I've made a whopping 1 animoji since getting my iPhone X on launch day... useless gimmick feature in my opinion. Shame that Apple probably spent so many resources and manpower on it, when they could have been working on something more useful.

Did I wake up in some dystopian future? This is the point of spending $1,000 on a phone and paying $200/month ($2,400/year) for stupid cartoon faces? Yikes! Is there any tech out there that does something useful anymore?
Yep, that's the only thing you paid with your $1000. You're not really paying your shiny new phone with best hardware and software that they can come off atm. You're awesome!

Just like they didn't invent fingerprint scanners, mobile payment systems, etc. It just happens when Apple decide to add it to iPhone, Samsung also thinks it's good to add it to the next Galaxy. Uncanny!

Yes, but, this article and probably in the other articles about the fingerprint scanner, mobile payment system, etc, is/was that Samsung is "Copying Apple", in a since that "APPLE" created it and all Samsung or anyone else is doing is copying. I am just wondering, what product has apple released that they truly created, truly invented, that is changing the industry in recent years? Everything they do as well, is a copy from already existing technology. I will agree, they make it better, from the aspect of putting it on a phone or in a watch, etc. Waiting for the innovation to return to Apple. I like their products, I use their products, just waiting for the innovation to show up that has been missing for a while now.

I give praise to Samsung for not removing the 3.5mm headphone jack but this has got to be up there in terms of stupidity.

I feel like I'm crazy; I just really don't get this emoji\animoji bit. It must be big in Asian\Teen markets.

Apple didn't create it, but there's no denying Apple has made it popular in mobile. Pretty sure other OEM's are going to have some form of facial capture. Google will probably add it to base Android. Samsung as always, will just have their own interpretation of it.

Not sure how popular it is really? I see the fancy commercials, and they are pretty cool. Apple was the first on the block with it in it's phone (iPhone X only, right?). I will give you that. I don't have a iPhone x (still rocking my iP7+), so can't tell you what experience I have with it and I can't say what the other OEM's are going to do, but I am sure it will work just as good as what apple is doing.

ps. I always like reading your comments, you have some good insight on things. <- Yes, I am sucking up...lol

Is the threat of being sued really a deterrent for Samsung?
Hasn't for Apple. Settle & quietly sweep under the carpet. Both companies are quite similiar... & sketchy.

U mean like the Samsung AMOLED displays now being used on iPhone X?

Copy & Paste took 2 or 3 years before being implemented by Apple. Face ID, no physical home button... the list goes on & on.

U mean the AMOLED displays Apple paid Samsung $2.59 billion to use?

Apple didn't create the technology for facial recognition, they paid for that too. What Apple did , was applied it to emoji's, now called Animoji. This technology also, already exists in the MOVIE industry, did Apple pay for that, maybe, probably, who knows.

According to article, samsung animoji will be better than iPhone, could that really be possible? Since iPhone has 3d mapping...

Apple hypes up Animoji on 2 or 3 iOS releases now. Now Samsung is looking to follow suit. Looks like the cell phone industry has officially jumped the shark.

Considering Honor is already doing this with their V10, not surprised. The V10 is much cheaper than Samsung or Apple.

I do hope we see more cheaper phones available on all carriers which feature state-of-the-art tech and better OS.
Does the Honor run iOS? Will consider it if it does.
