They'll give you the response of we can cancel the order for you if you wish to queue at your local apple store probably :)

If they do get back to me, and that is the answer they give, they'll be getting a flea in their overly pretentious ear :)

For those who received delay email:

Is your order status still "processing items"?

Mine has not changed from when I first ordered.

Yes. Ordered first thing 8th. Got confirmation email. Then two days ago got email saying my order wouldn't be delivered until 21st but still says processing for delivery on 16th on their site. Confused.com!

Yep I'd say we're all in the same boat. I wouldn't hold any hope for getting a delivery on the 16th - I'm most likely going to cancel mine soon and get one from the Apple Store in Belfast on Friday. Would have loved a better explanation for why we're delayed but unlikely to ever know at this stage.

What time you thinking of heading down?

Probably around 8am - I have Friday off work so no issues there. Based on last year the queues seem to move pretty fast once the store opens (unlike an iPhone launch) so not going to waste too much time queuing before the store opens.
Also stock should be fine if you get down on Friday - again basing this on last year and the fact there are pre-orders this year.

My order is still in the processing stage too. You'd think if they had started the whole "preparing for shipment" at the weekend like our English friends then we might have got them on Friday...

Yup all they needed to do is ship ours 1 day before... Madness

I may go cue on Friday and sell my Pre Ordered one of eBay, because of demand and lack of shock you can normally score a wee profit...

What's the policy on returning an iPad bought instore?

I'm beginning to think Apple might push our delivery dates back even further and am considering going to queue at the Belfast store.

However, if my iPad shos up on Tuesday I'll want to keep that one as I asked for it to be engraved. So, can I return the one bought instore?

My "theory" on it is that's it down to the delivery companies not being able to physically handle all the deliveries on Friday. They have drawn the line with parts of Scotland and N. Ireland.

As far as I can tell from the other UK threads the iPads are all sitting in a delivery depot in England at the moment - right?

Interested if anyone else has other info on why we're delayed.

I just had the most frustrating and pointless coversation with one of Apple's Online Store Executive Relations team...

He telephoned me replying to my e-mail I sent to Tim Cook, but basically he said absolutely nothing on the phone, and every question I asked, his reply was "I cannot comment on that"...and I mean every question.

I asked why he was calling me, if that was going to be his answer to everything I ask, and he said to resolve my problem, so I told him that is difficult when you won't even answer my questions.

He did appologise for any inconvenience though (at least 10 times during the conversation).

What a waste of 15 minutes of my life

This is my point.

The majority of iPad are now sitting in depots across England. Why are they not able to get them to our depots in NI and Scotland?!

They could have sent them to the depots last week and not worry about us getting ours early. I honestly have no idea what has happened. The uk is small. If they can manage to get iPads all over the USA, how can the not get them to northern Ireland by Friday?

My theory, which I have posted elsewhere is as follows:

These emails were sent out around Friday lunchtime, and people started reporting their status changing to preparing for shipment a few hours later.

I suspect that, before they actually started labelling up peoples shipments they do a quick check to find ensure that they number to be shipped agrees with the number they actually have.

On this occasion they probably found a discrepancy. It is only on certain models, which is why people in Scotland who ordered 4g models haven't been delayed.

All fine, and sensible so far. However, what they then appear to have done is decide who to delay based on geographical location rather than time ordered. There may have been some logic in that, as perhaps it works out easier for the couriers to do that, but for those of you who ordered in plenty of time, it certainly isn't fair. What they should have done was bump the last people to have ordered before the cutoff.

If it was purely a courier issue then surely they would only be delaying them by a day. It was surely far to early to know of a three day courier delay, when you can get people to ship them next day. They must be waiting for new stock.

It's just a guess, but it's the only thing I can think of which makes sense.

I apparently have had 3 missed calls from apple today my sister answered them I wasn't in, so goodness knows what that is about.

I sent my iPad 2 to England by post, it was delivered there in less than 24 hours. It can't be that difficult to get them to us for Friday
