Just to state the obvious but... a field in a database doesn't necessarily equal an actual person ending up collecting money. Leaving alone data simply being wrong or not up to date, the field might be set that way for other reasons.
As example, I had to deal with a database of persons where somebody did a report that turned out to be very wrong since a fair number of the "persons" in the database were not real persons but other kind of entities which were just crammed in the same table to serve different purposes. Failing to account for that led to nonsensical results in the report...
