Amazing how when Apple doesn’t make the charger, nobody complains about the lack of a power brick.
Because some people think it's cool to hate on Apple and they work hard to spread their negativity on the forums. Unfortunately they create activity and ad views so they don't get ejected.

Insane, $1,200 for a phone which requires charging but it doesn't come with a charger, guess I'll stay with my 7+ 'til it breaks then go find something else.

All this stuff is portless or plugless charging, calling it "wireless" is quite a stretch. Especially now when the damn thing is actually magneticaly attached to the device.

If this is wireless then Magsafe enabled Macs also had wireless charging.

Bet this is the future for Apple still, and their way of avoiding USBC in iPhones forever - they'll just slowly slide the "wireless" tech up our collective... devices.

Ahh.. the obligatory "why not just plug in the cable" post, which comes with every inductive charging product announcement.

But NO, inductive charging solutions are infinitely more convenient than plugging in cables.
Ahh.. the obligatory "I don't agree with everyone" post, which comes with everything on the internet.
It does not even lie flat on its back side. How is that even more convenient?
Not to mention the fact that it is incapable of charging at the rate that the one Apple makes, let alone the lightning port.
So, this is like reinventing the wheel and make it into an octagon.

how is faster charging a key benefit of MagSafe? If you want faster charging, use a wire. If you’re in a rush to charge, who uses any wireless charging method?
Wired charging is obviously faster than wireless charging of any type, but one of the advertised benefits of MagSafe is its faster speed relative to wireless chargers of the type advertised here.

those that can’t see the convenience of wireless charging probably hasn’t used one before.
It's rubbish. Wireless charging is very inefficient and used to cause my iPhone X & Xs to get very warm, subsequently destroying the battery longevity of both devices in the process over time, requiring both to be serviced.

Went back to cabled fast-charging with my 11 Pro & now my 12 Pro and it's just the better more efficient method.

Wireless charging may be convenient for some, but it doesn't do the actual hardware a lot of good in the long-term.

There’s a difference between a benefit and a “key” benefit. If there wasn’t, the word “key” would be meaningless

Really we should just call it inductive vs conductive charging. Both involve wires (for now).

Of course there is. The speed improvement vs. normal wireless charging is one of the most important benefits, therefore "key." That's true whether or not the benefit matters to you, or whether you would achieve even better results from wired charging, for example.

Why is that ”one of the most important benefits?”
