Sensationalism wasn't the intention - we do try to minimize the length of article titles wherever we can.

Anyhow, point taken. Appended the title with 'on iPhone, iPad, and Mac' to avoid confusion.
Thanks, Tim. This is the clearest piece on the subject that I’ve seen anywhere so far. I still resent Apple making AI opt-out but the information still helps.

It is only a matter of time it grows to something like 20GB per devices. Along with 20GB for the OS and some other bits and pieces like cache we are looking at 50 - 60GB of storage gone before any images or songs are put on the iPhone.

Which means the future is 256GB baseline for iPhone. For people may not realise the iPhone SE still starts with 64GB.
You may be right. But, in all fairness, the current SE won’t run AI. We’ll have to see how much storage the SE that’s due in a few months will offer. And, as an aside, my wife’s M1 iPad Air has only 64GB of storage. So this is an issue for her.

Sorry MR, but this is one click baity misleading sensationalist title right there.
For people who missed it, the title used to say “Save up to 21 GB” while ‘justifying’ it by saying this number is for those who own an iPhone, iPad, and MacOS.

The title has since been changed to “Save 7 GB per device” which is considerably less click baity.

The only one I really care about is the "clean up" in photos, but I have an app that does a much better job of fixing photos than this, so it's all kind of pointless to me. Genmoji is fun but you can't really use them anywhere but Messages.
What app do you use?

It's called Retouch. You can do entire sections like the built in clean up, but you can also do lines. It finds the rest of the line and gets rid of it all. It can be touchy but works pretty well.

How much does it take up? In their support document, Apple originally said 4 GB I believe, but now they say 7 GB.

However, I don't know how much of that is just for installation and how much is the final amount needed after installation.

7GB of free space is required for installation

on my Mac it takes up 4.86 GB
