Just got a text from AppleStore, ipad 32 gb black shipped, expect delivery on or before 16th, tracked it and it shows it at UPS depot in Gateshead on 10th March:)

Mine changed on shipped. As the tracking says the iPad is near Leicester and being shipped by Syncreon.

Yeah it's ridiculos that the store can get them for the 16th but we get delayed to the 20th, considering cancelling and going to queue in Belfast!

I would but the reason I preordered was because I can't queue on Friday.

I'm ragin. I phoned them yesterday and I've just sent a long email today telling them that it is unacceptable.

They have delivered here on launch day before! Not sure what they are playing at.

Yeah i didn't really want to queue either but I sold my iPad 2 before the launch and boy do i miss it!

I have just spent the last 30 minutes on the phone to an Apple senior supervisor (how they love their titles :)), and basically they spouted the same lame excuse about the reason for the delay is because of the enormous volume of orders.

I told them that I didn't accept that as a valid reason, and it's odd how all of the delayed orders just happen to come from Scotland or Northern Ireland.

I also asked, if that was the case, how can an order placed at 1am be delayed by 5 days, yet orders placed 12+ hours later have now been shipped.

She couldn't answer that one, and agreed with me that if that was the case, it was unfair.

She also said, categorically, that no orders have been shipped yet...it was then that I realised she really didn't know what she was talking about.

The conversation finished with her saying she would look into it, but does not expect any change of delivery date.

I logged it as a formal complaint, and got a case ID, but don't expect anything to come of it.

Far from impressed with Apple...getting way to big for their boots, and have lost touch with their customers.

Sounds exactly the same as the conversation I had with Apple yesterday.

The girl had no clue what was going on and when I told her i expected an email explaining why this had happened she said that that wouldn't happen and just said "There must be some major reason why they aren't delivering on launch day".

I got no where and honestly, I don't think I'll get my iPad on launch day or even an explanation as to why this has happened.

Did you actually log it as a formal complaint and get a case ID?

At least this way, I believe they have to at least look into it and follow it up. I don't, however, expect any sort of acceptable resolution, but it just annoys me that they spout out this ridiculous excuse about over ordering, and expect people to blindly accept it, when we all know (on here at least) it is rubbish.

I sent a long email today to Apple and I told them I expect an email back today explaining why this happened. If their reply isn't good enough I'll log the formal complaint.

It's a joke. I've had iPhones, iPads, everything on launch day before! What has changed to the delivery process this year?!

What did you say and where you send it too? Maybe if enough of us do it they'll listen

She might TECHNICALLY be correct on UK orders shipping. They may all still be in the warehouses in piles, with their labels on, waiting to be picked up by the couriers. But the fact that they are sorting them today means that any claim of not being able to get you yours in time is ludicrous. Surely they could dispatch is a day or two early. Worst case you would get yours a day early. Would seem better than the several days late they are predicting.

They seem to be starting near Coventry in the Midlands, where in the past mine have often started in Cork. Seems they have changed distribution centres for some reason.

Apple support staff never know what they are talking about when it comes to delivery. They just don't have the information.

Remember that these are the people who were telling iPhone 4s preorderers that nobody would receive them until a few days after release date. To be honest, you may as well have just asked the postman this morning when it will arrive. He is as likely to know the answer.

Having said that, she was probably correct in that none have been dispatched yet. I know that people have had shipping emails but I bet nothing has actually moved yet.

i missed the pre-order 16th march delivery window, prob just as well as rang apple this morn and was told they wouldn't have the new ipad back in stock for online delivery till 31st march.

belfast apple store will obviously have the usual queues, so will just try an online reserve with argos on friday morn or stop at currys etc and see how it goes...
