Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I couldn't run 2 of these in raid. My slots are all occupied. Looks like if I want 4X I'll have to get the 1TB.
 
I picked up a 1 TB PCIe SSD advertised as model MZ-KPU1T0T/0A2 on e-bay but received a MZ-KPU1T0T/A06. The seller claims these are equivalent parts with the same specs, e.g. x4 and transfer rate. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case?

It may be that /0A2 is from the new MP and /A06 is from a rMBP without the heat sink.

I am waiting on the Sintec adapter to do a test.

It seems very difficult to determine specs on these various part numbers for Apple/Samsung PCI SSDs. 😕

I decided I would be satisfied with the slower speed parts and save $400, so purchased the same part you ordered: MZ-KPU1T0T/0A2

That is what I received and then waited for my Sintec adapter to get here (someone ought to stock these in the US and sell them with the SSDs for simultaneous delivery!).

Let us know what the MZ-KPU1T0T/A06 parts test.

FWIW (as far as saving $400) I picked up my (faster) MZ-KPV1T00/0A2 for only $700. There just don't seem to be any of them around at the moment. I had a T02/A06 revision as well that I bought from the seller in Korea--worked fine, very similar umbers to yours--but after I saw Synchro3's crazy numbers I put out a watch for his model number on Ebay. It has only notified me of 1--and I jumped on it immediately (as I would if another came up 😉). Here is the blackmagic on the T00/0A2:

Yeah ... I was enticed by those as well. I found the eBay sale for them in the $700 range, but just hours later they had jumped to $1035 ... and then they were gone. 😱

Hopefully, they will come around again soon, but I didn't want to wait, and the one I got exceeds the performance of my PCIe SSD RAID-0, doesn't have Trim issues, and was priced (by "make offer") much less ... so I got it.

Other than running benchmarks, I doubt I will notice the difference. 😉
 
For the time being it is still cheaper buying the regular Samsung XP941 in Europe.

Can't seem to find a good price on eBay on the Apple parts, without being taxed with import duties etc.

Going into Mid-November and onto the holidays, Apple/Samsung SSD's continue to offer the best value for cMP upgrades to PCIe flash. Prices for the 1TB SSD hover between 500-600ish, and offer comparable performance to the $520 M.2/NGFF 512GB Samsung XP941.

If you are in the market for an Apple/Samsung SSD, save some money be setting up a product watch on Ebay and buy when the deals show up.

The Fastest SSD - Ever
There have been two lucky ones purchasing 1TB Apple/Samsung SSD's on Ebay that have won the SSD Lottery! A new generation of NVMe based SSD's with 1.4 GB/s performance has started to show up prior to retail availability in any Apple product. Pushing the Classic Mac Pro as a "Benchmark" for the nMP to attain. (well once they have the SSD's.. lol) for now, we have the fastest consumer oriented SSD's available in the market... Sweet!!

What should I buy?
These day's it's hard to take a pass on Apple/Samsung SSD's for the cMP. With Adapters at $10, and great prices on gently used products for the low end, it offers a Trim ready plug and play solution to bring faster than SATA3 performance for the cMP for 128, 256 and 512GB variants. It's hard to recommend a XP941 512Gb. For <$100 more, you can jump to 1TB. The XP941 does hold the performance crown over Apple's 128/256 and 512GB SSD's, bit a hefty price increase.

2:The product only support read data and write data in SSD,don not support as the system startup disk.

In the cMP this is not the case they work as system disks well. I have a flashed 4.1 to 5.1 with 2 apple 1TB PCIe SSD's and the sintech adapters in slots 3 & 4. As I am only ever using one at once no problems with the shared bus controller. Apart from the expense this seemed like the perfect set up for me. They both back themselves up to traditional HD's in the normal bays.

The one has my OS10.10 set up the other has a UEFI install of windows 8.1 for gaming and other bits and bobs that I can't do in OSX. The performance of each is near identical. The windows install was a royal pain in the ass but I should of expected that. The gaming performance is fantastic after a session playing Bioshock Infinite it was only afterwards I realised that I had not noticed any waiting for loading etc. It seemed like an unbroken experience😎

I snatched up one of the $10 PCIe cards and I'd love to pick up one of the Apple/Samsung SSDs you recommend. Can you clarify the model number for this unit? I am going to set up my eBay product watch and want to make sure I get the right one!

On another note, I'm tempted to spend the extra cash on the NVMe based SSD. Do they come in a capacity less than 1TB? What model number is associated with this one and is it comparable with my $10 PCIe card?

Has anyone from the UK ordered the pcie ssds from ebay? Most of them seem to be coming from Korea and I was wondering how much import duty/tax get added on?

Someone mentioned the samsung xp941 still being a better option in europe, is the import duty the reason why?

The PCIe adapter from Sintec arrived. Everything appears to work fine, including using it as a system disk on a 5,1 Mac Pro. I am getting comparable speeds to those reported for MZ-KPU1T0T/A02 - see attached.

What am I looking for to find a 256 GB - for that price - I am ALL IN.
 
the ebay samsung 512gb that i got for $250 on a sintech adapter.

not the fastest but the native trim sure is lovley.

I have been watching uk ssd prices for a while and Apple Samsung ssds are still more expensive than Samsung XP941 ones. Prices in the US are very different.
Also I guess fewer people pulling their ssds out of their rMBPs. In the UK best prices are upwards of £200 for 256Gb Apple pulls (rare) and £180 for New 256Gb Samsung XP941 more easily found.
Importing is pricey with shipping costs (depending), probable handling fee (£8 usually) Import Tax for SSDs is 0% but Import VAT is 20%.

Those prices were the cheapest I've seen on eBay to date. The best way to find deals on SSD's is to set a watch on ebay for "late 2013 macbook ssd" with a maximum price of $750. Good deals show up on ebay on a regular basis and don't last long. FWIW... The day I received my used 512GB PCIe SSD, new listings showed up on eBay for $500ish for the same product. The market this weekend is flooded with overpriced resellers who picked up the last deal. A 100% markup.. WTF.

As soon as PCIe adapters arrive from China, I'll have 1 new and 1 used Apple/Samung 512GB SSD - PCIe adapter combo's available @ 10% over my cost + shipping. Unfortunately, I did't pick up any 256GB sticks.
