Ha yes I’m aware. I was a Nexus user. Had a Pixel 2.

They are trying to be the iPhone of Android, but missing two key pieces of the puzzle.

Their hardware quality is nowhere near as good.

And their software updates are crazy buggy. Never had an iOS update cause me to have to factory reset my phone. Happened on Android.

I just don’t trust Google. Samsung has the power to make Google at least give them consistent releases of Android, that’s about it. Can’t trust Google as far as you can throw them. They might announce that Pixel is discontinued tomorrow. You never can tell with them.

I have every generation of Pixel, up to Pixel 7.

To give an example:

I am still rocking on Pixel 4 Oh So Orange as my secondary devices for work purpose. I have never reset the phone once since I got it back in 2020.

I was there for dark days of Android I think, from around 2012 until 2019. Maybe they've gotten better. I just think Google is too erratic.

When Apple buys display from Samsung they don't off the shelf display.
iPhone display is made by Samsung to the design specifications, color accuracy, they even control manufacturing process.
Samsung display will look different on Galaxy and an iPhone.
it also depends on calibration of display.
Oh pleeez.

I agree in principle. But I worry about with them what I worry about with Google itself. Nothing may go out of business tomorrow. Google may just decide they don’t want to make Pixel phones anymore. They’ll probably keep making Android but it is impossible to say what Google will do tomorrow.
True, but isn’t it with most every android phones … no long support.

Everyone has to rely on ADHD Google, which is a huge part of the problem. The other huge part is that everyone has to rely on Qualcomm. And the OTHER huge part of the problem is the network cartel still has their claws deep into Android. Part of what burned me on it is that I learned the hard way I didn't have to buy the AT&T branded Moto X. I meant to get the unlocked one. Exact same phone except AT&T locked the bootloader and changed the boot splash screen on one of them.

Oh, and they also refused to release the 6.0 update for it, when the unlocked (and all other versions I believe) did get the update.

I realize this was partially my mistake for not being hip to the scam but this is not a problem with the iPhone, never has been, and at this point it's clear it never will be.

Moto X, Galaxy S5, Huawei 6P, Pixel 2. Each one has a horror story. In those cases it wasn't even about long term support, they all started imploding at about 2 years. The Pixel 2 was the least bad but when it came time to replace it I had had enough of Google's shenanigans.

Over 3G, 4, 5, 11 Pro Max and now 13 Pro, I had the home button replaced on one of the earlier ones. And I've express device replaced a few times to get a new battery and pristine screen. No horror stories at all.

For all Apple is messing up some little things with the iPhone lately, they still get the fundamentals right.
