no, i am correct in what i am saying, my iphone does not have the antenna issue, my neighbour did on his and we tested each of them in the same place, in various places of good and poor signal, and his would drop, mine wouldn't. my iPhone had the antenna issue, i could replicate it many times, i did the 'reset network settings' fix, since then i've not been able to replicate it. so you were pretty narrowminded in your response.

He is probably on 4.0.1 and you are on 4.0.0, your bars are full of more AT&T created BS(I know ur in the UK but their cause of more bars in more places bs).

If both on 4.0.1 or .2 then you are not human.

Oh my goodness everyone! A network reset fixes the entire antenna issue! Stop the presses. Notify Apple! Stop sending out the bumpers!

If a network reset fixes the problem, there wouldn't be this much commotion over it. Apple would have just said "It's a software issue, we're working on a fix. Until then, reset network settings and enjoy your new iPhone."

I'm positive that you can't fix the design flaw of the iPhone 4 by resetting the network settings.

Nice try though... really.

i'm not the only one - https://www.macrumors.com/2010/07/0...nce-problems-with-iphone-4-proximity-sensors/

so get over yourself, just cos you think you're all knowing, doesn't mean you're right.

I'm not all knowing. Does this "fix" work for everyone?

Edit: I saw your link, but Proximity Sensor does not equal Reception. The proximity sensor tells the screen to shut off during a call if you put it up to your face.

Edit #2: I tried your Reset Network idea anyway and it made no difference. So I guess it's not a real fix.

As it says, some people said it worked for them. It works for me. I never said it worked for everyone. I said not everyone has the issue.

You obviously did not read the link properly. The article is about proximity sensor issue. Not reception!

I'm quoting what you originally wrote because apparently you don't understand why I'm confused. Read the bold parts.

You gave me a link to issues with the proximity sensor, not reception as you original stated.

No duh! The article is about the proximity sensor, but you said that resetting the network settings fixed your reception issue. *See above in bold for more detail*

THAT'S why I'm confused. You're flip-flopping on me.

oh i see your confusion, my bad, that first one you quoted where bold shouldn't have said antenna issue, should have said proximity sensor issue. i was a bit tired when i wrote that, apologies for the typo.

My iPhone 4 has Reception issues, dropped calls (about 75% of all calls are dropped in the first 2 to 4 minutes), and the proximity sensor issue. BUT my pictures are clear! :D

I hope they rev the iPhone 4, I really do. If they do I'll complain until they replace it for me. If they don't, I guess I deal with it until the next iPhone.

Just tried the "Reset Network Settings" spoken about previously in this thread and it seems to have fixed my Proximity sensor issue. If it returns, then I'll just do it again, not a big deal. If it can be fixed like this, it means it is a software glitch (I thought that is what Apple said) and can be fixed in an update (which they did say). So that, to me, is a non-issue. The reception and dropped calls is actually a minor annoyance for me since 95% of the time I'm using my phone for the internet / texting and not the phone. But it would be nice to have that fixed as well.

the 'reset network settings' has worked for me and i'm around a week now since i did it with not a single hint of a reoccurence.

I missed the part of the article which states this as not only fact, but confirmed by Apple.

Until Apple releases a statement or someone shows the FCC re-certification for the adjusted antenna design - the "idiots" are right.

You are exactly right. I can hardly believe that anything of that magnitude would escape prying eyes at the FCC. You can be sure that people are looking for anything related to the iPhone4 antenna, especially to release it to the press. I'd be interested in knowing what the numbers are for those with the issue and those without. I don't have the issue with mine and I have tried to replicate it at varying locations so I could see if signal strength near a tower had any difference or not.

That said, I still believe that this is the best iPhone ever and I have only had 2 dropped calls in the 22 days that I have had it. With my 3G it was 2 a week, easy.

I think I'll put on my headphones and play Chopper2.

Maybe the reason I've never had the proximity sensor issue is because when I got my iPhone 4, I didn't revert to a backup. I started fresh. New phone, so new OS.

Whenever I get a new iPhone or upgrade my OS, I always start from scratch again. It's not that hard to copy over my photos, music and contacts. It's not a big deal for me.

I didn't do that and I don't have the proximity sensor issue.

i started fresh with my iPhone 4 too, no reverting from me as wanted a clean start. so that kills your theory, sorry.
