Remember the excitement? "New iPhone" OMG!!!
What has changed? Was it Steve? What's different?

I find it amusing to wait a year for a HUGE announcement - a slightly betterer camera - used to be
an official Apple line - more megapixels is not good
, now it's good apparently and a faster processor
(does anyone care about the processor inside your phone?).

I don't know about you, but it all feels like an end of an era.

Are you intentionally disregarding everything Apple has ever explained in regards to Megapixels? Do you just tune out after they list the number?

To me, it's just a phone. But it's interesting what the new toys has to offer. Last year I stood in line to get the 6 Plus, this year I placed a reservation for pick up. Also, I could be wrong but since they didn't do line ups for the Apple watch launch, i'm pretty sure they might not do this time for the iPhone 6S/6S Plus. Because when you go to the pre-order for pick up or placed a reservation through the iPhone UP, I assume that the inventory is what the apple store already has. Unless Apple gets more shipments in on Monday to stock up.

I could be wrong on this but from what they did with Apple watch, they might do the same for the iPhones as well.

I might be wrong but I seem to recall on this forum someone reported Angela was backing off her anti-line stance for the iPhones at least. I wonder how bad the scalping problem will be. It doesn't look like supply is a problem this time, except maybe for rose gold.

The reason people are not excited because the whole damn phone leaked before release, all the rumors were true, every single one, we knew what was coming so nothing was a surprise to us, comparing to iphone 3G or 4G the rumors mostly were false so after the announcment everyone was surprised/excited and had unanswered questions.

You guys don't feel the excitement because you upgrade every year. I'm upgrading from an iPhone 5 and I'm super excited. I have skipped so many technological advancements: Touch ID, Apple pay, big screen, ois, new design, plus the speed and new tech on the new S model. I'm upgrading from a 16gb 5 to a 128gb 6s+. I'm gonna be smiling for weeks.

Want the excitement back, try skipping a year or two. You'll be saving money also. Someone talked about society and you can see it's the same with everything else in life. People want to buy new cars after 2-3 years instead of 5-10. My Honda Accord is 13 years old. The new cars seem like space ships. But I'm still not buying a new one. I'm waiting for my car to die. Still no signs of that and I've had no car payments in a long time. When it's time to buy a car, I'm gonna be a little kid in a candy store plus I will have saved enough money not to take a huge loan or at all.

This society buys what it can't afford because they want it now. I'm not saying that they can't afford iPhones, but that is just the gateway. Next, student loans, cars, mortgages.

Exactly this. I think we all sometimes get carried away with all the hypes, but keeping a healthy perspective is important. Im upgrading from an iPhone 5 as well, and literally cannot wait to get my hands on the new iPhone.

Probably the people. I know whenever new gadgets come out I'm excited as always. New products in new categories are always more exciting than refreshes though.

We all seem to care what everyone else thinks. I just buy a phone when I need it, upgrading every year has always been I look forward to. As long as I'm content with my purchase I don't make a habit of jumping up and down in the street.

I preordered on Saturday morning. But I'm not very excited about the phone. I just don't know if I will notice a difference in using it day to day. It will depend on how i incorporate the force touch into the usage. It will be intersting to see if the extra ram and better CPU is noticeable in real world usage.

Ill be honest - the one thing keeping me on iPhones is iMessage. The ability to use my mac laptop and desktop to text is astoundingly convenient for me.

Yes, iMessage, because everybody I work with has an iPhone and my grandfathered AT&T unlimited data plan.
Nothing else.

Like people have said, the iPhone was revolutionary. Overwhelming majority of people had never even had a smartphone or saw need for one before the iPhone. The original iPhone was great, but we needed so many more features which Apple took its time implementing. We're now at the point where everything else seems to be gravy. The new "I can't live without feature" hasn't been invented yet. 3d touch is nice, but I suspect more people would have been wowed if the phone was simply redesigned this year.

Lastly, I think you need to remember that the iPhone was "exclusive" beforehand. In the beginning years only available first in the US, with UK, Germany, France following. Each one had exclusive carriers. Now, it's virtually available worldwide within a few months. I suspect it's like Starbucks. When the first one opened up in your city, it was fascinating. Now they're on every corner and you're like "yea, I love my Starbucks...but oh okay." Nonetheless, there will still be long lines and wait times. I think Apple underestimated the desire for iPhone 6s Plus v. 6s. If that's the case, that could be the reason for phones not getting snapped up as quickly. Apple has grown to have so many options too. I think in the future most people will prefer the Plus.

the 2GB RAM wasn't leaked. It took a member on here to cleverly reveal the detail earlier today.

I think it's the entire tech industry right now. Nothing groundbreaking has come out in a while. The last feature that REALLY compelled me was Touch ID. 3D touch, in my opinion, isn't at the same level Touch ID was in 2013. I think that tech has reached a point where this is as good as it gets until something truly groundbreaking comes out. Basically I think we are at a plateau right now.

Pretty sure its the first step towards getting rid of the home button all together. Soon the screen will be able to detect fingerprints.

I'm really excited to receive my new iPhone 6S - I'm coming from a 5S, and, whilst I have loved it over the past two years, I am looking forward to having a new iPhone and the new hardware. My phone's battery is shocking these days, so will be nice to have a fresh new battery in a fresh new phone.

I think last year was an issue with scalping particularly because China wasn't included in the initial launch day. But this year is different because China is included in the 9/25 launch so no need for scalpers to come to the U.S and take it all right?

So I suppose that was for the apple watch only that Angela was anti-line with? I guess we'll find out.

The reality distortion field worked on all of us, it built Apple, but it can't maintain itself without Steve.

I think, especially in my case, the issue isn't the product but the delay in availability.
iPad mini 4, order today and we will ship it soon.
iPad pro, yeah here's the latest, in a couple months.
iPhone, here it is but its not available yet but preorder and wait a
2+ weeks.
Same ole same ole.

Haha. Yeah, sure. That's it. /s

Well sorry if I get a bit pretentious but...

He had a way of suppressing cynicism which rubbed off on the company and customers. I genuinely believe without his guidance they're just going through the motions with a vague idea of continuing his philosophy.

But, as the market changes and technology changes, you're left with a landscape he'd never tried his hand at, so knowing how to apply the classic Apple philosophy as the years roll on becomes increasingly difficult, and internal decisions become less clear.

Don't get me wrong, it's a step forward in the right direction. I am all for getting rid of the home button and reducing the bezels. I just don't think it has the same effect that Touch ID was. But that's just me :) to some, 3D touch could be the coolest features and worthy of an upgrade.

Lol. End of an era. That's funny.

I thought the hype behind the iPhone 6 was pretty huge. The larger screens went a long way to get publicity. This is a spec bump update, so there's not a lot of sexiness there. I imagine the 7, with an assumed redesign, will have a similar level of hype and fanfare as the 6.

I think when having a new iPhone every year was a "big" deal event type thing. This was done to further the hype. It would be "iPhone day". With ppl lining up just for a chance at one. Now everyone has one. And rarely do they care that much about the new one.

But getting back to the big annual iPhone launch day. I don't even think that is a big deal any longer. Especially with most ppl ordering their phone and waiting for it to be shipped. (Instead of lining the stores)

I guess what I am saying is the optics of holding all the phones and releasing all of them on the same day are not a big deal any more. Kind of wish they drop that for simply shipping the phone as the ppl order. Without the wait.
