If you mention Amex here in the UK, all you hear for the next few moments are crickets.Last statistic I could find (2013) is that 26% of all money transacted through credit cards was on Amex. Here, Amex is accepted by every decent-sized retailer.
I would prefer just getting some Chip and PIN readers/cards here in the US.
I'm in the US, and I've yet to come across a chip reader, in any store that has one, that actually works.
This is exactly why Apple Pay is slow to catch on...retailers are completely dragging their asses.
I can't wait to see my parents' faces when this app asks for their banking routing and checking number, social security (for full benefits), and request to follow their location... all before using the app. This. Won't. Work.
I'm in the U.S. I have a chip credit card that I have used at Target. No pin required yet. Just place the card, chip side first, in the card reader and wait for it to processes.
My thoughts exactly.
How on earth do they think that CurrentC is going to fare in the rest of the world?
NFC (and Chip and Pin) have been used in many parts of the years for years and years.
ApplePay builds on that existing network.
CurrentC? Yeah right.
Or is CurrentC going to be another of those US Only (ha-ha) solutions.
There is a world out there with bigger markets than the USA. Why aren't they going after them then?
Bring it on. Competition is a good thing.
Still waiting for my bank to support apple pay![]()
This pushed me to open a checking account at another bank. Put part of my paycheck in there every 2 weeks and get free banking. Got a credit card too that has cash-back rewards. I've been missing out on that perk for a while.
I'll keep my old bank on (credit union) for now until I can disentangle all my direct debits and bill payments.
Why have a three-year exclusivity period that expires BEFORE the product is launched?
MCX CEO Brian Mooney tells Re/code that CurrentC may not see a broad launch until 2016, depending on how the early testing in Ohio proceeds.
They're all over the place. The problem is a lot of stores haven't activated the chip reader yet. Even KMart has readers that are capable of taking chip cards, but they won't turn them on. I know Walmart allows payment with EMV cards in the chip slot. I think Home Depot was another one that has been mentioned before but I haven't tried to use my card there in a long time. I think someone should post a list of stores that currently accept EMV payment with their reader actually ON.
I've seen the chip capable Verifone readers at stores like Byrne Dairy, Victoria's Secret, Aeropistale, American Eagle, Walmart, AT&T, Hess/Speedway, and other places.
What is it with KMart now anyways? Seems like the stores are poorly maintained and built for scumbags to shop there.
You do. I was with my credit union for almost 20 years. They were really good to me at first - then it all slid downhill. Inertia (aka laziness) kept me there.Problem with my bank, after all these years of disappointment, its Stockholm syndrome!
I need to escape

you played too much sierra games.I can't wait for CurrentC! Nothing makes me happier than using my debit card with a convoluted QR code process instead of my rewards-yeilding credit card in Apple Pay.
