Screen size makes this an automatic nonstarter. Doesn't matter what else it has or doesn't have.

You should look at what other people who actually own larger screen devices say about them. Many of them are ex-iPhone users.

Dismissing something out of hand because it didn't come from Apple is pretty ridiculous.

It actually a good phone but woman won't buy it, it's just too big. My wife loves her iPhone one of the reasons being its size. Fits her hand and pocket.

OLED is potentially better. They are great when PenTile technology is not used (sub-pixels shared across pixels). If they have blue screens, it is down to the colour calibration, not the technology.

Yeah i know... thats why i don't like it xD

Samsung's New Galaxy S III Phone

A lot of dumb phones had a form of voice commands but the iPhone had voice control a while back before Android had voice commands.

The issue here is that S Voice is a copy as far as the look and feel goes.

SpeakToIt has been around a while.
Now if you are talking built in, you are correct.

I'm an Apple fan. I own Apple stock but there are two reasons why up until now I have resisted the iPhone and iPad.

iPhone screen is too small, I have big hands and I have found that a 4.3" screen, if there are dedicated buttons, or a 4.5" screen with no dedicated buttons, are ideal. I own a Motorola Razr and I couldn't be happier. If Apple makes an iPhone with a 4" screen, only then will I even consider a switch.

I recently got an iPad but would still love if the iPad came in a 7-7.5" model.
It fits better in my backpack.

The only thing I have to add to this wild discussion, is has any considered what monster this thing will be on BATTERY? The giant screen, and the fact it's "constantly aware" of you will be absolute killers for battery life. As is the case with every Android device, it has nice features and hardware specs, but the overall presentation consistently falls short. I think the greatest evidence of weakness in the Android platform is that user's seem to consistently be dying to upgrade to the newest, hottest device. iOS purchasers have a longer period of satisfaction with their purchase I feel. Yes, there are plenty of folks who purchase every new Apple device. At least those folks have a reliable release cycle they can anticipate.

It's an Android phone...i don't think anyone is expecting it to have good battery life....

I for one have been a fan of Apple for many years. However I welcome this type of competition. Gives consumers more choice than the whole "Apple or nothing" way.

It looks rather impressive. Samsung have introduced what looks to be an excellent competitor to the iPhone. I am very much looking forward to seeing this face to face.

Good on Samsung I say! Hopefully this makes Apple bring something out just as or even more spectacular.

HAHAHA. Saturated and less sharp. Oh great.

Guess which side is the Pentile:

Guess what, this picture is made with a microscope. All screens look bad at this magnification but it has nothing to do with how the human eye sees them. The indisputable fact is OLED provides infinitely higher contrast ratio than any LCD panel.

the battery is alot bigger than the iphone one. Plus its not like the 4S has "amazing" battery life. Actually ive given up to expect any reasonable battery life from a smartphone. Charging my 4S every night before bed has become kind of a habit by now

you're acting as if contrast ratio is the end all, be all of displays. Look at the Droid bionic, that thing is pentile and looks horrible, and you don't need a microscope to see that.

I was actually looking forward to something good coming from Samsung today. I'm not that satisfied but maybe my expectations were too high. Competition is a good and I'm happy to see Samsung trying to bring more to the table.

I don't see why people are complaining about the screen size. I hate how small the iPhone's screen is, especially when viewing wide screen content. I was able to finally see a Galaxy Nexus the other day which I thought had too big of a screen but it looked perfect to me . It'll be funny what the fanboys who are poking fun Samsung's choice in screen size will say when Apple decides to eventually adopt a larger screen.

As if iPhone had the best battery life. Here are comparison charts from anandtech.com

I am not. The effect of pentile matrix disappears with increase in pixel density.

Droid Bionic: 540 x 960 pixels, 256 ppi
Galaxy SIII: 720x1280 pixels, 306 ppi

Here is what theverge.com said in their review about Galaxy Nexus screen (which is very similar): "While the screen is a pentile display, the crispness of text and images was far superior to most lower resolution pentile displays I've seen."

You know one thing I never liked about Android Phone is how the User Interface seems to be different on every other phone.. I prefer a consistent UI, I'm all for customizing however I think by default the experience should be the same on all Android devices..

It is so frustrating nobody can make a product that can match Apple products in terms of simplicity of design. iPhone was launched 5 years ago and yet everyone else's phones look so ugly. What are these people doing with their hands at work? Why can't they make a phone that is better than iPhone in terms of design, if not software? If so we won't have to pay as much for Apple stuff now ;)
Have you seen the Nokia Lumia?

Just as good as an Apple design IMO, a beautiful phone.
