Notability vs Notes Plus anyone?
I have been using NotesPlus extensively pre-Apple pencil, comparing occasionally with Notability, and now again with Apple Pencil. In terms of pure note-taking, there is no real competition, Notesplus wins hands-down. The handwriting is nicer, it has conversion to text, and many other advanced features that Notability lacks. The only advantage Notability has, and this is a big one, is that it has a Mac app, synced through iCloud.

NotesPlus is the best that I have tried FOR ME. When I first got my 12.9 iPP and pencil in December, I tried and downloaded and paid for heaps of note taking apps like Notabilty, Goodnotes etc. After research and using them all, I settled with NotesPlus. I then spent some time loading/organising up all the notebooks I wanted and when the school year started this year in February (am in Australia), I put the app to use. I use it multiple times a day when planning and organising my day and of course use the iPP in my classroom for viewing content and using apps with my students. I love the fact it saves automatically to Dropbox and if my iPP is currently being used to display information for my students, I just take a quick look at the Dropbox app on my iPhone and I can look up the latest saved version of a notebook in Notes Plus to see what I am teaching next.

Lag? I use it every single day and there is no lag for me.

I have a question about noteplus.
I love notability because when you use the pencil, your finger no longer makes lines. So you can use a single finger to scroll pages. Other apps you have to use 2 fingers. Does notesplus have this functionality?

I have a quick question about Dropbox. Do you store all your photo's on there? My free Dropbox is full of photo's that take up a ton of space. I presume you can alter the settings so that it doesn't store your photos and just stores documents?

As I watched the Livestream of the game The Division I also took notes about the new features. I work at GameStar in germany, so this was really helpful. Sorry for my bad handwriting. :p

This is what is stopping me from really considering the switch. I very much like being able to move back and forth between the Macbook and the iPad.

Downloaded Notes Plus. I'm a little disappointed that you can't change the colour of the paper? I usually use yellow and do so in Noteability. Also, how does Notes Plus help with your handwriting?

It's just the smoothing algorithm it uses. All apps do this in one way or another, but the Notes Plus implementation is a bit more aggressive than others.

When you open a new notebook, there are a number of template/style options to choose from, including paper color.

First impressions of Notes Plus is that yes, it's good but it's a but err, glitchy. Every now and then it misses out letters in the middle of a word? It's like I was writing Corresponding and it came out "Corres ding".

The latest update to Notes Plus introduced an issue where quickly writing some smaller letters, such as: "a", "e", "p" resulted in the letter disappearing as it was being written. I my experience, I only found this to be a problem with the 9.7 iPP in the portrait orientation. No problem in landscape, or on the larger iPP. The developers are aware of the problem, and working on a fix.

Ah, that explains it. I was writing in portrait and in a 9.7 Pro. Thanks.

No it doesn't, which rules it out for me as I'm so used to scrolling with one finger in every other app. I'm sticking with GoodNotes, at least for now.

Notes Plus does allow for one finger scrolling along the right edge of the page, and this can be changed to the left side in app settings.

In what way?

i too find Notability rudimentary, or 'basic' as i prefer to say, next to Notes Plus. it certainly hasnt half the snazzy features.

This is why i much prefer Notability and it's 'does-what-it-says-on-the-tin' functionality. for me personally i dont like apps with a zillion features that take me an age to master and i never even use. Notabiliy's hand writing is much nicer in my opinion than NotesPlus. it's operation and workflow is much faster and easier to use imo. the Pencil to screen speed is much much faster.

But horses for courses. we all like different things. again, comparing apples to oranges. what works for you of course :)

I agree. The important thing, to me, about both Notability and Goodnotes is that they have managed to limit the feature creep that infests most software over time. They have done a great job of keeping the focus of the apps tight to 'paper plus' and nothing more.

I love GoodNotes, but with they way I keep notes, the Org UI is too much to overcome. Really love the app once in it though...

Tried Note Plus and as with other apps, pros and cons. Without the single finger scroll support, it's doa for me, but seems like an okay app. Not sure I'd say it's better than Notability though. I'm not finding the depth of features that others talk about, seems like it can do a few things Notability can't and vice versa.

Still think Notability / GoodNotes is the top 1/2 (pick your order).

And crap in comparison. Notes Plus is way better, IMO. Wasted money trying Notability and a whole slew of them.

Can you tell me how, in Notes Plus, to crop an image once inserted onto the page? I'm trying to figure it out but am not seeing the option.
