What should I do?

So... if the rumor about the Macbook not getting Santa Rosa and LED is true ... Should i go Macbook pro? I have up to $3000 to spend, but i don't need the pro and I would like a very portable one.

Here are the variables:

I'm wondering what labtop system I should buy for my needs.

I almost always run iTunes and run web browsing and word processing. I am a college student and I want to be able to easily carry the labtop around with me.
I would do some video editing (not professional) on iMovie.

I've been waiting for the LED screens and Santa Rosa, and I really want both, but if macbook doesn't have either (and I need a labtop this summer) should i just go pro???

Thanks for your help.

same thing as everyone else says, if you need it now buy it now, if you can wait wait.

Personally I can still wait a bit longer, waited nearly a year so obviously I don't need it as much as I thought I did but I will be buying a macbook pro with santa rosa

Sense of entitlement much?

Check the previous year's "Back to college" promos, newly released machines are explicitly excluded from the free iPod deal.

Apple doesn't give a fark about college students, they are just dumb frat boys with money to lap up on Apple's old iStock.

They would likely be releasing them around the same time as the bts promo, hence why I said "in time" for the college shopping season.

I think Apple cares about college students, after all they have their whole higher education benefits.

BTW, I may be in college but I'm not a dumb frat.

I'm in the market for a Macbookpro and think its likely to arrive before WWDC. But if Apple release it before WWDC i'm likely to think; what could be released at WWDC, itablet ?

No, if an update to both the MacBook and MacBook Pro comes before WWDC, I don't foresee anything like that happening. They will probably focus on Leopard, iLife and the iPhone.

Laptop. Like for your lap, instead of your desk! ;)

First of all I dont think that you guys understand that WWDC is mainly SOFTWARE it is a conference for developers. They would release hardware either before or after WWDC, most likely before WWDC so they can showcase the software they have to utilize the new hardware. I think the new hardware will be released before WWDC and its very possible that it could be coming out in the next week or two and I, personally am VERY EXCITED for the new MBP's. I want one so badly for college.

The only software I see at WWDC is a big Leopard preview. Leopard non-beta will be released in October. There will probably be no iLife '07, iLife '08 will probably come at MacWorld 2008 along with Penryn.

In the past macs and ipods have been launched at wwdc my only concern is that it may be a bit crowded. Heres my predicition.
This week we had macbooks. next week mbps, the week after imacs, the week after that ipod 6g then its wwdc where will have leopard preview and death of mac mini replaced by something much better.

Think what will happen to the share price if this happens.........

It'll plummet, if the other updates aren't any better than this one :D

A 5.7G iPod...with a new 40GB size.

I would guess October, together with Leopard. June would be too soon as it may negatively affect their "new" "hot" macbooks that just came out.

I really doubt that. I'm 99% sure it'll come out way before that. This is actually the first time the Macbook "regular" got updated before the "pro". They're usually within a month of each other.

New MBPS and new imacs are definate by WWDC. that much is obvious. What is not clear howether is when they will be announced. Also the mac minis need some attention and so does the range topping ipod. My concern is that WWDC will be a bit of iphone, alot of leopard and maybe new imacs just to make everyone haappy. But the minis and mbps need to still be updated. Hopefulllu by WWDC nearly all the products would have had a refresh in the last 3 months eg Mac pros are now 8 core, macbooks just been updated etc....

Yet one of the most important Apple hardware (PowerMac G5) saw daylight at WWDC with a lot of hype and a great keynote speech. Developers are all about software *and* hardware, that's natural for geeks and come to think of it, neither can live without the other.

NAB and such are more about software, but even that conference audience is also very interested in hardware.

Mainly software = consumer event, such as Leopard launch party.

Very Soon? I sure hope so.

My MBP was ordered on May 8th. I received a notice that it would ship May 11-15, today I received yet another note:

Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following
item(s) by the date that you were originally quoted:

Z0DP, MBPRO 15/2.16 CTO
will now ship on or before May 25, 2007

Now I'm thinking that maybe we will see new MBP's next week.

Good news. I think we all expected 15" LED-backlighted MBP's yesterday, but if they're going to be released next tuesday I'm just as happy. What's in a week?
