I am excited every year because this is the time I get to order and have new toys. Now do I care if others are just as excited? NO I DONT.

Maybe because they can't buy it... If you can't buy it then you're not excited for anything really. Haha

Remember the excitement? "New iPhone" OMG!!!
What has changed? Was it Steve? What's different?

I find it amusing to wait a year for a HUGE announcement - a slightly betterer camera - used to be
an official Apple line - more megapixels is not good, now it's good apparently and a faster processor
(does anyone care about the processor inside your phone?).

I don't know about you, but it all feels like an end of an era.

Well it is mostly due to websites like this that leak every single detail of the phone before it is announced. How do you expect to be as excited as years past when you already know whats happening?

People seem more cynical and do not share the group excitement of a new iPhone like I remembered.
Or maybe it's that people feel that Apple no longer listens so much to customer wishes as they used to or think that Apple should listen more.
Previous updates brought benefits to more people in their daily live like the introduction of 3G, then HSDPA, then LTE on some bands and then a great number of more LTE bands. And this year? LTE Advanced. That maybe nice to have but is it a real benefit for the average user?

Look at some of the wishes for this year: increased baseline storage, updated 4 inch model and lager battery or rather longer battery life.
The first two didn't happen. The battery got reduced instead, but there is "hope" that a new version of iOS and new components will deliver the same battery life.
3D Touch may bring new features but some might asked, if the same might not have been achieved with a longer press on the screen instead of a "deeper" press. And that longer press could have been easily brought to older iPhones.

And if your living outside the US some new features are not supported. Wifi calling or take Apple Pay. As far as I know both are not supported in Germany and will probably not in the next two years.

And there might be people who see the reduced price of 64GB and 128GB as an increase for the 16GB version.
For people outside the US the price might have increased. In Germany the baseline 6S is now 6% more expensive compared to the baseline 6 last year.

The Apple Watch makes perfect sense to me although I didn't fully realize it until I bought it. With the watch I always get all my notifications on the watch with the volume muted on both the iphone and watch and with vibrations always off on the phone. I get all my notifications via the taptic engine on the watch. So now I never have to adjust the phone or watch just because I'm in a meeting or in the public. I no longer have to endure the loud vibrations of the phone while in a meeting. I no longer have to turn my phone off because of it.

This is a killer feature for the Apple Watch, at least for me.

I totally agree. Also, I use it to track/monitor calories and steps without an additional gadget (fitbit etc.) And I use it to control my music (fast-forward tracks etc.) without pulling the phone out of my pocket when I'm exercising. I've always worn a watch everyday anyway.

Am I excited?...yes I am..but not as excited about the Iphone this year as in previous years...but it may be because I'm getting older and these gadgets just don't excite me as much as they used to...LOL

I see everyone saying that this is because Apple products are not new anymore. You also have to factor in that non Apple devices have significantly improved and in many ways surpassed. Smartphones, tablets, laptops, TV companions, etc all have arguably superior counterparts. Some of the lack of excitement stems from not seeing anything superior anymore about their devices. Still excellent, just not incredible like when they were first released.

Ill be honest - the one thing keeping me on iPhones is iMessage. The ability to use my mac laptop and desktop to text is astoundingly convenient for me.

A lot of it has to do with the fact that we knew every piece of the announcement weeks to months in advance. In unsure this has ever happened to this extent. The keynote for me was a waste of time (didn't actually watch most of it just read about it). Nothing was said that we didn't already "know" (quotes because nothing was confirmed until, well. apple confirmed it).

this. everything is leaked these days. only wow moment as far as iphones was the upgrade program.

only thing i need to know during the announcement is release date.

I think part of it was at one time there was no android. So anything Apple came out with phone wise made ppl ooh and ahh! And there was a time that each time they came out with a new phone it was a game changer.

Nowadays Apple seems content with not being the first on the market with a phone with a specific feature. So they let others do that. They take those features and implement them to the iPhone. And refine them. So it's just tiny incremental changes now. So no, most ppl will not care about that. Last year was an exception simply cause they finally increased the size of the screen. Otherwise, it's been one small change each time.

I wasn't excited but after I received the order confirmation the excitement has grown.

I'm coming from android and have never had an iphone so i'm pretty excited. My LG G3 is so laggy and unrepsonsive at times i will be glad to be rid of it.

I gave up hoping that Apple would satisfy all my wishes with the iPhone. I know I am not going to get a notification LED. I think we are getting to the point where the phone makers are no longer able to get that WOW factor unless some new technology comes around. The 3D touch and other features are hardly ground breaking.

So true, I am also upgrading from a 5 also and this is only my 3rd smart phone ever. I had a first generation 4GB iPhone until I got the 5. I like to get as much use out of my products as I can, I drive a 2003 truck and hope it last me to 2023! I upgraded because my 5 has issues and for both the bigger screen (tired of squinting!) and the camera. As a professional photographer the megapixel is high enough for me to syndicate the images with my stock agent. So it is easy for me to justify and I am very excited about this new one.

The funny thing is, I loved my first gen and only upgraded cause they had stopped updating it and it was literally becoming a relic. Jimmy Kimmel did a funny bit where they showed people a 1st generation iPhone and told them it was the latest version and they all gave it stellar reviews. Most people are sheep and will just jump in and follow the crowd in fear of being left out.

If you want the newest and latest an can afford it well good for you, nothing wrong with that. However there is a big value in getting your monies worth and keeping your priorities straight.

Remember the excitement? "New iPhone" OMG!!!

