Mine is 44mm SBSS
Anyone think I have an issue based on my pics(first is too and second is bottom, third show how sapphire looks at bottom from another angle)...curious.

Again the SS has more of ridge all round vs the AL SG
44mm I have

I am trying to be realistic and not let my “ neurosis” and OCD over the top here.

I have the same thing. See my pic above. I can run my nail along the seam. Slightly more on the bottom.

I will not be swimming or showering in my watch. Unless pushed in spook or caught in a bad rain my water exposure will be minimal.

I clearly can’t be sure but if this slight difference is a water resistance issue I’m sure we would see a thread about AppleCare not covering water exposure they tout for the Watch... showering and swimming.

The question about water resistance comes down to what seal is critical. The screen flush issue here just does not seem logically to be wear the failure would occur but the “internal “(underneath) seam for the glass we can’t visualize
Mine is exactly like this. Which leads me to believe that there is some range of what’s considered acceptable by Apple AND that if I tried an exchange, I may end up with the same or worse. I very much plan to swim with mine. Sounds like AppleCare+ for me.

For reference, I've just taken one for the team and run my series 4 under the shower, and it's not had any adverse effect, despite the slight ridge of the screen at the bottom. I did spend at least 60 seconds concentrating the water flow on the bottom edge too.

Thanks for taking one for team! I’m trying my hardest to not let my OCD takeover here and I know that a few weeks from now I won’t be bothered by it... I don’t really want a replacement or buy another one only to end up with something similar or worse. The one I have now is perfect (to me) in terms of screen (no dust or scratches), side button is solid and not wobbly and crown is fine... I might have to opt for Apple care maybe...?

Just spoke to Apple and visited an Apple Store...

Apple customer service over the phone was very willing to replace it, but told me that I’d have to send in my watch and potentially wait until the end of October for a replacement. She suggested option 2 would be to check in store stock and try to exchange in the next 14 days.

Checked the display stainless models at the Apple Store and half of them had the bottom ridge issue and the other half were flush. Black, gold, and SS models were all affected.

I’ll attempt to buy and exchange in store but will absolutely open the box and check the replacement before leaving. O think it will be hit or miss. Maybe they are rushing production to meet immediate demand and quality control will be more stringent later on.

Not pleased considering I coughed up $800+ for this watch.

I am not changing. Just trying to decide now if I keep SBSS or AL model

I think this is a nonissue in real life

Thank you for doing this

I agree screen looks perfect

Sorry, misread re the lightning port. However even with the phone it's now waterproof, so not sure how that would work.

They checked the bottom port in the past and there was some red indicator if there was water damage

I know, but how do you prove water damage is the owners fault with a device that's designed to be waterproof?

Apple: "Your iPhone XS Max is water damaged"
Me: "OK I guess there was an inherent fault with your waterproofing"

EDIT: As long as there isn't evidence of me trying to crowbar it open, what can they say?

I agree 100%

If they advertise you can swim and shower with it not sure they can say much unless they are able to show you swam at inappropriate depth ie scuba diving but who would do that knowing you shouldnt

That’s interesting as I just rang Apple to get the delivery address of my replacement watch changed and just as she was changing the address, the system reported that the address could not be changed as the replacement was ready to be shipped. So once UPS pick my watch up, they will ship out my new one

Thats great! Im going to try much luck at the store over the next 14 days so I can see the watch before I take it home. Please let us know how your replacement turns out.

This is not good CS. You bought and had new item delivered that is "defective", isn't  supposed to have immediate stock for these issues..at store and by phone support.

The other issue is the store may balk at exchange for this issue...pretty sure my local  store would

Both over the phone and in store were willing to do the exchange, just no stock. Three Apple associates felt the issue on my watch and said something like, "oh, wow, yeah." We all proceeded to feel up the display models and discovered that it wasn't just my watch, and it wasn't every watch either.

I understand. But I thought  was to keep separate stock for warranty issues.

with 14 days to make a return, not easy to get the replacement. I would go via phone support since they really expedited Bazooka-joe replacement. I wonder if the new one will be the same or different(wonder how fast he will get it)

Just dremel it down smooth a bit :D

I also noticed on mine that it is rough if I swipe down along the curved corners.

None of this bothers me because I cannot see it and I never touch the seam with my finger... however if the screen was crooked/rotated then I would be wanting to replace it.

So my order status now says "Ships to the original address once the carrier collects your return". UPS pick my return up tomorrow at 3pm so i expect it to be shipped on Friday. If its coming from China then it will arrive next week. I would presume it will be the same for you

I know I’m being very technical here, but it’s not ‘waterproof’, it’s 50 Meters water resistant. Huge difference between the two, and the FTC does not allow the term waterproof to be exclusive to any watch, at least in the States.

Any updates from anyone? Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.

Caved... OCD got the better of me. Rang Apple support and they are sending out a priority brand new replacement. So hopefully will be here next week.

Been waiting for one to come into the local Apple store but nothing, so just did it online. However after that got sorted there was one available for pick up a couple of hours later! Fml! Lol

Did you go to pick it up???

Apple support told u same thing. Not being flush all around is not what is expected?

You had no issue getting it replaced? They did not hassle you?
[doublepost=1538129347][/doublepost]Can I ask what you said to Apple support to get the priority replacement?
Just case is not flush and there is a ridge?

When I have called regarding warranty items I don’t seem to get that kinda of support?

I had time capsule fail due to hdd issue and I felt like I was in the wrong.

Mine is still making it back to the returns centre via UPS. Should be there today so fingers crossed my replacement will be shipped on Monday. Keep checking istocknow and the apple website but no SBSS in the UK...as normal

Nah I didn’t pick it up because I didn’t have the car so figured let someone get it, and plus mine is sorted so I’ll just wait.

I just told them it seems to be misaligned and I’m worry about the water seal, the way they responded, to me, sounded like they weren’t surprised... but they were very helpful. I asked them is all four sides supposed to flushed, and they said yes.

They didn’t hassle me at all mainly because I’m within my 14 days, so they can’t refuse anyway... if they didn’t help I would’ve returned it.

Just checking in. Anyone get a replacement yet? I spoke with a number of customer support specialists, all apologing profusely about the issue (no questions asked) and suggesting I keep my watch until the end of the replacement window to see if I can find one in store to do a buy and return.

Nope. Apple received my return and a credit was issued to my account on Sunday. My replacement is still stuck om processing with a delivery date of 25th Oct - 1st November . I called Apple last night and she couldn’t give me a date for shipment. I don’t think they have any replacement stock. SS nodels seem to be like gold dust at the moment. Very few about. I would have thought that a priority replacement would have meant the next one off the production line if they didn’t have replacement stock. The early/mid-October SS orders seem to be shipping now so it begs the question about priority replacements

TBH there probably isn’t really a priority replacement “thing” and they just said that to appease you.

Did you check the Apple app under your orders? I received an email stating around that date, but under my orders in the Apple store app mine delivers next week, when my watch is scheduled to be picked up.

Yes on the app it says 25th October onwards. Have you really got confirmation that your watch is being shipped?

Well when I first set it up I got an email notification saying around your eta, so I called them and they said I was supposed to ignore that email and they are just processing the replacement as priority. Haven’t gotten another email notification as of yet, however on the app it says processing and delivers 9th to 11th Oct.

Also my return request pending there with a date of the 11th which is when it scheduled to be picked up. I think I only get another notification when it is shipped. I will keep you posted though.
