A VR product or game console? Pretty sure controllers are traditional for a game console of any variety.

Spatial FaceTime, among other many features, begs to differ. But not surprised you don't know about that considering you've spent very little time looking at Apple's spatial computer :)
Sure. That's why the AVP has been a roaring success, especially as a business device with literally thousands of products sold globally.

What is the market, then? Apple is not interested in game consoles, and if you've ever used one of these, then direct hand manipulation > clunky controllers.

Uh.... no. That was a complete failure lol

As opposed to Apple, who has an App Store of 2 million apps and millions of developers? How is Niantic in any way relevant here?

If anything, killedbygoogle.com would prove you wrong.

News to Apple, given they literally got 10% of the market lol, and just release a second gen. Is it possible your opinion is clouding your vision?

You just said this, but it's no more true than 3 sentences prior :)

No one cares about spatial computing. They don't care about spatial videos or photos, or the AVP.

I personally don't think that this headset is going to be a roaring success either, because no one cares about spatial computing. But I think that Samsung has thought about it a little more to have controllers available from day 1, and Google has an incentive to develop for their own platform - including using Niantic, the company that made the most successful AR (spatial) game in the world.

Which literally everyone is copying now. I doubt we see a device shipping without a base pinching interaction mode when, before Apple, they weren’t.

Meta had already developed the magic wristband (or whatever they're calling it now), which is a much more advance input device and works with their glasses. You don't need to pinch, you can literally just write with an imaginary pen and it will know what you're trying to write.

Refresh rate is low. Thought it will be much costlier. Hopefully Samsung will make it available in more countries soon.

Valve Index is a VR gaming console.
The thing is, one of the reasons I haven't purchased a Vision Pro is that it lacks some of the non-game apps that I can use on my Index, such as Google Earth, TiltBrush/OpenBrush, and SculptrVR (though the developer of the latter was hired by Apple to work on the Vision Pro). And there aren't good alternatives, from what I've seen.

I can't make claims for you and what's good and useful. But I can say that Apple provides apps and experiences that only they provide, both app wise and UX UI wise.

No this doesn’t look like an APPLE VP @ all zZzzzzZZzZzzzzzz

BTW samsung with the notch joke commercial yrs back against Apple, they only WISH they had icon lines anywhere near the notch or Dynamic Island. Wish…

Notch is so epic and somehow Dynamic Island made it even more epic. Apple truly is the truth smh….
Samsung had the gear VR out way before the AVP…

Lower Price + Controllers + Google Play Pass. It seems like this is designed from the outset to appeal to casual VR gamers, which is a much more natural fit for a VR product. The AVP was really just a monitor designed for passive media consumption, which other screens already do better, but being sold as a productivity device - which it definitely isn't. It will be interesting to see how this sells.

I’m not sure casual gamers are dropping this amount of money on something.
Someone who has $1800 to drop on a VR headset probably has enough to buy a AVP so I’m not really sure who this is for.

They need to bring down the price or make a cheaper version before the general public will get on board. I’m not saying that the device isn’t good and that for some people it is worth the price but for the majority it’s too expensive especially when most would not know what to do with it yet.

Quite a few technical improvements over AVP. Not surprising though. Their android phones tend to be better than iPhones on a pure technical level (especially their ultra line) . Im genuinely surprised Samsung bothered though. Everyone knows sales of the AVP are a flop. This will be the same.

They know what to do with it, but it is expensive. However, it's actually way cheaper compared to comparable products that offer high end displays (Samsung's are not, 72 Hertz for example). Worth it though if you can afford it!

Are the technical improvements in the room with us now? 72 hertz is a massive downgrade. Among many other issues

Its a headset that sits on your face. What do you think it would look like. They all look the same , and you know.. that's ok.

Please tell me you're joking. It's literally a really bad attempt at a rip off

I could post more!

Also this is what it looked like before Apple's release
