soon to be seen: some iPhone users with the models below the iPhone 7 have stated experiencing a mysterious bug that disabled their devices with only Apple Store app working and offering to order an iPhone 7/7 Plus lol

Until I started reading this forum, I was a very strong and avid Apple supporter. But you guys have made me realize just how bad Apple has become. Apple simply isn't worthy of taking any more of our money and we should support other computer manufacturers. Anyone but Apple. I have now become an affirmed Apple basher, just like most of you. I'm not sure I can think of anything good apple has done in the last year. Things no longer just work and Steve is gone. If only Gates would come back to Microsoft, all would be fine again. In fact my iMac just crashed. Not good at all. Macs should just work, plain and simple.

Apple's solution... Buy a new just like you have to buy a new computer to run iOS 10

Here is what you need to do to fix it.

Go to the Settings > iTunes Store > Location. Change location to a different country and then change right back to "United States." That fixed it for me this morning, however, some apps (HBO and ShowTime) are gone. Hopefully, Apple issues a fix shortly.

Good luck!

The "fix" is likely the complete bricking of the device so you are compelled to buy the absolutely crappy Gen 4.

Why is it crappy? I have, literally ZERO need for 4K. TVs are still settling down on features for 4K (HDR, etc) so it's not even worth it to "invest". By the time 4K is actually useful to most there will be a much newer device out, etc etc etc.

Well, earlier today, My ATV2 was working correctly but my power is out at my house currently so I can't confirm if that is still the case. I love my ATV2, it does everything I need it to so I see no reason to upgrade to a current model until this one quits working.

I've literally spent hours last night trying to figure out a fix for this, but nothing I did worked. The good thing is that it looks like the issue has resolved itself this morning.

I was just going to come in and say, it's your DNS and I selected the 2.4 GHz band on my AirPort instead of my 5 GHz, because for some reason, when I was on the 5 GHz, the whole box would reset, all the DNS setting everything, the name etc, I was wondering if it had anything to do with the new iCloud syncing but IDK. But things are working fine now, DNS settings are assigned, and 2.4 GHz is working fine, but 2.4 GHz is just for me I think because I have the 802.11ac Airport and that thing is wonky...

I used to remember when Microsoft used to release software like this :).... not like apple knows thier own hardware inside and out.... maybe the QA team are on holidays

I really like mine, it's way too expansive for what it is, but works well with a plex server.

Had this happen to me a few days ago. Just went into Settings and restarted it. Problem disappeared.

*Tinfoil hat on*

This is Apple "gently" nudging 2nd and 3rd gen owners to upgrade.

You sure your iMac crashed because of OS X, not because of You? It's ok to mock the AppleTV, Apple does a good job mocking it by barely giving it a heartbeat or any updates. It's also ok to mock the new MacBook Pro as it's not a "Pro" machine or even new hardware. It's even ok to mock the Mac Pro aka the Trashcan since Apple doesn't support it either. hmm, after re-evaluating my comment I guess Apple is just a phone company now...

AppleTVs have an unfixed bug related to WiFi in the 5GHz band. Set your WiFi base station to a dedicated channel instead of letting it 'auto-select'. This will prevent the ATV (particularly ATV4) from suddenly going into "la la land". The higher the channel, usually the better.

Having owned every Apple TV since Gen two there's no way you'd get me to give up my Gen fours for a three or two.

Is this Apple now, release stripped down products and remove perfectly fine existing features...

Imagine what would happen if Apple does manufacture a car!? "The 2019 version of the iCar has new autonomous braking...but we removed the brake pedal...an adapter is available though!"

I know you're going for hyperbole here but I would be perfectly fine with that. A truly autonomous car won't need to take up space with manual controls. I'd rather have that space back for in cabin comforts or slimming the entire design and reducing weight to obtain better efficiency. In that sense maybe this is a great analogy for what Apple does and I approve.
