Better looking than apples but not buying anything that doesn’t give full wattage
Nice that its 5ft
3ft cable should be illegal
Give it time, and Apple will sell a MagSafe charger with a longer cable. They know 3 feet is too short. They also know that people who bought the first MagSafe...will buy another to have the longer cable. That crap is infuriating.

I just don't see the point. Wireless means without a wire to me tbh.

Might as well charge quicker and more efficiently and just plug the damn cable in if you're connecting something physically anyway.
Like I said, you’ve probably never gave wireless charging a real shot before.

I used to think wireless was a gimmick, but I’ve found that I pick up my phone from my desk probably about 100 times a day. Because of wireless, it’s nice to pick up my phone, lean back fully in my chair without any restrictions to movement, use it for 10 seconds, and easily place back on the charger.

With a cable, I wouldn’t practically be unplugging my phone and replugging it a 100 times a day. I’d be using it hunched over my desk or leaving it unplugged on the first pick up which could mean I’m left with a dead battery by end of day.

Spending more time on actual leaning then phone usage:eek:

Seriously: Good point

Just ordered one. I simply want this on my nightstand to conveniently set it without having to adjust to center. Plus, I DO NOT want anything more than 7.5W charging overnight.
iOS software actually changes the charging wattage depending on the device temperature and battery level. So you’re not getting 15W unless your device is cool and the battery level is quite low.

But what I don’t understand is, why on earth would you buy this over magsafe?
7.5 W or 15 W.
Regular wireless charging, or apples integrated wireless charging that dynamically adjusts charging speed to prolong battery health.
Weird rounded charger, or flat circle made out of aluminum.
I don’t understand why this product exists.

I think this product tries to ride on the MagSafe hype but they can’t get any Apple certification on the product.. which should be clear and upfront in the product description. what’s the point of buying this over Apple’s MagSafe?

Also what’s the matter with the “fake Japanese” brand name?

The constant bUt It'S nOt WiReLeSs If ThERe'S sTiLl A wIrE is so tiring, lol.

As if it's clearly not something distinct from plugging your phone in. I can imagine -- physics not withstanding -- getting to a point where you have wireless charging just by being in proximity of your charger, and them complaining that it's like having an invisible wire because they can't leave the area.

It's not even wireless internet because I still have to plug wires into the router! Why hasn't Apple conquered physics!

We really need MagSafe dash mounts.

I can see that with a dock or mat where I just put the phone, but with this magnet stuff the phone is physically connected to a wire, and it’s no different than having the cable plugged in.
btw it’s bad to keep your battery charging all the time, isn’t it?

These mounts get expensive. $50 here, $19 new cable there, new $10 12 volt adapter there. You’re getting close to an aftermarket CarPlay unit.

iOS13 added optimized charging where it stops at 80% and resume shortly before you normally start using it. Not sure how well it’ll help deaging batteries though

There is a need for lower cost Duo charger in market. Design it without megnetic feature that can lower price point but make it easily to place iphone and iwatch on it to charge together.

when i pick up my phone from my magsafe with a natural grip, my middle finger effortlessly slides off the magsafe from behind. there’s no extra work

iPhone has battery management that learns and limits the charge to a certain percentage until you need it. so if you pick up your phone a lot from the wireless charger, it’ll slow down the charging. or if you only charge at night, it’ll charge to 80% immediately then time it right to charge to 100% right before you get up.

so it's a Qi charger that utilizes magnets, for positioning ... having to charge face down might work for some but I doubt for many ... at least it is priced right (unlike other accessories from a fruit name manufacturer :D)

Wonder if the magnetic “sticker” is stronger than MagSafe? I’d love to turn it into a car charger if it’s stronger!

Because I’m not interested in purchasing a separate 20w charging brick.
LOL. Very fair argument. I just bit the bullet and bought a tiny cube from Aukey that’s got the right specs because I figure Apple is “future-planning” with MagSafe. (And because I think it’s super cool that a cube as tiny as the oldie iPhone cubes can charge things with that much power. Gallium nitride!) Murmurs of a port-less iPhone have gone around long enough now and Apple introduced charging tech that’s 3x faster than what all the cubes in the boxes (‘til last year) could offer. I’m praying it doesn’t happen for a while, I love my Lightning port, but yeah.

(I do love the cube I bought. The prongs fold in, fixing one of the most annoying things about Apple’s version. I’ve got an iPad Pro as well…there are several reasons it was a useful purchase for me. This power adapter spectacle as a whole is pretty un-Apple-ish though.)