My iPhone is not even a year old, and so what does the iPhone 6s have to offer me, slightly faster processor, better camera and force touch. I have to say none of those features cause me to jump up and down. They're nice but they're not earth shakingly awesome

Because any time someone like myself posts excitement about our new phone we get ridiculed and trolled. These forums might claim to be pro apple but the minute you post about your excitement about your new apple product these forums are brutal against you.

That is why no one posts their excitement. We either get ridiculed or it gets ignored into the blackhole to the 5th page. Why bother?

Of course we're excited about our new phone!

It's because we know everything about the phone months before it is announced on stage.

Early on in the iPhone's life people weren't 100% sure as to what was coming. For me the most exciting iPhone announcement was the iPhone 4. Everything was pretty secretive and there was a lot of speculation until that person left it on top of a bar.

I'd even wager Apple changed the name to 3D touch last minute instead of force touch just to announce something new.

Gone are the days of 'one more thing'

I am coming back to iPhone after being with Android for a few years. My last iPhone was the 4s and while I loved it, it died a horribly death and left me bitter. I got the Note 3, which was one of the best phones I have ever had, so I continued on to the Note 4 when the time came. Unfortunately, my experience with this phone has been horrible and I have so many issues that it is rendered unusable quite often. I am elated with the thought of this new iPhone. Not only will it be awesome to have a functional phone again, but I think it sounds like a really amazing device. It doesn't seem that many share my feelings, but I don't care. I cannot wait to get it and am just as excited about this phone as I was about each previous iteration of the iPhone I have had.

That's not true. People aren't posting because there isn't a lot to be excited about. It's not their first rodeo, just another iPhone. Plus with all the leaks we already knew everything.

The biggest surprise to come out of the event was seeing a Microsoft employee standing on stage, demoing office, and wearing an Apple Watch!

Like, who saw that one coming? :)

It may have something to do with Apple's almost complete inability to keep any secrets anymore. All the enthusiasts and fans who would be the ones buzzing with anticipation in past years, now get their dope straight from Ming Chi Ko. They don't need Phil Schiller and cohorts prancing on stage talking about their mesmerizing innovations anymore. I think Ming could just put up an Apple announcement party a month before Apple; and she could still nail everything about hardware right.

In a sense I think this has something to do with it. The phone has matured, everyone who wants an iPhone has one, now the question is what does the iPhone 6s has to offer that the prior models do not do. There's the rub.

Last year, there was a huge amount of excitement and anticipation, because of the plus. Something major that was not done before by Apple. Now with the S model, its a bit old hat.

Like I said, the features added are nice, and its a small measure improvement but not enough for me to wake up at 3:01am and order the phone for nearly a 1,000 dollars (AC+ and tax push it into the 900 dollar range), not when I'm holding onto a iPhone 6+ that works perfectly fine.

Not to split hairs, but this website doesn't leak anything. They just report what has been leaked. But I do agree that knowing what's coming does take some of the excitement out of it.

There are many good and interesting points made in this thread. However I AM very excited both about my 2015 Rose Gold IPhone 6SPlus!

I'm still excited about the new iPhones because I seem able to see the coolness of the new features many seem so quick to dismiss. I DO care and am excited about the new A9 processor. It's impressive.

It's an art form to harness that much power into ever greater efficiency and flexibility. I'm just an average housewife but I have been looking at computer processors and circuit boards since the first computers came into the home when I was a teenager. I have seen the evolution of technology and it never ceases to awe and impress me. To see that the power that once was housed in entire buildings can now be held in my hand is...wow. And every year it improves just when you had started to wonder how could it possibly get any better than this!

I'm going to love Live photos. Really as a a great-aunt, aunt and mom, I know I'm going to get all choked up every time a picture of the children comes to life for a second. And as a Harry Potter fan I think it's just the coolest thing. It doesn't bother me that HTC Zoe had it first. It means more if Apple has done it better. And in a way that can be shared with friends and family.

I see the Apple Watch as having enormous potential. I'm sad others don't.

As someone who spends a lot of time in hospitals with two elderly in laws and two cancer and arthritis stricken parents, I was blown away by the iPad Pro and Apple Watch medical-related demos.

But I do think part of the problem is that while Apple is still demonstrating they have the vision, they don't have anyone with the charisma to adequately articulate it. Craig F comes the closest to having Steve's energy up on stage. When others throw around the superlatives Steve used to use but in droning faux earnest tones it seems forced and tired. Tim isn't horrible. But he's a low key kind of guy. You need energy to share a vision. Like Steve had and John Legere has.

And they ceded the floor to too many non awe inspiring demos. My 10 year old snapped that she enjoys playing Crossy Road but watching two guys play it on Apple TV was boring and she wanted to see what Mom's new iPhone was going to be like. And nobody wanted to watch the home shopping demo.

I'm not saying there aren't missteps in the products themselves. There are and that's a problem because they do overshadow the cool innovations and improvements. Apple is uncompromising about not moving the 6S specs up to better match those on the Plus. They are either unaware or ignore those of us who want the models to be differentiated based on dimensions alone and don't want a smaller model to be the lesser model in any way.

They ignore what we customers think should be obvious: there should be at least one other case color with black bezels. 32 GB should take the place of 16 as the base. That sort of thing steals the thunder.

You're right!!! The days of excitement
Are over until Apple comes up with a bezeless screen or maybe a dual screen iPhone

While 6s sales will be good they won't be better than last year. Apple still thinking whatever they throw at us we'll buy it
I would have preferred to see a bezeless iPhone rather than 3 D force touch.
