Resolution beyond what the eye can detect is only a paper marketing ploy and a drain on resourses .

No - when it comes to VR - you want more than what the eye can see at normal distance because the current VR devices that use phone displays magnify the screen several times and you want the same "retina" level display when zoomed as you do when not.

Shameless as always, not only did they steal iPhone's existing flagship feature, they even stole the features RUMORED for the next iPhone.

This makes me happy, because ball's in Apple's court now. They have to up their game or lose market share. Winner: me (consumer). :D

Because Apple invented the concept of water resistant phones, without announcing anything...

Yeah... no really. For text, maybe. But cettain not for pictures. You can clearly see thr difference between 1080P and QuadHD screen whrn viewing pictures at 100% crop.

Also, Samsung's screen is way better than iPhone's IPS screen. I love AMOLED screen.

P.S. 4K or 8K is important for virtual reality. You just cannot use iPhone 6S's 720P screen with VR headset. There is big potential for high pixel density screen.

Here is what I took away from the article, do people really use the "edge" feature. i guess it doesnt hurt to have it on there, im just wondering how many are using it. Will there be a Galaxy note? Or are they releasing at different time.

"Apple is rumored to be considering wireless charging in the iPhone 7, but it may not be ready until 2017 because Apple wants to use long-range charging that eschews a mat."

Here, here, Apple!!! Take your time and get it right. Im sorry but having to put my phone on a pad......that has to be connected by wires, is not wireless charging. Wireless charging is just that, setting your phone down anywhere and having it charge, not setting on a pad that is connected by wire to usb or electric outlet. I may as well take the cable out of the pad and plug it into phone. Then at least I dont have this big dumb pad, I just have wire.

That makes sense but.......are you telling me Im going to put on a VR headset and then have to look at my Iphone screen through it???? I thought screen was built into headset?

Had Nexus 5 for long time and wireless charging pad for while. All i can say is: i don't have to find the freak USB cord and trying to figure out which way to plug in.

Before I go to sleep, i just put the phone on charging pad and not worry about it.

It is useful to some extend. I am also not sure how efficient iPhone's wireless charging. It does not looks thsy efficient for me when hold far away from wireless charging station

I find wireless charging very handy. Is it WAY faster? No. Not for charging or does it save a lot of time connection wise. But it is very handy to just drop my phone on a pad. And pick it up. Without having to connect/disconnect (and cause wear and tear) on a port which can be used for more than just charging. It's also been nice when out and about as some places here in NYC have charging mats built into their tables/countertops.

As for screens - They have different methods - stand alone - much much more expensive - or ones that use your phone/display - much much cheaper. IE - (and very different experiences too) Oculus rift hooks into the computer. There are wires... but the display is built into the headset - several several hundred dollars. Samsung Gear VR - wire free and uses your Samsung phone. $99.

Depends on setup. If you use Oculus VR, Samsung's VR or even Google's cardboard, you essentially put your phone inside the VR headset. Your phone will be right in front your eye.

When you put your phone extremely close to your eye, 720P screen will feeel very bad.

Did I miss something???? I would have sworn I saw the iPhone 6s sitting in water next to a Samsung phone for well over a 1/2 hour in a water test. To me that seems like both companies are already 90% there.

Without certification it's just luck. When it comes to water resistance I'd go with something that was designed for that purpose than pure luck especially when it comes to warranty replacement.

You mean a cellphone that you strap onto your arm? then did nothing from 1999 to 2013 until rumors came out that Apple was releasing a watch?

as mentioned by the hagr182.. "a quick reaction" with a sub-par product.

.
Not to be a stickler....but they also released one in 2009 ...Includeda touch screen and email as well...just saying

Tough year for me to pick a smartphone, this S7 edge, IPhone 7 or Surface phone all look like they will be excellent phones

I still think that Apple should start trolling them and start leaking rumors of some totally asinine features.

That Galaxy S7 mock-up render looks like an older Nokia N-Series, but with a touch screen.

Remove TOUCHWIZ and I would 'tap' that (pun intended).

Stock Android is what I want - not the BS all the other providers put in their.

Agree that Touch Wiz is a complete dog. (Why does Samsung insist on overbloating their phones and tablets?) With that said, Nexus delivers the best pure stock Google Android experience and blow Samsung out of the water in every area except camera. I have an iPhone 6+ and a Nexus 6, and my Nexus has become my go to everyday phone.

Once you go on Stock Android devices, there's no point in turning back. This is the main reason I will never buy a Samsung phone

I would consider switching over to a N gen phone - but the Samsung camera and camera software is vastly superior at this point in time. And as someone who takes a lot of pictures, that's important to me right now more than some bloat.

They need to change Touchwiz and also sort out the different font sizing in the widgets problem the have because of the high screen resolution, still they run Android so already a billion times better and more exciting then the iPhone is.
Sigh, the more I use my iPhone 6S the more I hate it and it's lack of features.
Sony had seriously better deliver this year with its next Xperia Compact.

Apparently, but then again an app was released that made the iPhone waterproof and people believed it:

http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/ios-7-makes-your-iphone-waterproof-ad-a-scam-dunk/

The iPhone 6S or 6 is not waterproof, Apple makes no claims as such, you go and dunk your phone in the toilet and see if it truly survives. Ifixit believed that an improved gasket helps it survive a bit in water.
And as for copying, Apple is straight up ripping of Sony if they do make an official waterproof and dustproof iPhone, I think Sony started it 3 to 4 years ago with the Z1?

I gotta say...it's cool that samsung have wireless charging. It would make life more easier; however, they need to change their attitude of making the phone non-replaceable...example: battery and sd card.

Well Samsung has had waterproof in the s5, but they still didn't create it, like force touch lol

Yeah, because Apple was first with wireless charging, quick charging, water proofing, micro SD expansion etc etc. Oh right, they weren't. LOL.
So far wireless charging is just a gimmick. If I use wired charging I can hold my phone and use it, with so called wireless charging, the phone has to sit on a charging pad, making it awkward to use, so not really a clever thing so far. Water proofing is certainly something to boast about, though it took me almost 30 minutes to kill an iPhone 5s in hot soapy water. SD expansion is something I have never missed, to be honest I wish Apple would get their way to get rid of SIM cards as well, fewer moving parts mean fewer problems.

So, as always, monkey sees monkey does...... it comes to no surprise that the screen is pressure sensitive or that they reacted to a rumored upcoming apple feature (let´s all remember Samy´s quick reaction to put out an smart watch when the apple watch rumors began (and let´s all remember the sub par product the original gear was (I can´t say the same for newer gear models tough)).

Overall this is ok with me, since it forces innovation from other manufacturers, apple included. Also a couple of friends of mine will be thrilled to hear micro sd slots are back! (some of them skipped the S6 line completely over the lack of this feature).

cry me a river. Apple is rumored to bring amoled screens within two years. I wonder why Apple is copying the display tech and asking Samsung to build amoled screens for them.
