So the question is, if the MBP updates are good should I do what would make Apple happy and buy one rather than the continue waiting for the Santa Rosa MB I've been waiting 8 months for...?

So I find it interesting how Best Buy, has taken down the 15.4 models, Compusa is "Out of Stock", Amazon was reported as "Out of Stock" but now shows up as they have them.

Bah, I never thought I would be one of the ones checking up on this stuff every 20 minutes. The anticipation is growing in me. This is be my first Macbook Pro, likewise Mac. Though, it is by no means the first time I have used one ;) .

I'm even wondering if the 15.4 will even have an LED screen, because they ordered 13" screens to but you don't see the Macbooks have LED screens.

Cheers Jobs, you have planted a seed of anticipation into another geek.

Well the rumor said the 13" were ordered for a third quarter roll-out. So they were ordered for a later date than the 15" which fits.

I'm still hoping for some awesome updates tommorow. Or any update at all really since I can then justify buying one now instead of waiting longer.

not gonna get my hopes up too much, but im not gonna lie ill be crossing my fingers when i go to bed tonite, hoping to wake up to an updated mbp

after a weekend with zero new rumors and monday with no rumors relating to the MBP, i have my money on no update tomorrow.

sorry guys.

It's not like improved DirectX support doesn't mean OpenGL is left out.

Exactly. These are brand new chips. If Apple can't use some of the new features given by both DX10 compliancy (and a new version of OpenGL???) that these new cards bring, there's something seriously wrong.

Also, better performance per watt is better performance per watt. The card doesn't care if it is running under OSX, XP or Vista. It's still going to perform better.

And as it is a brand new card, with much better performance per watt, even if the normal TDP of the Mobility HD 2600 /XT is twice as much as the X1600, Apple can underclock it a little (power is proportional to clockspeed squared, so a small decrease in speed makes a huge difference in power consumption), down to the X1600 TDP, and it will still completely crush the X1600. Then, people who want the extra power and don't care about some extra heat and less battery life can clock the card back up to recommended speeds.

The question remains, can Apple get their hands on 100,000 Mobility Radeon HD 2600 /XT 's from ATI/AMD to pair with those 100,000 15.4" LED/LCD screens to make 100,000 15.4" Santa Rosa MBPs? One of which is mine? :D

There's not going to be any updates while I'm awake.

Updates usually occur at about 2am Wednesday morning here in Australia, I believe. But then again, I've never been awake to see one (for obvious reasons)

Have been waiting for more than 6 months now.

That's crazy. Even 6 weeks would be a lot of waiting. Then again, perhaps you have not yet really *needed* a new computer this year? If you need one, you buy one; except, never buy anything before WWDC unless that product has just been updated.

Point being, 6 months ago MBP was fairly new revision. If you needed one back then you should have been fine with it had you bought one.

Apple Store still open, no MBP update in sight :(

I'm not 100% certain, but I suspect product updates work on Californian time, so that they can be announced from Apple HQ, in which case they won't be for a while yet as it's only 04:46 in Cupertino right now! ;)

When the MacBook update happened the store was back up before 9am est. That would be the same time the stores opened here on the east coast.

With no rumors out there I think we may not see a update today, but I am holding out hope for a Stevricle.

I guess it maybe time to open my new MacBook Pro. Somebody Stop ME!
