“Several iPhone X users experiencing radiation poisoning!”

This sh*t happens every year. People look for something to complain about...

I was at Apple Store today, but they somehow refused to replace it. They said an iOS update would fix it. I’ve already sent an email to Tim, since I am really disappointed by their support. Instead of helping me, they tried to convince me 90% to buy AC+ (tho I’ve already using Apple Care Protection Plan)
So yea, I’m very disappointed

Apparently some Apple Stores offer replacement and others don’t. Is this software fix still hypothetical ?
Are those employees simply speculating that an update will fix it ? Or did they get official informations about this ?

I have been to the Apple Store today and I’ve tested 7 units with the « rising sun » tone. 5 of them had this problem. Therefore flawless units do exist. I doubt they could fix it without limiting the capabilities of the speaker but I’m not an engineer after all...

I have the problem (crackling speakers) but is not at high volume it’s bewteen apps, it’s like lack of memory, a little crack in the song (glitch) I hope no need to change my device. :/

@Dark Shines, First he told me it’s my fault. (Liquid damage).
Then after I showed him some news online he went to the back again and after he came back he told me I am right blablabl, anyway he refused to change my device because “it will PROBABLY be fixed in one of the next updates”. And I was like is he fkkn kidding me? It’s a 1319€ device and he talks like it’s some thing I can just rebuy. Let alone the time and stuff spending going there. Anyway, I then wrote a “nice” email to tcook@apple.com, got no response tho but after a few hours they called me and told me apologized about that experience and set express replacement for me. So everything is good
And looking on the web, it seems like this store has very low rating. 2,2/5

Of course they could limit it by capping the volume lower - but the thing is, should you accept it on a device which is almost a mid class-salary? (For me it’s more than a workaround than a fix)

Btw, experimenting in the Apple Store today I found the perfect song to check wether the earpiece is “cracking”:

(the first 5s)

On my friends X as well as on my iPad Pro it sounds superb, just on mine it sucks

Distortion an can caused by both too much and too little power....at max volume , do your research please]

You don't know anything about it.
Almost never has anyone screwed up so bad as to have so little power at max volume that it has caused distortion.
Your speaking extremely theoretical.

are you absolutly sure that your friends iphone does not do that? mine also does not sound good with that track :(. But for a swap I need to know if it isnt a common problem.

@mydogeatsbeats - It is a common problem. In some Apple stores, you can hear it on the majority of the display units. And a lot of people just don’t notice it. Gonna return mine if there’s no news about a software fix in the next few days. I do not usually play music at 100% volume but hearing this constant crackling during my conversations is unacceptable.

so I checked the frotfacing speaker and the downfire speaker with this track (under configurations you can chose the speaker) and only the earpiece speaker crackles horrific. the other one sounds distorted WITHOUT crackling. This shows that it is not poor quality of the track (clipping) but rather a hardware flaw

Yes I am. Also I tested a demo device in our retailer (non-AppleStore) and it didn’t have that aswellIt’s

Also, isn’t that enough proof?

hmm, I do soundproduction and there is a possibilty that the speaker just can not handle digital clipping well enough. But in this case im pretty sure its not digital clipping of the soundsource because the downfireing speaker can handle the the source perfectly.

Anyway, even if you replace your device, what do you have to lose ?

I probably am watching more video via the speakers but even it sounds crap at high volume.

Is it software related but? No everyone has the problem it seems. I think it’s hardware sadly.

I'm hoping they just need to pull back the gain a bit and it will be fine. If it's crackling because it's being overloaded, then it's a software fix. If it's defective speaker that tears at high volume causing distortion, that would be bad. But at that low wattage and volume, that should've be the case.

If i listen very closely to the lower speaker I hear the crackle on SOME sound, only it is almost non-existent. It may just be a different issue, but i'm not sure. I think the top speaker could be EQed to be substantially more tolerable at least as a work around.
