I agree

$5 a month, i’d probably bite, but bitch about it. $10, i’m definitely sticking with my series 2. Saves me money i guess!
I may buy the cellular version but probably will not enable cellular. I'm sick of greedy carriers and this smacks of a level of avarice I cannot tolerate. I already pay for a rather large data plan and - philosophically - do not believe it should even be legal to charge a per-device fee. What is a company like AT&T doing each month with my devices that justifies this cost? If I were getting some form of per-device value it would be one thing.

Specific to the Apple Watch, $10/month for limited functionality is ridiculous.

I heard Rene Ritchie equate these policies to a pizza delivery company charging you for the pizza, and then adding on additional charges for each person who chooses to eat the pizza...

I'm surprised Apple could not strongarm the carriers into better pricing, too.

Whats the deal with the Cellular iWatch 3, say if you're Optus (Australian carrier) already with your iphone 7 plus on Optus, do you have to pay extra and what sort of SIM goes into the iWatch 3?

The Watch uses an eSIM (electronic SIM), meaning it's a chip inside the Watch and not a physical SIM card you have to insert. The eSIM can become a SIM from any carrier like Telstra, Optus, etc automatically. Currently there are no details in Australia from Telstra or Optus on whether it will cost extra. For example, Telstra already has pooled data plans that let you share data between devices, but in this case the Watch's eSIM needs to share the same phone number as your existing iPhone's SIM. Telstra announced support for that today under the name "Telstra One Number" (but no details on pricing), and Optus and other carriers will no doubt offer the same functionality.

I know streaming music is one of the selling points of the cellular one, but will it be easy to download music to it like you can do on the iPhone Music app for offline listening?

It's something I've not tried with the current watch as people say it's a PITA.

Ok thanks

On Twitter today Three are saying "watch this space" whilst O2 have just tweeted to say they currently have no plans to support the cellular watch.

I've asked them to clarify but maybe people will need to switch after all.
[doublepost=1505293971][/doublepost]So yes, O2 have come back to say they have no plans to offer a tariff for the Apple Watch LTE.

O2 used to be the carrier most likely to support new Apple tech, but that's now moved to EE.

It's a weird one alright...

It has made me consider switching now as all four of our phones are out of contract at the moment. Or my laziness gets the better of me and I wait it out!
[doublepost=1505318726][/doublepost]So the EE cost is £5, that's half what I thought it would be - pleasantly surprised by that so long as there's no hidden catches!

I still don't understand how there is so little information on this. What are the companies charging? Do I need to pick a carrier specific one, do I need to activate the celluar right away to use it or can I decide later to activate if I find the need?

Also where is everyone saying verizon is offering 3 free months?

Well surely it's more if you are taking out a watch contract with them? Unless you have to buy the Apple Watch outright first?

I heard on MacRumors £5 per month but EE themselves say no charge!

It'll certainly hurt what little sales the Apple Watch has in the UK if it's only compatible on EE.

As a series 2 owner I can't see the point in upgrading anytime soon. If I go out without my phone I don't want to receive calls anyway lol. It's quite cool to see the new AW3 doesn't look any different though.

So...now that we have LTE and can use the Watch without a phone will all apps be functional without the phone as well? To the best of my knowledge with the series 0,1, and 2 apps are mostly stored on the phone and then transmitted via Bluetooth to function on the Watch.

Why on earth would i pay extra in my plan just to use a watch to make calls on this is the most rip off day light robbery invention i have ever seen but it will be interesting to watch ️ it all unfold

guess depends how much you use it.

If you go swimming and go gym for an hour and don't feel the need for your phone I can see why same for going to the shops quickly.

Yes i get that but it really annoying that the cellular companies get away with it you pay your dues for your tariff and you should be able to use it how you wish.

Thanks. So I am on O2 and staying there so no need for the new watch for me then. Have got the whole family with O2 so not switching now.

I don't blame you if everyone dose the same the it will make them sit back and think or maybe not.
Anyone heard if 3uk have any plans they are not as greedy as others my plan gives me unlimited everything for less than £30 a month i just buy a phone outright when i feel the need to get one and I would buy the s3 but not if i have to subscribe to another plan.

Perhaps, but I have it in writing from them so there will be no charge if they want to keep my phone subscription.

Keep your phone subscription? Where else are you going to go to? This is an EE exclusive feature. We don't know when others will jump on board and when they do, will they charge us as well?

It's going to be £5 per month, the boss said so.
