxy 6, the iPhone 6, and the HTC all have somewhat similar construction, with full metal sides, so the test would show some valid results.

Having 2 phones with full metal sides (iPhone and HTC) and then from Samsung used the Edge model with Glass wrapped around the edge, and then saying OMG the curved glass around the sides broke is a bit obvious and silly.

Happy for them to run this test, but at least use products that have similar construction, especially when there is the normal Galaxy 6 which would have resulted in a more worthwhile result for buyers.

Makes me wonder if the glass from the s6 will be prone to cracking in your back pocket.

Silence

Several media websites (I'm looking at you 'The Verge') plastered the iPhone 6 video all over their main page last year

Still not a peep from them this time, I suspect they'll be quiet for a while

It's all about the revenue
Apple issue ... lots of clicks
Samsung issues .. almost none

Came here for the comments, was not at all disappointed.

Some of you in here seem really desperate to compare yourselves to anything and everything Samsung is doing. Samsung seems to have more influence over people's behavior and mindset than some of you would be comfortable admitting.

silliness. don't buy paper thin tech if you're obese and wear tight pants.. aintathang.

I can't wait to hear what the Samsung fanboys are going to say about this.

Samsung fanboy here (I also own an iPad). It will die just as quickly as it did with the iPhone 6 plus. I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter the phone it will bend. It’s exactly the reason why I have a heavy duty case on my iPad Air 2. If I fall asleep while using the iPad I will roll over it and bend it. Devices bend so I always use heavy duty cases.
But I am impressed with the drop test of the S6 Edge. I’ve seen 3 drop videos with one lady slamming that thing multiple times. The only phone I’m truly impressed with when it comes to bending would be the Moto X 2014; that thing is a tank.

So they make fun of Apple for their bendy iPhone as a PR attempt to preserve profits on their older models. Then they try to make a similarly thin and beautiful phone and it bends even worse than the iPhone. Brilliant.

Next up... wall hugging as these phones don't have a removable battery anymore.

meh. it's kind of a chicken or the egg thing, but i think it's fairly established - based on the crux of both camps' 'issues'...

apple fans are obsessed with android fans' obsession with apple. i'm 99% certain the rift wouldn't exist without android fans' insistence not that apple stuff isn't 'as good', but that choosing apple is an 'error of judgement'... they don't have a leg to stand on regarding quality or usage because 9 out of 10 of them have never used apple products for more than an hour, if that. but the idea that EVERYONE who picks apple is an idiot who drools at the sight of sparkley things, and spouting almost pure nonsense, irrational logic, and disproven baseless factoids at the drop of a hat seems to be the fandroid thread-wanderer's MO. apple fanboys do exist as the hand to their yin, but i'm guessing the age cutoff for that is around high-school. i run into physical people over the age of 40 who tout their Galaxy like a 13yo with their first Xbox. strange behavior for professionals. i've barely ever even discussed phones with apple users, it's like phones are supposed to not even be a hot topic - they're supposed to just exist and work.

far and away, as someone fairly intrigued by the phenomenon, i've noticed most android threads devoid of apple fans; there to only provoke. not always, but most of the time. the same cannot be said about apple threads. ever.

if you want to falsely equate the two camps on an article specifically about samsung where people are discussing them, fine. that's your contextual worldview, almost confirmation bias. but there's more at play than merely 'mine's better than yours because i own it.' android folks tend to really set the bar low for actual brand discussion.
