I didn't know that - so that explains why we have no Apple Store here. Seems we never will have one then. It's a corporate tax dodge (allegedly). Basically, if you have no retail side (as many global companies HQ'd in Ireland don't), you're not generating profits directly in country, and are thus subjected to different tax criteria. It's obviously much more complicated than that, but essentially Apple did a deal with the Revenue a while back. Quid pro quo, tax vs job creation.

Hmm on reflection you could be right. Maybe Voda and O2 just don't see it worth pursuing.
I was hoping that to but when Phil said there's as great deal during the trial run from Carriers I knew there's going to be a high cost. So I'm out.. they said a similar thing when cellular iPad's were all the craze. And you have to pay for that monthly too. To me the watch can't do nearly half as much as phone's/ipad's so it shouldn't cost a monthly fee. But then Apple threw out there that of course Apple Music 40 million songs... blah blah blah and again reaffirmed data costs. AGH!
Found this already:
AT&T say it'll cost $10 a month to add the device to an existing mobile plan; Verizon and T-Mobile say they will make that connection free for the first three months. The latter notes the eventual $10 price applies only if you enroll in auto-pay billing. From: arstechnica.com
So a 120.00 a year to have this on my wrist on the off chance I need to make a call without my phone? Yeah that's an easy pass.
Apparently att requires u to pay an access fee because it wil use the data from your plan. The access fee starts at $20 a month. That's ridiculous.
AT&T has a 10 device limit per mobile share, don't they? We already have 9 devices across our family. Plus, $10 for the watch, which won't use data like an iPad, is really high. I'm crossing my fingers it's just a $5 add to the iPhone line.
Really pissed off that you now have to buy the Stainless Steel model in GPS and cellular. I've no interest in the cellular feature. WTF Apple![]()
The clue is in the "GPS + Cellular" description.Forgive me if this has already been asked but I noticed there is no wifi only stainless option for series 3. I don't really want to pay to add the watch to my plan so any idea if the cellular model will work with no cellular connection, i.e. in wifi mode only?

Will be interesting to see how this plays out with greedy carriers over the next year or so.....I really can't imagine many people will want to take out a separate contract for a watch.Update 12/9/17: we've just had confirmation from EE that you'll need two separate contracts for your phone and the Apple Watch Series 3. It told us: "To get the cellular functionality of the watch, users will need one contract for the watch and a second Pay Monthly or SIMO contract with an iPhone 6 or later".
(non-animoji obviously)

Just EE is failure for the UK. I won’t be switching away from 3 (the free calls abroad is simply too good).
Once it does hit other networks it has to be cheap for it to viable for such a fluffy feature. Plus it must work with other apps like podcast apps and Spotify.
