Huh? Android Auto and CarPlay have about the same adoption rate 91% vs 93%. Link But I've never met anyone say they wouldn't buy a car if it didn't have Android Auto, and so many say they wouldn't buy car if it didn't have CarPlay. The garden is strong.
You’re from the USA I suppose? Volvo and many other brands use Android automotive. It’s open and carmakers can make the adjustments to make it look and feel like the rest of their brand.

Apple is closed and that’s why you won’t see CarPlay 2.0.

Because the design and dimensions are nearly identical? Rearrange the cameras on either and you've got two phones that strikingly similar.

That is pretty much the same for any flagship phone. Unless we get into foldable phones, the camera design is what separates the look these days.

What will be the price? The good part of this Samsung event is that Apple really has to shift gears to not end like Nokia.

It took Nokia 7 years…

I'd say Apple is pretty safe because of their software and integration across the ecosystem. I can't think of a single better work experience than an iPad, iPhone, Mac. Not just work, but complete integration. There are so many things I take for granted that no one else is tapping into: Airdrop, Continuity, Sidecar. That is just a few things that cannot be easily accomplished outside of the apple ecosystem. Those may seem niche, but I think that is because people do not tap into just how good the ecosystem actually is.

It looks like a VR headset. They all look stupid IMO and I had some Oakley Ski googles a while back that look like the apple ones, so Where's the accusation that Apple copied others.

It also seems like Samsung has more software engineers as Apple. Because Samsung was able to fully integrate Gemini with their own offerings while Apple’s Siri asks: you want me to use ChatGPT for that 😅
That's a privacy feature, not "Apple can't figure out how to do it". In fact, you can turn it off if you want

Exactly. CarPlay would be a feature I look for in a car, because I have an iPhone.

I'd hope Samsung spurs Apple to do more for the Vision Pro, but though I own a Quest 3 and a Vision Pro, I hardy ever use the Quest 3. When I use the Vision Pro, my pictures are there automatically. My mail is there automatically. The virtual display for my Mac just works. I'm in the garden.

I'm really impressed with the Quest 3, and it has improved over the past year, but I mainly let the kids use it (if they've done their homework and their grades are up). But it doesn't do the things the Vision Pro does.

Me: Looks like the one from Apple.

Samsung: Nah.

Me: Pretty sure. Apple released something very similar.

Samsung: Whatever.

Me: Did you copy Apple's device?

Samsung: NO! Man! Copy nothing! Sh--ooot!

Me: Ok. What's the difference?

Samsung: We used more ground unicorn horn to make the sparkles for our paint.

Me: UGH!

It's actually a tale as old as Apple. Tech nerds look at the specs of Apple stuff and go "it's less powerful and way more expensive than [insert Windows/Android/Whatever device here], Apple fans must be sheep to buy it" not realizing the software, integration, and ecosystem makes it far nicer to use than the supposedly "better" competition.

Back on topic, interesting when everyone on MacRumors can't pile on fast enough to declare AVP a dead product in a dead product category that not only is Samsung playing in the same field, they broke out the photocopier again to do it. It's almost as if Samsung thinks there is a market here, and that maybe that a state-of-the-art product that was priced higher than the average American's monthly take home pay isn't Apple's endgame here, but rather they're going to use it to push the technology forward and down in price.

At its Unpacked event, Samsung showed off its upcoming "Project Moohan" AR/VR headset, which is designed to compete with the Vision Pro. Some users might even mistake the headset for a Vision Pro, given the design similarities.

Samsung is developing the headset in collaboration with Google, and it will run Google's Android XR operating system. Google introduced Android XR late last year. Android XR and Samsung's headset will support being immersed in a virtual environment or staying present in the real world, similar to how Apple allows ‌Apple Vision Pro‌ users to adjust the Vision Pro immersion level by activating or shutting out the real world passthrough view provided by cameras.

The headset from Samsung will support Google features like Gemini, Google's AI assistant, providing access to device controls and insight into what the wearer is seeing. Samsung has described Project Moohan as "lightweight" and "ergonomically optimized" for "maximum comfort," but no details on weight are available yet.

Project Moohan will be the first headset designed for Android XR, and it is set to launch later in 2025.

Did they also copy not allowing PC/Sim hardware input as well?

It looks like how any ski goggle VR headset looks and Apple did not invent it. Its a mash up of design elements from oculus and vision.
Yeah, the title of the post should be more like "...it looks a lot like the Quest Pro" (which came much earlier than Vision Pro). The front shape, the hard strap with rear head support, the forehead support, no EyeSight.

They all have the same ecosystems now. Google has it, Samsung has it, Xiaomi has it. All good working ecosystems with good working personal assistant. Siri not included.

Is there any law that Apple would be able to sue them cause this ain’t just copy cat inspiring but this is straight up identical and copying lol this is ridiculous
If there was, Apple got sued for their AVP

I'd argue that since Apple changed over to the M series processors, you are actually getting more bang for your buck in the spec realm too. I can't think of a single device priced similar to the M4 Mac mini with nearly the same performance ($499 from the EDU store).

To me the interesting thing happening in this space is Android XR

Without question, content and development on a given platform are the most important factors for success in this space
Yes, but will it follow a similar formula as Android apps in general? Even though Android has a far greater marketshare worldwide, developers still tend to prioritize iOS first because 1) it's easier to develop for far few devices and 2) Apple device users tend to spend A LOT more money on apps/software than their Android counterparts.

What is the Samsung equivalent to sidecar, airdrop, and continuity? Genuinely curious. I don't want to hear, download this app, that app, etc.

You are already crossing Samsung, Google, and Windows with that very statement vs Apple for all of it.
