Oh the hate is strong with some of you. We're seeing the natural evolution of technology. Not copying. If you're going to point your finger at Samsung, you might as well point your finger at Apple too. But why bother. Buy the device that you want. No one is forcing you to do otherwise.

The only thing that I am somewhat disappointed about on my new iPhone 6s is the screen and it's something that Samsung will always reign superior with their smartphones.

Their super pixel-dense OLED displays are gorgeous to look at.

And with the rumored pressure sensitivity, higher resolution and improved brightness, the S7 will undoubtedly have the best smartphone display this year, beating the iPhone 6s, and, most likely, the iPhone 7.

I just wish Apple would step up their display game. 750p and LED are just unacceptable in 2016. Don't get me wrong, 326 ppi is not bad, but it's not good either.

You do realize that Samsung released a smart watch back in 1999?

You mean a cellphone that you strap onto your arm? then did nothing from 1999 to 2013 until rumors came out that Apple was releasing a watch?

as mentioned by the hagr182.. "a quick reaction" with a sub-par product.

Samsung will likely be the first to jump into 4k/8k screens. And before someone says they don't want or need it on the phone - it's because it will make VR that much better.

Shameless as always, not only did they steal iPhone's existing flagship feature, they even stole the features RUMORED for the next iPhone.

This makes me happy, because ball's in Apple's court now. They have to up their game or lose market share. Winner: me (consumer). :D

yea and when apple makes a waterproof iphone?

the samsung people probably thought "pressure sensitive" is the same thing as resistive touch screens from the late 90's lol

Yeah it really would.

VR on 326 ppi or even 401 ppi from the 6s Plus looks like a screen door.

For truly immersive VR, you need at least 600 or 700 ppi. I think the Xperia Z5 Premium's 4K display would be good enough for VR, considering its ppi is above 800.

Water proof phones have been around for years.

Samsung is expected to unveil its newest smartphones at Mobile World Congress on February 21, and ahead of their debut date, several leaks have hinted at the specs we can expect to see in the flagship devices of Apple's main competitor.

Like Apple, and continuing with its own trend of dual releases, Samsung will unveil two new smartphones: the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge with a curved display. Both devices look similar to the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, as seen in a render created by noted leaker @evleaks. The Galaxy S7 Edge will be larger, measuring in at 5.5 inches, the same size as the iPhone 6s Plus.

Samsung is expected to be adding a pressure-sensitive display, which would perhaps mimic some of the 3D Touch features available in the iPhone 6s, allowing it to respond to a new range of pressure-based gestures.

A microsite and video for the Galaxy S7 published this afternoon points towards improved water resistance and wireless charging, two features that are also rumored for Apple's iPhone 7. Samsung has long offered wireless charging through the Qi system, which uses a charging pad. Apple is rumored to be considering wireless charging in the iPhone 7, but it may not be ready until 2017 because Apple wants to use long-range charging that eschews a mat.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 was IP67 water resistant, a feature that didn't make it into the flagship Galaxy S6 but is expected to be included in the Galaxy S7. Rumors have also suggested the iPhone 7 will include improved water resistance.

While not expected to gain dual cameras like the iPhone 7 Plus, the Galaxy S7 is rumored to be gaining an improved camera that will offer better performance in lowlight photography. iPhone 7 design rumors have indicated the device may not feature a rear-protruding camera, and the Galaxy S7 design is also expected to do away with the rear camera bulge featured in the Galaxy S6.

Other rumors for the Galaxy S7 include improved battery life, the re-adoption of the micro SD card slot (in the S7, not the Edge) that was removed in the Galaxy S6, and a USB-C port for faster charging.

Samsung's newest devices will be unveiled next week, coming several months ahead of Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, its 2016 flagship devices. Apple will, however, be unveiling a new iPhone in the next month, introducing the 4-inch iPhone 5se at a March event.

lol.
Samsung, you have terrible software. Also, you don't update your devices for long. cyanogenmod is and will be better then any touchwiz **** you can put out. Also, you lost your fanbase with that **** you pulled. Getting isheep to buy your **** shows how much you really care about your users.

Apple shamelessly copied force touch from BlackBerry though and phablet from Samsung otherwise iPhones would still be 3.5".

RIM may have been one of the first big companies to pioneer onscreen haptic feedback with Surepress, but Apple sure didn't release a competing sub-par product within 6 months as an answer like Samsung has repeatedly done to other companies. RIM had a 7 year lead and did nothing to improve it.

I agree with hagr182 that overall it's ok if one company leads the way to force innovation, but you can't ignore that it's a market reaction (monkey-see monkey-do) when it occur over and over again. Either that or Samsung co-incidentally market the same flagship features as Apple (and others) months after release of a product or rumor.

To me, what has always amazed me is how fast they can do it!! They actually pride themselves on it (the Korean media calls it "fast-follower") and this has occurred before the iPhone. In Asia being able "copy" and distribute a competing product is actually something to be proud of - much of the Asian businesses are built after this model - first copy, make it cheaper, then leapfrog the competitor. And it works... where is BB, Nokia, Motorola today?

All tech companies do this. Waterproofing is nothing new. Neither is pressure sensitive screens. However there's clearly a bias with some here because it's Samsung. Selective memory too.

You do know force touch works differently then the bb storm, right? Also, phablets are not an invention. Apple copied phablets because the market wanted bigger iPhones, and this is what crippled samsung in the first place.

You realize that Samsung is improving their waterproofing because that's what the market wants. And that they are doing a pressure sensitive screen (if they even are - this is a rumor after all) because the market wants that too. See what I did there?

There is a clear bias because Samsung is good and successful at what they they do. They have a mastery on "distribution innovation"... They can copy a product (not just smartphones) and distribute it within 8-12 months. This sounds easy to do but it's not easy. Copying is also frowned upon be western culture, but it's a legit business model that's well regarded in Asia.

Samsung has been able to rapidly copy and outsell products from various industries and then eventually improve upon product to crush their rivals... Like I said earlier where is BB, Nokia, and Motorola? What happened to Japan's display industry?

Resolution beyond what the eye can detect is only a paper marketing ploy and a drain on resourses .

Did I miss something???? I would have sworn I saw the iPhone 6s sitting in water next to a Samsung phone for well over a 1/2 hour in a water test. To me that seems like both companies are already 90% there.

But it is not there yet at least for iPhone. At least Samsung has S6 Active. But for iPhone, not yet, at least Apple cannot guarantee you iPhone is water proof yet.
