Why worry about this issue when we have a 36 trillion dollar debt? We are prioritizing our own problems first. I enjoyed reading many of the comments showing TDS.

Don't forget excessive social security benefits, medicare and medicaid benefits and all of the other pork the fed has taken on.
Any proof? Musk cut back many of his claims about social security like dead people getting checks, vast fraud look up how much his projected savings have shrank. Taking care of people isn’t pork. Bridges to nowhere, several multibillion dollar weapon systems that don’t work and are scrapped early, corporate welfare, paying dairy farmers to dump milk etc. That’s pork.
Trump ran up the largest deficit in history his first term, he’s on track to beat it this time around.Reread or read for The first time, the Preamble to the Constitution US was founded on a socialism style framework.

Because Trump isn’t shrinking the debt, quite the opposite, look at spending bills Congress is working on now. Then look at the deficit projections if they pass. Or just keep drooling while watching Fox or Steve Bannon type channels. That’s common these days.

Big tech does, sure. But the better question is why should they? CVEs are something that every company with an in-house software team should be aware of, and handling. They help keep the bad guys out at night. Not just big tech, but little tech and everything in-between. Trust me when I say that the NSA and Armed Forces are making use of this database too (both for good and evil).

The amount of money being spent is minuscule compared to the impact this has on the industry.

When people complain that the federal government is throwing away all of its soft power, this is what they mean.

Edit: Perhaps I'm not being forceful enough. This is the computer version of getting rid of paid firefighters because an individual can buy private firefighting insurance. At some point we as a society decided that it was better for everyone if firefighters would respond to all fires, and not just some of them. The CVE list was essentially the digital version of fire fighters.
Thanks for that. I’m not saying it’s a good thing that this has ended, just being pragmatic.

Because vulnerable software is a serious problem for the government, as the largest purchaser of commercial software. Prioritizing this is a prime example of “prioritizing our own problems first.” But it makes sense for other reasons too, as has been shown.

This feels like one of those "Whoops" things that should get rolled back. Hopefully. I agree 100%, computer security is absolutely critical for national security. Anyone who disagrees understands neither.

Ah yes... only believe when it comes from the party you like. What would you consider a good source of "truth", genuinely curious.

Interesting that you

1. won't answer but instead try to turn the question to me
2. assume that I support one party and only accept facts from that one point of view

When you have a $2T ANNUAL deficit everything is on the table to be cut.

Should be easy enough to get the private sector to find what is essentially an online database. Heck Mitre should have covered the site for a while.

the IRS has already said that they will lose at least half a trillion dollars because of DOGE's "efficiency" actions (link)

DOGE will be lucky to save 10% of that amount, but somehow it doesn't seem to bother any "efficiency" aficionados 🤷‍♂️

Well it helps when trying to layout reply's... if I or anyone else would present, you will buck the items being discussed because you don't like or trust the source. So, yes I won't answer the question and turn it back to you, as I genuinely want to know where would the facts have to come from in order for you to believe them. And yes, I did mention party, because depending on who sits in the WH, will dictate who is questioning the facts being presented. I am going to assume you support one party or the other, unless of you course you support none of the parties, which is always a possibility. But somehow, based on the tone, I don't think that is the case.

There is so much waste, fraud, and corruption in the US government that cutting it quickly takes broad strokes. Sure some useful things will get and have been cut, but they will either survive on their own or get brought back.
No it doesn’t. When lives are on the line, what exactly is the urgency in not doing things with a scalpel?

Our leaders have been claiming for decades they'd cut the size of government and it only get bigger. Cut as much as you can, then cut some more. Add back later if need be.

This is a perfect example of something the taxpayers do not need to pay for. Let see if it doesn't get covered by the private sector in no time.

Guess all those techies working for Elon Musk are so stupid they are happy to compromise their own internet security. Good thing we all know better.
The taxpayers benefit from having this program. Not everything had to be profit driven.

again, you make a lot of assumptions, most of which are hilariously wrong, but I'd probably be just as wrong about if I started guessing :)

I wasn't going to humor you by answering since you won't answer, but what the heck, today I want to:

Who do I support? Frankly, I abhor both parties in the US, but for different reasons:

Republicans are fascists in disguise, always invoking "norms" while seeking to undermine them for their own power. The only change they seem to want is more power for them.

Democrats, meanwhile, seem completely paid for by corporate interests and unable to bring about change even if they wanted to. I mean, look at the constitutional meltdown of the moment and the democrats complete and utter inability to do anything meaningful about it.

Both are evil parties that put their own interests above those of the citizens. The democrats are corrupt, while the Republican Party is outright fascist.

Where do I get my sources? I make it a point to read widely from many sources and I like to check video footage with what was reported.

Court proceedings are also a fascinating source of information, as officials (particularly Trump administration officials) tend to give wildly different accounts of events when they are under oath.

Another great source is snopes.com

Agree with that inability. I hope they’ll get their act together and fight this road to fascism. That will however be difficult with Trump having won the elections like he did and his fanatic, blind and agressive followers

If true…where’s the solution?
By the way…I think the Republican Party is at least much more corrupt; that’s the place where only money, business and “deals” count. People don’t matter in a fascist system…money, power, egos and stupidity rules.

Yeah I agree with your assertion that the Republican Party is just as corrupt. I knowingly left it out to make it clear that I abhor both parties and am not dissing on one party in particular (although in my view, the Republican Party is clearly the more urgent and sinister threat to peace and freedom both in the US and around the world)

As for the solution, I hope that this current crisis is the thing that finally wakes people up to either create a new, more honest and authentic democratic Party or that a new party emerges from the ashes of these two sick, corrupt parties.

What systemic fraud is there? I get people don’t like some things that money is spent on or think the government pays too much for things but where is the systemic fraud?

There are many, but one is paying illegals twice the amount social security that people who have lived in the US and paid into social security for decades. Giving illegals free Medicaid and housing. Allowing illegals to fly without going through security. The list is really long for anyone that does not have their head in the sand.

Democrats never used a scalpel to shutdown pipelines, or anything else they disagreed with.

Use a scalpel and it will never get done.

When a person has gangrene in a leg you cut off the leg, you don't use a scalpel.

It sounds good, but it's not true
