I set up an s10 for a family member two days ago. I was really impressed with the hardware, speed, fluidity... then I decided to fire up some apps to compare with the iOS equivalents.

That's where it all fell apart. Apps are still amateur hour, all over the show regarding the UI, and generally look like school project versions of iOS equivalents.

For as long as this is the case, Android phones will simply not be an option for me, no matter how many advantages the hardware itself may have over the iPhone.

For a story comparing the new Samsung S10 to the Apple XS Max, there are three references comparing the S10 to what’s rumoured to be included in the NEXT iPhone... yet some will insist that Samsung copy Apple???

Why should Samsung do that? Look at the Android forum and many S9 users are upgrading to the S10, so that means the average Galaxy S users only keep their phone for a year, two years max. Meanwhile they keep willingly pay ~$1k in a yearly basis. Next year, people will be buying the S11 anyway, so the update issue is a non-issue.

Yeah the new Galaxy S10s is quite compelling and the response to Samsung's new flagships has been quite positive.
Looks like it will be a good year for Samsung.

HAHAHHA. iOS 12 is running on almost every iOS device Apple sold on the last FOUR YEARS. You cannot in any shape or form compare both platforms.
Why isn't the subject the Galaxy S10?

Also “Major” updates isn’t the problem, it is the tens of small critical bug fixes that are released in the year after.
The S10 also will get monthly bug fixes and security updates.

Really weird articles that don't prove anything.
Especially the first one, it's like he doesn't know how to use the fingering and complains about petty things just so he could turn it into a full article.
Is this the S10 version of the "You are holding it wrong" saga?

The whole article is talking about not knowing where to place your finger as there is no physical indent like on the back of the S9. However there are a bunch of videos and reviews saying the s10 fps works incredibly well. Mine gets delivered on the 6th so I will make the judgement once I use it myself.

Great phone for people who prefer Android. I don’t see why we continue to argue back and forth about a preference. Most people aren’t switching and like what they like, so why bother arguing over it? Any differences in hardware are minimal either way, so just use what you like.

That's about the size of it. Then you have people like me who have an iPad and Mac and PC and Galaxy and muddle through! I use a bluetooth mouse and splitscreen mode on the phone all the time for Excel and calendar so that is my main use case.

In the UK most of my friends use WhatsApp so the "not having iMessage thing" isn't an issue.

It's good having Apple Music on Android though. Now that it finally works snoothly.

Lol, typical Murican myopia. Available since Wednesday here.

its 10 times more beautiful than the iphone. Wish it had a software similar to ios and i would buy it in a sec.

Dan is annoying.

A very dishonest comparison, Samsung Touch ID is super fast. There are videos out there. And the hole punch way less intrusive as this disgusting notch in the middle. Why would anyone place a camera in the middle, anyways. And the right corner is still touch sensitive, what he also got wrong

Is he a member of the press, approved blogger or time traveller?

That's very impressive considering the phone doesn't come out to the public until March the 8th and current s10s have prerelease software on.

Just a thought.

Android? Nope. No thanks. I like software that works. Android is still a mess and a security risk. Less than no interest.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't it been the iCloud that has been hacked numerous times? Why exactly is it that Apple can't seem to sell their new devices? Perhaps because they aren't adding anything of significance and the software is the same boring unusable interface that it has been for years? If you are ok with playing catch up every year, keep paying for the overpriced paperweights.

How would You know, your last words made me extra suspicious

I thought the XI was going to be an incremental update which still included the notch?

I can't wait for the apple presentation

"and you can charge other devices wirelessly RIGHT FROM THE iPhone!"

*standing ovation, whoops, hollering*

Can't innovate my ass....

my pre order iPhone XS, no freebies (Apple and giving away any freebies?? lol) or any discounts available: €1159

my pre order S10 with several freebies (allready sold my Samsung Buds) and a discount: €620

Thats a difference of more than € 500 (!!) for both being a highend Samsung/Apple flagship smartphone during pre order time, both bought unlocked.

Oh, you want a fast charger for your iPhone, than the price difference is getting close to € 600.

nuff said.

Nope, just saying that the fingerprint sensor is not accurate with dry fingers because you don't properly press on it(or miss it completely) really doesn't make sense.
The ultrasonic sensor was already demoed by many people in live videos and it works flawlessly. The guy on pcmag must be smoking something really strong.

I really don’t get how people say that the swipe up slows down FaceID. It’s literally 1 step to unlock your phone.

I can unlock my Samsung before I even have it out of my pocket. You have only one option which is to look at your phone. That's significantly slower.

Android phones are just as expensive, that’s the point. There is really no Apple premium in flagships anymore either.

Whatever premium is there, is worth it for iOS.
They are not just as expensive as iPhone. Here in Europe I can preorder S10+ for about 900 EUR, while the cheapest XS max 1.400 EUR.

nice, it looks like a credit card is sticking out of the back of your phone.

Not when it is in a case, which any smart phone user has, regardless of the brand.

Is there anything killer with these new Samsung phones? What’s the flagship feature?

Best camera on the market, great processor, inbedded fingerprint reader, maintaining convenient features rather than eliminating them for no apparent reason like the iPhone, no giant notch right in the middle of the screen, reverse charging, dual biometric authentication if desired by the user, (although not new for Samsung, still ahead of the pack in that regard).... Shall I continue?

I don't know, on the Samsung US page I can only preorder the phone and the shipping date in March 22.
On Verizon AT&T and T-Mobile you can also just preorder and the delivery will be in 1-2 weeks from now.

On another note there are so many wallpapers appearing for the camera cutout. These are genius :D

Yeah the only problem is: Too much white.
But thta's fixable, the idea itself is really cool.
