Why not just pay for the sponsorship to begin with?

Ultimately, that is the best solution. But obviously they can't do that right now. Meanwhile, pro athletes being seen constantly wearing Beats is a major part of their success and I doubt they want to lose that. I'm curious how much Bose is paying the NFL.

But the NFL has no right to tell the players what to do. It violates their freedom guaranteed by the Constitution. I don't even understand why they have contracts since they are unconstitutional. Players can do whatever they want, especially if it is something that concerns Apple. :D

LOL, I could feel my temperature rising until I got as far as the disclaimer.
The guy is a dick. They should stop him playing, then all of his other sponsors would pressure him to abide by the rules.
Mind you Bose should supply all of the players with headphones. That’s what we do for all of our subcontractors. When they represent us, they wear our gear as in effect they are sponsoring us. Occasionally we go to a customers site where they insist what we wear/use/do or we don’t get the job, (we price the work accordingly). They provide the clothing/equipment. This holds true as long as there are no Health and Safety issues.

Michael Jordan used to get fined THOUSANDS of dollars back in the day for wearing non regulation color sneakers and guess who paid the fines... Yep... Nike. It was the best and cheapest advertising they could've imagined. Same situation here, I'd guess.

Trouble is people take it too far. That’s where the attitude "I’ll break the law if I like cos I can pay for it" begins.

These players are a bunch of overpaid spoiled big children that can't give up their toys for 15 minutes even if they get millions for running after a ball with their friends. I think someone should send those big children to taste real work sometimes, with an average salary.

Unless beats pink head phones specifically donate some profit towards breast cancer ( similar to apples red branding), then this is a huge kop out. Because Wearing pink 200+ head phones will do nothing to help the cause of breast cancer victims. In all likelyhood, This is a marketing campaign manufactured by beats and using breast cancer as a tool for it. Oh and the guy probably got payed to do it.

The color pink is used very prominently all through breast cancer awareness month of October. There many activities that actively raise money for research or charities, but there is also a lot of activities simply raising aware towards the topic. The NFL has for years endorsed this including the players wearing pink clothing items such as gloves, shoes, towels etc.

Breast cancer is often well treatable with minimal cosmetic implications if found early, which is why a regular screening is important.
If he got one person examining their breast by wearing pink stuff .. that could already be well worth it.

People will believe what they want. No matter what you tell this kid, he or she will never see it differently.

The individual should try explaining to his or her boss why he or she did not wear the required uniform to Taco Bell for work.

RIGHTS! RIGHTS! RIGHTS!

If you were to try to walk into one of the biohazard confinement areas without wearing the appropriate protective gear that the university research lab policy dictates, you might get yourself fired before you could tell them to go do anything. Or have the CDC after you to lock you up in quarantine.

Now you are just trying to manipulate the topic. I do hope you comprehend that there is the difference between contextual safety gear and 'normal' outfit one wears to the office? Or do you think that teaching is so dangerous that one needs to wear a hazmat suit?

And since when are headphones part of the protective apparel? :D

Many renowned World-class universities in the past used to require uniforms to attend at all.

In the past, you hat to work 12 hours a day, did not have any health insurance and were not allowed to have a lunch break, while continuously kissing your bosse's ass. Good thing that we are living in the world now where these archaisms have been overcome.

wow..

they ARE serious... about no headphones..

Personally, he probably deserved it alone for wearing "pink" anyway. He "Opted" so he had a choice...

That says it all really

Wouldn't u wanna wear some black headphones, that a color which would stand out in the crowd ?

"Oh ya, that's him,, the guy with the pink headphones"

Exactly. There's no way of anyone but the player and Beats winning in this particular scenario. If the NFL keeps the money, it'll look like they don't care about breast cancer. If Bose complains as well, they'll look horrible. Either way this guy ends up looking like he cares more about the cause than Bose's marketing ploy. The real question is, how far do the NFL and Bose want to push this issue before people get angry with them. The NFL does NOT need more of the "we hate women" headlines.

Here's how they can make this whole thing good :

1: Have his fine go to breast cancer research (for both women and men - KISS' drummer had breast cancer as well)
2: (for Bose) Donate $100K (10x the fine) to breast cancer research.
3: Ask Colin (in private) to refrain from wearing them per the NFL contract (if it's 90 minutes after the game, at 90:01, there you go...)

Contracts are terms which people voluntarily enter. This is akin to Apple taking Samsung to court over patent violations. You can't just break a contract because you "want to" without consequences. Just ask that sapphire plant in Arizona.

I think Colin did it because he wanted to bring attention to breast cancer, and he succeeded. Dramatically! :D

NFL saying they can't wear Beats headphones is a joke.

NFL next week will sign a deal with "The Clown Academy" and all players must wear a red nose during Interviews.

Total pisstake.

Bose have always bee like this. In retail if you wish to sell Bose products, you ave to sign an agreement that you will have Bose in their own section, away from their competitors, and have their demo stands at the front of everything. I once got the Bose rep come to sell me their brand (I worked in retail), the agreements and the amount of stock we had to carry was stupid. They would sue if any of the agreement was broken.

I am surprised they can even do something like this. Seems to be a massive violation of personal freedom.
Why?
Player signs contract with team, which includes regulations between team and league...players pay comes (in part) from pr-deals and advertisement (in this case bose)...

So what you are saying is that if a sponsor asks those teams and individuals, who it pays for a specific behaviour (promote our product, don't use other product in public), to fullfill that deal it is violating personal freedom???

Now I like football

Normally, I see the sport of football as nothing but a time passer with irrelevant results year after year that do nothing but generate income for those hosting events and advertising. Football is not any different than the bachelor or any reality show that's televised and for entertainment purposes... but this is fun. This is an event that will create dialog about policy, purpose, fines, contracts, etc, which can be impactful rather than just entertainment.

Instead of thinking...
"Will team A or team B win today?",

I can think...
"oh yes, will Bose market a pink set of headphones?"

"Will more players breach a contractual agreement to make a statement for a relatively small fine compared to the publicity they get?"

"Will the NFL have some secretary who knew about him wearing pink headphones before he left the locker room?"

"Was this breach of contract reported to NFL authorities prior to stepping out in the public spotlight?"

"Did the NFL commissioner see a video and do nothing?"

Now the NFL is fun to watch,
Thanks random Quarterback who is normally irrelevant but is now an Icon.

Guess I'll look for 49ers this season if I'm somewhere and football is the only thing on TVs.

1. Don't pay the fine
2. Leave the players' association and specify the terms of your employment for yourself and yourself only.

From what I heard from my friend working at Apple HQ, they instructed everyone sponsored by Beats in the NFL to defy the ban, and continue to wear the headphones, as Apple is going to pay for it.

As for Bose, Apple is in process of removing all of their products from Apple Store by the end of the month. They do plan on announcing couple of audio accessories at the keynote.

Interesting if this is true.

You don't have a friend working at Apple HQ.
If you had a friend working at Apple HQ, they wouldn't tell you that kind of thing .
If they told you that kind of information, you would have a friend formerly working at Apple HQ.

the question is,

why is he wearing the crap studios when he can get the Pros?

solos and studios are trash and deserve the hate.

but the pros are quality headphones
