Exactly, you would never be able to set your phone face up confidently with this thing.
A curved bottom really? What a design fail. I don't want my device face down while charging, and I also don't want it wobbling around on a curved bludge.

That's not a dash mount.

those that can’t see the convenience of wireless charging probably hasn’t used one before.
The convenience of it is being able to effortlessly place the phone on the charger at night when going to bed.
The concept of MagSafe expands on that specific purpose by helping the biggest issue: alignment.

The pictures shown don't make any sense because, despite the fact that you can, using it while connected to these giant chargers make no sense at all.

This product seems to traffic in consumer confusion. Many people won't realize that a key benefit of MagSafe is faster charging and they'll buy this thinking it's about the same thing. I'm all for alternatives to Apple-branded solutions, but this one strikes me as borderline deceptive.

i LOVE my wireless chargers, in particular my wireless docks where i just rest my phone in a viewable position when at the desk, my nightstand etc. and they charge. WHAT WE CAN'T SEE is the "convenience" of a large circular wireless puck stuck to the back of my phone while I hold it, at risk of being bumped off, being something i feel as i hold the phone, and only charging at a fraction of the speed of a lightening cable that i could also use while holding the phone.

look don't get me wrong, i like the magnetic design of MagSafe for the mount options and security of getting just the right fit when wireless charging, but the real future of MagSafe is to find a way to make wireless charging possible WHILE YOU USE THE PHONE, but unfortunately that remains full of compromises.

I agree 100%!! why is it called wireless charging when you still need a wire!! It reminds me of Bluetooth headphones that are connected to each other with a wire. They are NOT wireless!
“Induction” was too difficult for people 🤦‍♂️ They dumbed it down too much, and now the term wireless is meaningless. “Port-less” is more accurate, but please just call it what it is, inductive charging.

wireless chargers negate the need to use the phone while charging. since it’s much more convenient to initiate the charge, it spends more time on the charger every day and therefore doesn’t need to be connected while being used.

an exception would probably be for extreme heavy gamers who play games for hours straight but i think that’s a minority and will probably prefer being plugged in anyways

But what I don’t understand is, why on earth would you buy this over magsafe?
7.5 W or 15 W.
Regular wireless charging, or apples integrated wireless charging that dynamically adjusts charging speed to prolong battery health.
Weird rounded charger, or flat circle made out of aluminum.
I don’t understand why this product exists.
I agree with all other points, but I think the dynamic charging speed is controlled by the phone and not the charger.

Who puts their phone face down while it’s charging? How do you know if you’re getting a message or if someone calls? It’s such a shame that the Apple charger mat never worked out.

I put it face down when I’m sleeping so it doesn’t light up my room. Even if I’m not I have my watch for notifications.

All the whining about Apple’s 1-meter cable on MagSafe pucks... and all the cheap, 100W capable USB-C 2-meter extension cables available out there.

how is faster charging a key benefit of MagSafe? If you want faster charging, use a wire. If you’re in a rush to charge, who uses any wireless charging method?

I just don’t like the magnetic aspect of the “wireless”. I like leaving my phone bed-side, or on desk while it charges “wirelessly” - and being able to pick it up with one hand and not have it cabled magnetically to an outlet. The battery life is so good on my 12 Pro Max, that I just don’t need to refill it at 15w anyway. I am just fine with self-powered Qi chargers that stay-put when i grab my phone. Bring on 15w charging minus the magnet.

Yes, the cables ARE cheap, so Apple should provide a longer one as the standard. I doubt many people would complain about a 5 foot cable, and go shopping for a 3 foot to replace it.

If Apple provided a longer one standard, that would make the charger less versatile for travel and for many other applications.

What they should do is offer the option. I would buy the shorter one in any case, but people who don’t know about extension cables might opt for a longer one.

Those pictures are not really helping.
Honestly, wouldn't it be more efficient just to plug it into the lightning port already?
Ahh.. the obligatory "why not just plug in the cable" post, which comes with every inductive charging product announcement.

But NO, inductive charging solutions are infinitely more convenient than plugging in cables.

Just ordered one. I simply want this on my nightstand to conveniently set it without having to adjust to center. Plus, I DO NOT want anything more than 7.5W charging overnight.
So just plug it into a slow brick. Of the brick can't do more than 5W, the puck won't either.

But if you were tasked with it, you’d take it as a challenge and make sure you market it to the best of your abilities.
Maybe not. I was once asked to write a landing page for a generic, lithium ion phone battery and declined.

I just said, 'Sorry, I don't think this offers anything new. I don't feel motivated to promote it'.

I work almost exclusively with B2B SaaS products and feel super-happy that I'm almost never asked to sell a crap product.

I've dipped into eCom a few times and got straight out. I don't want or need to talk-up generic tat.
