Who cares that it scratched at the 6 rating? Who is going to putting their Edition watch up to something that is a 6 and scratching the screen? That is so dumb if you do.

Regular glass scratches at a 6. The same as what’s on the aluminum models...

i hope it’s not scratchable with everyday use, I workout and run everyday, also working and meetings there’s a chance I can scratch on the corner of desks and so on, that’s what’s happened to my stainless steel Watch and even tho the face is in perfect condition the stainless steel band around it has scratches, that’s part of the reason why I’m considering the upgrade to the Ceramic Edition series 3, that and it looks really good :D

Look at what that guy was doing. He was putting considerable pressure on the screen, and also I did not once see him try to wipe away the marks. Who’s to say they did not wipe away. Also I have had the series 2 ceramic for a year now, and I have had zero issues with screen scratches. I don’t believe this video at all.

That’s fair. A lot of stainless steel and ceramic owners have said their screens are flawless after a lot of use

Exactly. I wouldn't pamper it, and for a 6 rating to happen to glass it doesn't take much.

I have not pamper my ceramic series 2, and it’s been hit and rubbed across things that could scratch it and never have. I seen no issues with it.

I do understand yours and anyone else’s concerns by a video like this, but real world use, this is not an issue. I am sure if anything like that happen to an Edition, Apple would take care of it. I have no babied my watch at all over the last year, and have had zero issues. Also I had the original day one AW SS and still to this day don’t have a single scratch on the screen. I do still wear that watch from time to time. It’s been nearly over 2 years and it still looks flawless.

That’s the 2, not the 3 which was tested in the video. Maybe the 3 is worse? Maybe the 2 was better? Maybe you didn’t rub against anything past a 5 on the scale? Too many variables. That YouTube test speaks volumes and is something to consider. But hey, the ceramic case scored well!

Do we really think Apple changed the process with the series 3 that made it worse? There are variables that we don’t know, but I can promise you the Apple Watch is better then what this guys makes it out to be. Maybe I didn’t rub it against something harder then 5, but my point would be in real world use, I never ever have had an issue.

What's it about, my work PC is blocking it?

Sapphire glass on a $200 Tissot Chrono XL Swiss watch scratches with Mohs level 8 pick while the lower quality Chinese sapphire glass on a $1300 AW3 ceramic scratches at Mohs level 6.

Pretty sure I saw a bunch of these videos when the first generation came out and it was found to just be the oleophobic coating...

Well look at the bright side the ceramic is why we paid the 1300 and it seems pretty tough. As far as the sapphire goes its been out since 2014 on AWs. In real world usage is it holding up far better then the non sapphire versions? Have we seen lots of complaints of sapphires scratching on the AW? I know I have in regards to the ion glass.

Also sapphire is not that exp to make. I'm sure Apple has a reason for having their own formula and I doubt it is cost. Since light is more critical with the camera lens and watch face vs a mechanical maybe they have a formula that transfers light better then the pure sapphire at the cost of durability?

Now had the ceramic scratched at a 6 or 7 id take it back for the SS but I'm pretty impressed with its hardness.

Nothing new here.

Watch the video when you leave work. He explained that it wasn't the oleophobic coating after subjecting it to flame.

Does he do the same thing to a Series 2? If so, I’m not worried as my Series 2 has taken a battering and the screen is spotless.

Will watch when I get in later...

I believe. Nothing has changed here with Apples sapphire since 2014.

I just looked at my coworkers serios 0 SS shes had and worn every day since 2014 and not a single scratch on the crystal.

The only mark I got on my S2 SS sapphire screen was a scuff in the coating (which looked like a scratch but was not) and the rest of the sapphire was pristine after 1 year of pretty hard use.

I had two SS watches...series 0 and series 2 before i got my ceramic and on several occasions I bashed them pretty hard agains walls and doors. Not a mark on either when i traded them in when they were a year old. I don't think that we have anything to worry about

Exactly my experience with my S0 SS - worn every day since release and pristine.

Why does the guy seem to be pushing much harder on the Apple Watch than the other? It's like he's sightly brushing/tickling the other one...

He's legit plus the softer material will always give way to the harder material no matter how hard it's pushed. Take it for what it is that the sapphire glass on AW3 is equivalent in Mohs scale to typical front display glass and not as good as $200 Tissot sapphire glass.

What does everyone think of the combo white ceramic + Hermes brown single tour?
