LOL.

Just because they're first to market doesn't mean they came up with it first.

Apple already know what the iPhone 8 will entail and have done for years. They're already prototyping iPhone 9 and 10.

Apple won this race. With their hands tied behind their backs.
Yep, sure. That's why the iPhone 7 has the same look as their three year old iPhone 6. That's why they're losing market share rapidly and will be the last phonemaker on the market with an Amoled screen. When their world wide share will dip below the double digits I'm wondering if developers will release or develop for iPhone first. Or release software for the iPhone at all. Apple is famous in bragging about how many customers are updating to the latest iOS compared to android. Compared to devices sold running the latest version android of android and iOS that chart looks completely different in favor of android. Every month it will get harder for Apple.

I don't know where Apple is focusing on the last 4 years. Everyone says Apple is focusing on mobile first and I could agree with that if their mobile devices were cutting edge.

I would agree that they have lost focus but I would say the devil is in the details. I don't think anyone is "cutting edge", hence the entire market is "starved for innovation". It's not just Apple. The products are mature and improvements are incremental.
The iPhone is still a fine product and no doubt will get better but I'm not expecting anything "cutting edge". I don't expect Samsung, Google, the other Android vendors or Microsoft will do anything "cutting edge" with phones either.
The MacBook and MacBook Pro are beautiful designs. They are both overpriced but are sleek devices. I think a lot of their competitors look like cheap, bargain bin products. Microsoft is not innovating with touch screen desktops and laptops. Anyone could do that. I don't want a touchscreen Mac and I don't care about a convertible product either.
I wish the refresh cycle were shorter for Macs. I would like for the cloud service to perform better.

LOL, years of prototyping and yet the iPhone 7 is the same design as the iPhone 6.

Not a Samsung fan by any means, but I think they already had that curved screen design before Apple with their Edge series, right?

BAM!

Well they did remove the headphone jack that took some work. Engineers got to be thinking this is a cake walk, same design year after year, man what a job.

This is too funny, I'm loving this.

Because the outside of a phone means everything...

Of course devs will continue to create apps for iOS first. They're still doing it and will continue to do so. Why would you want to create apps for Android only? Need to be pretty desperate.

I like bezels. We have to hold the phone and don't want to touch the screen. My leather cases lip over the screen anyway. The only way bezel-less screens will be cool is if the wrap around part doesn't display apps or photos and isn't touch sensitive. I do expect Apple to beat Sammy in execution. Putting touchscreen volume controls on the side or having text and images warp off the side of the screen is gimicky.
Blah! I have a Nexus 6 in addition to my iPhone 6 Plus, and the Nexus 6 has some of the thinness bezels available. No issues holding that phone whatsoever. And I have BIG hands.

Just like everyone releases on the Amiga and Sega first? Time in the tech spotlight is brief...

But IOS 10 isn't buggy, your experience don't appear to be the norm. Lag is the one problem I have with android. The performance for me simply isn't as good which is a damn shame as it's damn near perfect apart from these issues in terms of the product.

Yes it is, stop denying it. I suppose the Bluetooth bugs with car infotainment systems reported on this site was a myth? Let alone the mess it is when using this website in my iPad Pro.

WOT? These two consoles are ancient. Apple are still in the driving seat and will be for a long time. Get over it.

Unless you're 15 - in which case it's fine, you have zero life experience - you're being pretty daft about how tech leaders constantly peak and churn.

Apple peaked around 2012. It'll be an also-ran in 5 years. All this has happened before and will happen again.

This isn't a controversial view.

K den m9. I'm not wasting any more time with you. It won't get into your thick head.

Form over substance. The future is now.

Why would I lie? If I had issues I would state it

Bluetooth bugs? Mine is fine in my car not sure why it would be an issue

Only issue I've had has been the phone randomly switching off then coming straight back on but it seems to not do that anymore. So maybe thats one bug fix thats been sorted

Because there is so much more news coming out of other companies than Apple these days. If it was only about Apple you could check this site once a year to know everything about Apple.
Hence my suggestion that MacRumors should change it's name.

Urgh. You can see the difference. You can't see the individual pixels at normal viewing distance, but it's not about being able to see the individual pixels. The overall image looks better on a higher res display at the same distance regardless of whether you can see the pixels or not.

Even Apple admitted this when they went to "Retina HD"

That is why the 4.7 could go 1704x960 iPhone 5 dev res of 556x320@3 or even 2001x1125 iPhone 6/7 dev res 667x375@3.

The 7s plus could be 2208x1242 since that is the current internal res of the 6/6s and 7 plus before being scaled back to 1920x1080.

Both could be made possible by using a more battery efficient 10nm soc instead of a 16nm the 7 uses now.

The 7s pro ?? At 5.2 inch could be 2560x1440 or even higher , with the use of a more energy efficient oled and soc.

Samsung's burning desire to beat Apple to the punch...
This is getting ridiculous coming a day after the rumor saying there's not going to a redesign for the 7s.

So this new rumor is more ridiculous than the one yesterday.

omg so this means that all phones will feature onscreen buttons? I really hate them and dont like them the way they are used right now.
S7 and S7 edge bezels are as slim as it gets, look at the pixel - thats NOT the way to go!

Don't worry, when Apple does them next year you will love them!

I did effectively give a nod to that at the end of my post. But it will become irrelevant when Apple bins the Mac anyway, so now is as good a time as any.

You did give a nod, yet the bloke/lass just ignored it to fit their own narrative. Why do people do that?

BUT...

Bin the Mac!?!?

In the next 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? 100 years?
That's like betting on every single horse in a race and boasting you got a winner! haha.

They just released a brand new Laptop with new tech and a new way of using it.
Apple execs have stated that the iMac and MBP are definitely on the roadmap.
MAC PRO and MINI... now that's another story.
My prediction: Until speech recognition, nano tech and bendable tech is perfected, the Mac ain't going anywhere.

So the next Sammy fone ain't gonna have a headphone jack! haha. Would Samsung have done that if Apple didn't?

This year's Apple line up is all over the place, but a year of pain will give us a fantastic line up next year.
New era for the iphone, rMBP 2nd gen will be great, new BT in all products, New iMac, USBC will be far more popular, New iPads, 2nd gen airpods and hopefully an apple watch that is able to function on its own (but I think that might come in rev 4)... it's going to be a massive year for sure.
