OMG I'm so disappointed. I have to order a MBP today for a job I need next week. I absolutely HATE that the MBP I order today will be out of date by WDDC.
Isn't there anyone who could *rent* you a computer for a week or so?

License allows you to install software to more than one computer. Wasn't it five? Anyway, because of that I don't have to buy three separate licenses for my computers.
Although I still find myself holding off to wait for a clean install of Leopard, rather than buying now and having to update later.... extra time and extra expense. (Maybe updating on a Mac isn't so problematic as Windows?)
On the plus side the lack of any new MBP today does give more weight to the theory of a brand new style to be released with a big fanfare at WWDC![]()
If you're new to Macs, then why not buying one now and getting used to it? Clean install of Tiger gives you idea about what you're facing with Leopard later. At that time, there shouldn't be any trouble at all.
Honestly, unless there's a big upgrade to the GPU (or the new MBP has TurboMemory so OSX boots up in seconds), I think I would have been better off just buying a MBP back in January instead of agonizing myself waiting all this time...
I will also be disappointed if they're not putting in the LED screens. But because there's hope for that, I'm waiting... for now.
What was missing in a MBP a year ago? Now that I'm waiting for the LED screens, it seems so irrelevant to expect superdrive speed bumb to 8x or double the VRAM size or slightly newer GPU version. Or minor CPU speed bump, or slighly faster FSB. Compared to the LED screen, anything else would have to be HUGE to get me excited.

hard drive isn't user replaceable
Well, this current style *is* rather oldish, dates back to 2003 but what would you change? It's really beautiful as it is. IF it's not broken, why fix it?
Added to which Jonathan Ives and his team have never been ones to rest on their laurels, so Icurious to see what they've got lined up to make us all go "WOW!" now...
That would be huge, but it's not very hard to replace in the current design either. You just need a 00-size screwdriver, after which it's a piece of cake. Still, you're right, hard drive replacement without tools would be great!
Well, thinksecret was right about the tuesday launch of the MacBooks. I think they are most likely right about a MacBook Pro update coming at WWDC.
"ThinkSecret claims that Apple has indeed placed an order for 15.4-inch LED backlit displays targeting a June announcement at WWDC."
Oh well... just have to hold out. I was really hoping it would be today though.
